Hi there, @yummyj.
I've conducted research here and found out that this investigation is still in progress about Bank of America. We don't have a specific time-frame to when it will be resolved. Rest assured, our software engineers are working hard to resolve this issue permanently.
I'll keep you posted once we received updates about this. If you're done contacting our QuickBooks Care Team, then you should expect an email notification from our developers.
If not, I recommend reaching out to our Technical Support Team. They have to collect personal data to add your company and product to the list of affected users. To ensure you'll get an update about the resolution status. We'll be sending you updates via email once we get this sorted out and I'll also keep this thread on track.
Here's how to contact our support team:
Due to the outbreak, we have limited staffing and have reduced our hours to 6:00 A.M. -6:00 P.M. PT Mon-Fri and some products will only have chat support during this situation. Rest assured, we will resume normal hours as soon as possible.
Please let me know if you have any other issues or concerns. I want to ensure everything is taken care of for you. Have a great day!
I spoke to different people with QB over the last 2 1/2 months about this problem. Most recently, last Friday,y 1st. That person said QB knows about the problem and is working on it. They took my name, email and phone number. I have not heard a word from QB with an update.
QB no longer recognizes the .qbo file for the additional cardholders with Bank of America business credit cards, it only recognizes the umbrella cardholder. It has not recognized the .qbo file for the additional cardholders for the Bank of America business credit cards for me since February 21st, 2020. I have gone through literally every single step that QB suggests, talked to the QB help people, talked to BofA, etc... and nothing works.
Is there really anyone at QB working on a solution for this or are we as paying customers just screwed? I understand things are slower because of quarantine but this problem has been going on for me since February 21st.
I am having similar issues with American Express additional cardholders. That one is a total mess because QB pulls in some transactions from the additional cardholders into the umbrella card and some it doesn't. I had gone through over 4 hours on the phone with QB to fix the Amex and they had me split out the additional cardholders into sub-accounts but then some of the transactions for the wub-account go to the sub-accounts and some go to the umbrella account.
It seems like there are constant problems with the credit cards and QB and it seems like QB doesn't actually fix the problems. It causes more work for paying customers and ends up not working in the end.
Please repair all of these problems already!
I understand it can get frustrating to have your issues at repeated occurrences, @taborlake.
QuickBooks connection with Bank of America is a read-only type. When your bank performs its maintenance update, this integration is automatically disconnected for security purposes.
Connectivity issues usually occur when there are changes that your bank implements on their end. Once this is reported, our Product Developers perform an investigation to re-establish the integration of your bank and QuickBooks. Also, banking related concerns usually require troubleshooting steps that need to be performed more than one attempt. Rest assured, your banking concerns are taking cared of. Once updates are released, it will be applied directly to your account. Also, you'd be notified through email.
On the other hand, I thank you for the screenshot of the actual error you've received while trying to import your bank transaction using the WebConnect process. Let's make sure that you're using these valid file format: CSV, QFX, QBO, or OFX format only.
Lastly, make sure that there's no prompt that needs your attention your Bank of America's account management service portal. You can use this article for more detailed instructions: Bank of America Online Banking in QuickBooks.
In this unprecedented time for everyone - a time that, for many, is filled with uncertainty, we appreciate your patience with us. Don’t hesitate to leave a comment below if you have other questions about receiving automatic bank updates. I’m always here to help.
This is certainly an unprecedented time for the world. Unrelated to that I have tried very hard to not be overly frustrated with Intuit for it's failure to fix the Bank of America issue. This issue started back in 2018, if you go back and read my varied posts regarding it. My client was able to download BoA credit card transactions for each card on their Corporate card account. Starting in 2018, it would continue to download connected accounts but you could not add new cards at all. I have called Intuit, emailed, been online with Intuit help, all to no avail. I have used Intuit for years as do many of my clients and this is beyond frustrating. At one point it stopped downloading anything. I have been advised here to download a cvs and incorporate that (which is fully useless for a company) You see, that would go into the register and would take massive time to assimilate that spreadsheet to import and there is no way to auto map convenient stores and job cost items among a variety of others and there is no way to include receipts as backup. We used that download to ensure the foreman on the jobs were getting their receipts in through a receipt capture system. Whatever matched was there and whatever had no match was either missing or their receipt entry had issues. It helped because they have men always in the field and out town. We have gotten use to Intuit's failure in regards to this and while it makes corporate card reconciliations much more time consuming it does work.
