Cannot connect all of my Bank of America credit cards

We want this resolved as much as you do, Pearlbuck.

 

Before a bank account is connected to Online Banking, we have to know how the bank sends the transactions. This way, we'll know what account to link. 

 

Also, QuickBooks Online is dependent on what the bank account shares with us.

 

We let our customers import the transactions manually if they don't want to connect the bank account. Or, there's an issue. In your case, you use the CSV file. You may want to check this article to guide you: Format CSV files in Excel to get bank transactions into QuickBooks.

Cannot connect all of my Bank of America credit cards

Have a master credit card account with three (3) cards connected. Added a new card to the account. New card is activated and has been used successfully. I can see the transactions on PNC banks web site. I attempt to connect the card to auto download the transactions and all I can connect is the master credit card account and an investment account (Neither of which I wish to connect). The new credit card doesn't show up. 

 

Since the usage on this card is low, I will have to enter each transaction manually or export/import the data from the bank. This is not what I want to do, and reading this thread, I can see this is an unfixed long term issue.

Please do not respond to me with generic "How to" advice. I am adding myself to this thread to keep informed if the issue gets resolved.

I am having the same issue, My corporate credit card only uploads the payments and interest separately

from my employees credit card charges. The issue is that is should be linked into the main account.I have my accounts showing a huge balance and the other showing charges with huge balances. If i were to manually upload it month , it defects the purpose of using this app that i am paying for monthly. Please advise, as this issue has not been corrected or even looked into based on the previous comments.

Before that, check out our support hours. This way, you can connect with us quickly. Then, follow the instructions below to reach us.

 

  1. Open your QuickBooks account.
  2. Go to the Help menu.
  3. In the Assistant window, type in “Talk to a human.”
  4. Enter your concern.
  5. Click I still need a human, then Get help from a human.
  6. Select your preferred support method:
    • Start a chat (Live chat)
    • Get a callback from the next available expert

 

Once everything is good, you can use this information to review and categorize your downloaded transactions: Categorize and match online bank transactions.

When I started the thread in 2018 I really thought there would be a resolution to this issue. Why are we paying for something that doesn't work and only gets automated response to complaints. What a joke

I can only agree with your assessment.  At least they could just tell us something changed and they are unable to fix it.  Instead we get tons telling us to do this or that insignificant thing that we already know from experience doesn't work.

The best work around I can give is to use veryfi.com and import transactions and copies ilof receipts this way.  You still do not have downloads to match to and ensure all receipts are in but having receipts is the best audit insurance you can have.  I would not use the qbo receipt feature because it us intelligence lacking and takes too much time.  If no receipt then you will have to hand key these in.  QBO has had over 3 years to fix this BOA corporate account issue with multi cards.  I am no longer expecting to see one now, would be nice but I won't bank on it.

Is there a solution to this issue? Because after coming from desktop (forced to get online because intuit stops supporting payroll) I am utterly dissatisfied with how QB online was set up. 

I have 2 CORP master accounts which also have 2 credit card subaccounts under each of these master accounts. I can either connect the Master or the subaccounts. Which means, I am not able to reconcile the accounts properly. 

I've reached out to two individual agents, and was not able to find a solution. Quickbook, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE YOU PUSH OUR YOUR CLIENTS!!!

I cannot believe how long this has been an issue.  How hard would it be to allow the bank to connect to QuickBooks and download the transactions as they do for checking accounts or even to download the transactions the old way into a csv that could be uploaded into QuickBooks?  Typing in all the transactions is a huge time waster!!!!!!!!

Is your issue with corporate cards on Bank of America or another?  BoA has had this issue with Intuit for several years now and it started after one of their or the banks updates.  In all honesty, I have all but given up on their ability to set this right. I have my clients use veryfi and what receipts they don't get in I hand enter.  It is a definite hindrance.

Yes, it is with corporate cards.  It is so ridiculous because Bank of America is only in the business of credit cards these days.  My favorite teller at B of A was fired for not signing up enough credit cards.  They don't tell you that their cards don't work with QuickBooks or with ApplePay.  These are not obscure platforms with few users.

Yep, corp BoA credit card accounts. However, this issue is not an issue with Quickbook Desktop. This ONLY happens for Quickbook Online. I am switching back to Quickbook desktop and it is a nightmare trying to convert back to QB desktop. I am very disappointed with QBO.

