How to have two companies on one sign in

This would have been helpful to know BEFORE opening a new subscription.  It wouldn't allow me to use the same ID, so now I have to logout then login the second to see info.  Is there a way to put the second business with second subsciption under the same login or make it be recognized as both mine so that I may switch between companies without logging out?

How to have two companies on one sign in

Good evening, @Chunn. I hope you're having a fantastic Friday so far.

To answer your question, yes, you can change the sign-in credentials so that both of your companies are under the same User ID/email. Here's a Community Article that walks you through the process by providing detailed steps: Sign in to multiple QuickBooks Online companies with one user ID.

If you hit any bumps, please don't hesitate and reach back out to me. I'd be happy to help you out. Have a great weekend!

How to have two companies on one sign in

Hi: I have been reconciling the books for a company through Quickbooks online and their accountant has set up for me to do work on another company with the same user id.  These QB online accounts have been set up for some time.  When I received the email to activate my user id for the 2nd company, it would not let me do that.  How am I able to link the 2 companies under one User ID?

thank you!

How to have two companies on one sign in

Hello there, Evbates,

Is there an error message when you accept the invitation to access the 2nd company? If so, please update this post or attach a screenshot so I can check what's going in your end.

In the meantime, you can enter the login credentials used during the invites. Then, merge them later once you're able to access the 2nd company.

If you're seeing a message, like "email address already in use", this means you have already an existing Intuit account. You can click the Sign in link instead, then enter your current user ID and password. This will help ensure you only have one login info.

You can also contact our QuickBooks Online Support Team so they can do screen-sharing with you. Then, walk you through the steps on how to create one user ID for all your QuickBooks companies.

Here's how to contact them:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to Help (?).
  3. Select Contact Us.
  4. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  5. Choose a way to connect with us:
    • Start a chat with a support expert.
    • Get a callback from the next available expert.

I'll keep this post while waiting for your response. Thank you and stay safe!

@RSH1961

Can you elaborate your question? Do you need to merge 2 QB Desktop company files or else?

I’ve got you covered in switching from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Dey. I’ll gladly walk you through the steps and share details before getting on the online version.

When availing of one of our QuickBooks Online products, I suggest checking out our official website to see features that perfectly fit your business. Also, available features are outlined from there. Please visit this site for reference: QuickBooks Online Plans & Pricing.

After that, If you still have the supported version of QBDT, the first thing we should do is to make sure that your QuickBooks is up-to-date, and the total targets should not exceed 750,000 for it to be converted to QBO. Also, please take note that there may be differences after you move your data. Learn what does and doesn’t move to QuickBooks online.

Once done, you can refer to Step 2: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online and refer to what specific edition of the product you’re using to start moving your file. Then, you can get your QBO file ready by following the video guidelines in Step 3: Get ready to use QuickBooks Online in this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.

However, for QuickBooks 2020 version or older, you can move your data to QuickBooks Online with an online tool.

For future reference, get to know more about QBO and the simple navigation of the product. Concerning adding another company, I have also added a helpful resource that will guide you through it: Create or add another company file to QuickBooks Online.

I’m always available whenever you need further assistance on your migration process. Also, if you have future questions about our online version of the product, please don’t hesitate to post them here. Have a good one!
