Retirement and Intuit Subscription

I just retired as of May 31, 2024. I wrote my last paychecks. Can I stop my subscription with Intuit now or do I have to continue my subscription until the end of the year in order to have Intuit make monthly payroll deposits and quarterly reports and produce my 2024 W-2 forms?

Retirement and Intuit Subscription

Hello there, dmajyee.

I'll be providing details on how your payroll data and taxes work with a QuickBooks subscription. I'll also ensure that you can handle them correctly so that you have accurate data.

Since you have already created your last paychecks, you can cancel your subscription with Intuit. However, you have to ensure that you have been complete and submit any outstanding quarterly forms, as well as print the relevant payroll reports.

On the other hand, if you want us to prepare the year-end W-2s, you need to indicate so on the cancelation form and enter December 31 as the effective date. We also pay and file all other applicable payroll taxes for the remainder of the year, and then W-2s will be mailed to you by January 31.

Furthermore, I still recommend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team if you require additional assistance with paying your yearly taxes. They are the best support group as they can request account information and collect data to accurately handle your tax filings.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Select Contact Us in the Help (?) icon.
  3. Enter your concern, then select Let's talk.
  4. Choose a way to connect with us.

Lastly, you can read this article to see information on what happens to your payroll data after you cancel your subscription: Cancel Your QuickBooks Payroll Subscription.

You're always welcome in the Community if you have further questions about payroll or subscription in QBO. We'll do our best to assist, dmajyee. Take care!