After playing with the system and talking with multiple agents, I can say the issue is within quickbook online. Here's how I tested my theory:
1) I went back to Quickbook desktop, I was able to connect Master Corp account AND the sub-credit card accounts at the same time and download individual transactions simultaneously without issue 2)By connecting either the Master or the subaccount, individual transactions does come through, just cannot connect both together.

My work-around:
1) Link all sub credit card accounts, download all transactions and approve of all transactions.
2) Go back into Banking, under "link accounts" select "Manage connections" and unlink the sub credit card accounts
3) Link the Master CORP account
4) Update and download all transactions then approve of all transactions

Now you can reconcile and have updated information. This is by far the best way I can come up with that by-pass this connection issue AND have the correct account information. 

I seriously hope QuickBooks can do something about this... This is not too much to asked for. This has been an on-going issue since 2018!

Wow reading through this 4 year long debacle was really, really disheartening. I've just run into this same issue for my company and my team of highly experienced accountants are completely dumbfounded. To discover this thread of people politely doing their absolute best to petition for a fix here and to see Quickbooks' employees just robotically respond with the same responses for FOUR YEARS is insanity. 

I will look into a different bookkeeping solution ASAP. Good luck and godspeed to everyone sticking with the fight here.

Just wanted to follow up here with a solution I figured out. I found that a lot of times with the way BofA sets up sub-account corporate cards, they don't always properly get connected to the account that's linked to Quickbooks. You can tell this is the case if you login to the BofA account linked to QB and do not see the specific cardholder account on the account view. You may see it when you click into the "view account" but if it's not immediately available on the account overview page that means BofA has not properly associated the accounts. All it takes is a call and ask to have them properly linked. Doing this I was able to see an employee's card account in QB to connect after a couple business days. Hope this info helps someone!

mikesteezie - when you say that all it takes is a call to have the accounts properly linked on the B of A site, were you able to speak to someone that actually knew what you were talking about? In my situation, BofA has the individual cards properly linked to the corporate account. QBO just can't see them because all it sees are what I see in BofA on the main landing page for the accounts tab. i.e.QBO only sees the corporate account and one of the three cards.

 

How did you tell BofA to "properly link" the individual cards to the corporate account?

I'm curious as to how you were even able to link all of your sub accounts. We have two credit card sub accounts (one for my husband and one for myself) under one corporate account and when I try to link them with QB the only accounts that show up are my credit card and the corporate account. My husband's card simply never shows up no matter what steps I take. His purchases don't get pulled into QB even under the corporate account so at this point I'm just manually uploading his transactions otherwise half of our expenses would never make their way into QB.

The person I spoke to at BofA didn’t understand the particular QBO issue but did discover that the specific cardholder account not showing up on the main account overview meant that sub account wasn’t fully connected to that specific login. They described it as a matter of adding a social security number on the back end and then connecting it. It took a couple of days and then all of a sudden the cardholder account started showing up on the main view and then subsequently QBO was able to pick it up when I resynced

as mentioned above you can try giving BofA a call and tell them that you can’t see all the cardholder accounts when you login. It’s a BofA issue on the backend. Once they connect it properly you’ll be able to sync to QBO

Thank you so much! When I spoke to BoA they said the issue was simply the log in I was using when trying to link the accounts on QBO. I was logging in with my personal BoA log in which only shows the business credit card under my name and SS#. So it was as simple as adding the corporate credit card under my husband's name to my account log in.

Good news! Aside from connecting with a live representative through the Help (?) menu, you can directly dial the support's phone number following these steps:

 

  1. Open this link: QuickBooks Online Support.
  2. Get the number under the Can't get signed in? section.

 

On the other hand, here's an article you can open to get more tips about linking bank accounts to QuickBooks: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online. Once your bank is connected, your entries will be downloaded automatically. All you have to do is to review and categorize them.

I too am curious about why this is.  It has been an issue for at least 8 years, maybe longer.  The Bank of America has no interest in working with businesses.  They just want to sell mortgages and credit cards to consumers.  In addition to not connecting multiple credit cards from the same company so God forbid you could pay them with one payment, they will not connect a business credit card to Apple Pay and have recently stopped connecting to Experian.  You just have to spend hours every month entering all your charges by hand.
