Bank feed changed by bank

Hello Community,

I have a parent account of Bank with two sub accounts Acct 1 and Acct 2.  Before the change both feeds came in under their account numbers from the same feed under the name of Bank which had one feed.  There are now two feeds.

Bank has a different feed under digital banking. It shouldn't be getting a feed since it' a parent account.

It's a whole new business website that the feed connects to with digital banking.

Acct 2 imported fine with its unique acct. number using the old feed.  I can't get Acct 1 which also uses the old feed to import because the import goes directly to the parent acct. Bank.

Bank has a connection to the new digital feed and the same account number as Acct 1. So even if I identify that I want to import into Acct 1 when the import comes in the imported transactions go into the parent acct. Bank instead.

Should I disconnect Bank from the online feed?  And should both Bank 1 and Bank 2 be disconnected and then reconnected to the new digital feed?

PS Is there a quick way to delete all the download transactions to the acct. for Bank which have not been brought into the register yet?

Thank you for all of your help.  It is much appreciated. -Susan

Bank feed changed by bank

I've done bank feeds for various banks and credit cards into QB for Mac for years.  This is the first time I've encountered a feed being changed by a bank let alone without notice.

Thank you Mirriam for your quick response.  I use downloaded transaction files from my clients banks and credit card companies and then import the downloaded file into the transaction import area.  I have a year's worth that came into that parent account which has not been added to bank register.  My question is about deleting those in bulk rather than one by one.

I will backup my file before working on the bank accounts.  I plan then to disconnect the feeds from all three and add only the digital feed to Acct 1 and Acct 2 with their individual account numbers.

This financial institution could not tell me how they were downloaded.  This is a small local credit union who outsourced their apps and IT work.  I was told they don't have an IT department or someone I could speak with.  I will see if the aforementioned works.  If it does so, I'll leave it at that.

Once again I'm truly happy with your response and its clarity.  Much appreciated. -Susan

I want to make sure you can make the most of the online banking feature in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac and have your connected accounts display the correct transactions, Susan.

Before connecting your bank account in QuickBooks, it's essential to understand how your bank sends the downloaded transactions.

  • If transactions are downloaded to the parent account, connect only to the parent account.
  • If you need the transactions to appear in individual accounts like Acct 1 and Acct 2, connect each account separately. This will allow you to see the account balances for each register.

In your situation, I recommend first checking your financial institution on how your transactions are downloaded.

If transactions should post to Account 1, you can disconnect the parent account, and then disconnect and reconnect both Account 1 and Account 2 to the new digital feed. For more details on turning off your bank, check out this article: Disconnect Bank Feeds for an account in QuickBooks Desktop.

Regarding your question about deleting all downloaded transactions, keep in mind that disconnecting the parent account will remove any uncategorized transactions that haven't been incorporated into your register yet.

Please remember to back up your account data to safeguard against any potential data loss during the disconnection process. This step ensures that all your financial records stay accessible and safe.

If you experience any issues with online banking, check out this helpful article: Fix online banking issues in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.

Once everything is set up, you can start categorizing and matching your transactions. Afterwards, reconcile your account to ensure the accuracy of your financial information.
