Can I combine two checking accounts in same set of QB

Thanks for posting to the Community, jdj6268.

Yes, you can combine two checking accounts in QuickBooks Online. Before that, here's some information you need to know:

  • Merging accounts is permanent. We're unable to undo this later on.
  • Accounts that are connected to online banking can't be merged or deleted. You'll need to clear the For review tab and disconnect the bank before you can proceed with the process.
  • All the data moves into the one you want to keep and removes the duplicate.
  • If accounts have reconciliation reports, save those reports first.

Once confirmed, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to keep and select Edit by clicking the small drop-down arrow.
  3. Take note of the account details and click Cancel.
  4. Go back to the Chart of Accounts page.
  5. Look for the account you want to merge, then hit the drop-down and pick Edit.
  6. Change the account name and click Save.
  7. Choose Yes to confirm the merging process.

For more details, see this link: Merge duplicate accounts, customers, and vendors in QuickBooks.

When reconciling, you'll need to have the two bank statements to reconcile them seamlessly.