I have had so many of Intuit's varied people respond with the cvs download idea (worthless) and that with "how to connect a card" or " to connect the Master acct" which downloads exactly nothing. You must download the individual data or you get nothing.
This issue is not related to the current pandemic in any way. It is a frustrating nearly two year old issue that has greatly intrigued me that Intuit has not managed to resolve the issue. It makes a person think about looking for another platform.
I appreciate your remarks and the time it took for you to reply to this issue, but what the Intuit community, your customers and my customers need is a resolution.
I strongly hope that will be forthcoming. To be sure, just before I replied to this I once again checked that connection ability and it is still grossly broken. The only way to fix it is to fix it. Downloading cvs reports as some have continued to reply is worthless as is connecting to the main account.
Yes, I am using the correct .qbo file format.
Yes, I am able to connect to Bank of America.
Yes, I can connect and sync all of my checking accounts by hitting the update button in QB.
Yes, I can get my regular Bank of America credit card transactions by hitting the update button in QB.
There is no prompt needing my attention in my Bank of America account management service portal.
No, I cannot upload the .qbo files into QB that I download from Bank of America for the additional cardholders.
Nothing has changed with what I am doing and have done for over a year other than since the end of February, I get that error message telling me the uploaded file isn't a valid Web Connect file (even though it is).
Please help!
YES!!! Everything that Tena said is spot on! This problem has nothing to do with the current quarantine. This problem has been going on for years and is never fixed. Bandaids are put on once in a while that either don't work, cause more work or only work for a month.
This is a serious problem that QB/Intuit is not fixing.
The same problem now happens with American Express with the additional cardholders
I need to find a different platform if this stuff can't be fixed. Paying customers should be able to simply hit the update button and have ALL of the transactions from ALL of their accounts and ALL of the additional cardholders can sync as it did a few years ago.
The fact that in 2018 I had to create sub-accounts for each cardholder and then download the file for each account from my bank and then upload each of them into QB because QB could no longer get the information for each cardholder was a major pain in the neck but I did it. NOW, even that won't work. Nothing since the end of February has been able to upload. ARGH!
Hello, @taborlake.
I know waiting for an update from our Engineering team can be time-consuming, but I have good news to share.
According to the latest email sent out about the INV, the next update is currently scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2020. This means you can expect another email on that date with the details of the connection status between QuickBooks and Bank of America.
Feel free to post below if you have any other questions. Enjoy the rest of your evening.
Is QB actually working on a fix for this serious problem? How long will it take until we can actually manually upload a proper .qbo file from Bank of American business credit card additional cardholders? It has been since February 20th, 2020 for me so if I have to wait until May 21st, it is a full three months without the ability to get my transactions.
I know you've been through a lot already, taborlake.
Please know that our main goal here is to help our customers save time and keeping things simple for you when doing a task in QuickBooks. For now, we're unable to give you a turn around time as to when this will be fixed. Rest assured that this has been worked on with our engineers.
As mentioned by my colleague on her recent reply that the next update is currently scheduled for May 21, 2020.
Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated while we're working for a permanent fix.

My recommendation is to start using Veryfi to upload all credit card and debit card transactions. You then have a receipt attached to each entry. Takes a bit to set up and you will need to check for errors inside Veryfi but its a receipt system that has been a lifesaver. It is so much better than QBO downloads which contain no receipts and which will not support you in an audit. The only thing I ever used download for was to veryfi the varied employees were putting receipts in, which I do check. Hit me up if you decide to use it and need help. It's greatlh worth the small expense. QBO receipts are acquired and take a lot of work to get into the system as a recorded transaction. Veryfi takes a bit when you snap the pic, choose the chart of accts but you can stitch two receipts together to have the main meal and add the small total receipt with tip and you can easily stitch long receipts. Check it out, it will solve so many issues.
