Bank Connection error 103

Hello,

Hope someone can help me.

Can't fix error 103.

I am not able to reconnect the bank to QB online. I am 100% sure I use the correct user ID and psw and still get the error 103.

Thank you

Bank Connection error 103

Thank you for making sure you've entered the correct login credentials when connecting to your bank, @RG83. No worries, I’ll be here to help you get rid of the error code 103.

May I know what bank institution you’re using? This will help me verify if there’s a reported issue about this matter. I’d appreciate it if you can add a clarification of it in the comment section below.

Error 103 will appear when login credentials provided into QuickBooks Online don't match those held by your banking institution. There are a few things that could cause this issue:

  • When attempting to establish a connection with your banking institution for the first time, you entered the incorrect credentials.
  • You choose the incorrect banking institution choice (there are often many to select from).
  • You’ll need to change the data in QuickBooks Online if you are currently connected and have updated your credentials with your financial institution.

To get to the bottom of it, you’ll want to reach out to your bank to verify if they’re performing any system maintenance update. Let’s log in to your bank’s website to check for any notifications that needs your attention.

If everything looks good on your bank’s website, try to reconnect and ensure to manually enter your credentials.  If the error persists, follow these steps:

  1. On the left pane, select the Banking menu and click Add account.
Note: If you already have an existing bank account in your Chart of Accounts, go to the Action column and select View register (or Account history) drop-down and choose Connect bank.
  2. In the search field, enter the bank’s name or enter their URL.
  3. If multiple results are displayed, select the bank name in the list for your account.
  4. Log in with your user id and password.
  5. If you receive the error 103 again, tap the Go back button and proceed to the next name on the list. Repeat this process until you have successfully connected your account.

If you can’t still find or connect to your bank, refer to this article: Unable to find the correct bank in QuickBooks Online.

If the same thing happens, you can refer to this article for more troubleshooting steps: Error 103 or Error 310.

As a workaround, you’ll want to consider manually importing the bank transactions into QuickBooks. Please keep in mind that it will most likely cause duplicates once the issue gets resolved. Thus, you’ll need to exclude them moving forward.

Bank Connection error 103

@RG83

Utilize the trial version of MT Online to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank or connection.

Bank Connection error 103

I have Error 103 showing but can't find out where to apply the steps you gave in a reply some years ago.

With the upgraded QuickBooks chart on "Get Things Done", there is mo place that takes me to Selecting Bank Account.  Also this is not available in the "Banking" section of the menu.

Thank you for joining in on the thread, Pardo41_33.

In your case, you'll want to re-enter your bank credentials to refresh your connection. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Go to Banking.
  2. Chose Transactions and then Bank transactions.
  3. Select the bank with an error, click ✎ (pencil icon), and choose Edit sign-in info.
  4. If your web browser automatically fills in the user ID and password fields, clear them. This step ensures that your browser does not insert old information by mistake.
  5. Manually type in the user ID and password for your bank account. If your bank offers a Show option, select it to confirm you entered the password correctly.
  6. Select Update.

If you still encounter the same error, let me know the name of the bank so I can check for reported issues. Then, consider uploading your transactions manually so you can work on them.

I'm just a comment away if you need more help with online banking. Take care and have a good one!

Thanks for joining this thread, jd3henry.

Error 103 means the sign in credentials you've entered aren't being accepted by your financial institution's website. When this message displays, you can use the Reconnect button, enter your appropriate user credentials for signing in to the account, then click Update Sign-in Info.

If this doesn't solve your error, I'd recommend confirming the log in details you're using are accurate.

Here's how:

  1. Open a new window in your web browser and go directly to the bank's site.
  2. Make a note of their web address. This may come in handy later.
  3. Sign in with your user ID and password. If you have separate accounts with the institution, be sure to log in to the one you want to fix.
  4. If you're able to sign in successfully, then you've confirmed your credentials are accurate. In the event you continue receiving error 103, follow your bank's instructions to get the account's user ID and/or reset its password.

Another thing you'll want to check is if your bank requires third-party access. Some banks need permission from you to connect accounts to services from other companies. You can visit the financial institution's website to confirm if they have any such requirements. If they do, be sure to follow their instructions for turning on access.

Once you're prepared, you can try signing in to your account again in QuickBooks. If you continue receiving the error, you'll want to get in touch with our Customer Care team. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment, conduct further research, and create an investigation ticket if necessary.

I've also included a detailed resource about working with error 103 which may come in handy moving forward: Error 103

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Wednesday!
