I have Desktop Pro 2018. All of a sudden it keeps asking for my password when I open up Quick Books after I close or exit the company. I do have the preference set to "keep logged in for 90 days."
Any suggestions? Seems to have happened after an update.
Good evening, @razzzy.
QuickBooks can ask you to enter your username and password again if you have explicitly logged off from the Company File or when the login period set has expired. Since you have to close the company file to update the software, the system will automatically log you out to complete the update too. This can also happen if the login fails, multiple users are using the same company file on the same computer, or if the user is using a Windows account. You can check out this article for further information: Stay logged in to QuickBooks company file.
Please don't hesitate to touch base with me here if you need any additional assistance. I look forward to hearing from you again.
Its only me on the computer with Windows 10 - current update. No other Qucikbooks. It does it now whether you Exit, Close or Logoff company. I tried everything and it keeps asking for my password. Just started after an update.
Thooughts?
Thanks for getting back to us, @razzzy.
Since the issue persists after trying the steps on the article shared by my colleague above, I highly suggest contacting our Phone Support team. They have tools that can pull up your account in a secure environment and investigate why it keeps on asking for a password when opening QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). They can also perform other troubleshooting steps to fix this for you.
Here's how to reach them:
Just in case, I'll add this article for future reference: Password security for QuickBooks Desktop.

I have Quickbooks Pro 2020 DESKTOP. I have set up my data file to keep me logged in, but starting yesterday June 24, I am asked for my Intuit password every time I log in. How do I cancel this requirement? I cancelled the two-step authorization on my Intuit account but that change made no difference when logging on to QB 2020 desktop.
Thank you.
Welcome to the Community, @tigerbook61.
Let me help you cancel the requirement in QuickBooks Desktop.
I've checked here and haven't found any issues similar to what you encounter. I know you've done the update, but I suggest performing the steps again to ensure any new updates and fixes are installed successfully on your QuickBooks.
Here's how:
Once done, please go to the Preferences section and make sure you select the right option under Service Connection.

I am very unhappy with Quickbooks, Desktop Pro, regarding this new password requirement to open any company file. This all started with the update I did last week. Quickbooks should have WARNED me, that the update would do this. I was perfectly happy with the un-updated version of Desktop Pro (2018) I had. I don't even have a company any more, I just use Desktop Pro to enter my check registers, where I put checks in categories by creating various "Account" names, and then I can generate these very useful, categorized reports. Even if I had a company, why should Quickbooks have control over my access to my Quickbooks company by not letting me open unless I put in a password? So a Quickbooks technician helped me uninstall the updated Quickbooks Desktop Pro, and then reinstall it from the internet. After helping me save "Company File" . Only problem with that new copy, was that although at least the old "companies" didn't require a password for me to open, any new "company" I wanted to create [which I do for a new checking account], still did require that password creation in order to open. SO FRUSRATING. So I uninstalled that internet-download version, took out my physical Quickbooks Desktop Prop 2018 disc which I still had on my shelf, and installed it. Now I CAN create new "companies" again and OPEN them, without having to have a password. Problem was, for some reason the "split" function does not work properly [only shows "account", not also the "amount" and "memo" columns, so split function is useless .] There is an awkward work-around, which I will use: go into "restore backup" files, pick an old one, rename it, somehow get the account to zero and then use it for the new "company" or in my case, just the new bank account. I DONT FORSEE BUYING ANY MORE QUICKBOOKS PRODUCTS, which I might have done, absent this new, very irritating requirement of a password to open any "company". I see that I am not the only customer unhappy with this. Quicken should rethink things, maybe make some updates which give the customer-creators of companies on Quickbooks the OPTION but not the REQUIREMENT of setting up passwords in order to open Quickbook "companies".
Why is there only an opportunity to CHEER a post and not an opportunity to thumbs down a post???
This also just started happening to me in my Accountant's Desktop yesterday and all the fixes suggested DON'T WORK. Super frustrating!! I flip between companies all the time and now I waste a lot of time.