It is now Sep 10, 2020 and there is still no progress being made by Bank of America and Intuit to maintain a stable bank connection with BofA Credit Card accounts. No feeds to sub-accounts and no .qbo web connect downloads are available. QBO support has no clue why this is still happening. Perhaps sending all support an update advising them that this has been an on-going issue for the past 2 years and it is still an issue. Communicating that no progress has been made might save everybody a lot of time and frustration.
I am having the same issues.
Thanks for joining us here, Rightoway.

I am experiencing the same problem, I have no respond from QB support.
Is anybody figure out how to solve this.
I do not see my sub account when I tried to link.
Hi @seagrlasslane,
Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can provide some information so you can connect your account to QuickBooks Online.
When linking to online banking, you need to know how your bank shares the downloaded transactions. There's some financial institution that allows transactions to download to one account.
Since you're unable to see your sub-account, I suggest connecting the parent/main account. It should download the related transactions into the system. To learn more about the process, please visit this page: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.
Additionally, I recommend visiting the following article to learn how to download files from your bank and import them manually to QuickBooks: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.
Leave a comment below if you have other concerns related to QuickBooks banking. The Community and I will be around to help you.
If we are still talking Bank of America this information is not of value. Bank of America has no info for the main account. You must be able to access and download each sub account. Believe me, I have been fighting over this issue for a couple of years now. I finally just resorted to using their statements and Verify for receipts. This happened when Intuit made changes trying to work with the credit card companies that had apparently made changes on their website and Intuit failed to fix this particular account.
I did all that already , I spend 2 hours with your support trying everything that you mentions even trying to import the .qbo files manually give me an error message. I am really unhappy and frustrated with quickbook online. I payed this quicklook subscription for months now and I am still stuck not able to download my transaction from Bank of America !!!!
The support team was supposed to send me email .. they never answer back. That is the poorest costumer service I never see.
Hello seagrlasslane,
I want to give an assurance that we'll check your online banking issue. If it's a limitation, we say it, but in this case, I believe it’s not because Bank of America is one of the institutions where most of our customers have accounts. Therefore, we take actions on the issues.
On the other hand, I'm taking note of your experience with the Support team, and I'll share it with the relevant departments to improve our care services. I know you didn't have a good experience, but I'm gonna let you contact them again to ask for the status of your case. Only they can ask for your account details to check the status of your concern.
While waiting for the solution, I suggest downloading your bank transactions in a CSV or Excel format. If Excel, save a CSV copy of it. (Save as CSV - Comma delimited value). Then, upload the transactions to QBO, but be sure to format the data to make it acceptable in QBO.
I'm just around if you have other concerns, especially about online banking.
What I have Found is: in Quickbooks Online - If you Set up the Cards as a Main Account as is the Main Corp Card Account - You can Connect to all account and Auto Upload all Transactions.
Quickbooks Does Not Allow you to Web Connect a Sub Account when the Main Account is Web Connected.
This is a QuickBooks Issue. Problem is The Main Corp Account will Always be Out of balance Because @ Bank of America the Cards are a Sub Account of the Main Corp Account and in QuickBooks they all have to be a Main Account.
QuickBooks Please Fix this Issue. It is Very Problematic
Hello, DMT2.
Let me share some information on how you can connect your bank/credit card with QuickBooks Online.
When connecting your bank account and credit card account with QuickBooks, you'll have to determine how your bank sends the downloaded transaction. You'll have to connect only the parent account if the transactions are downloaded to one account. However, if it's downloaded separately, connect only the sub-accounts. Please take a look at these articles for more detailed information:
Once completed, your transactions will be listed under the For Review tab. From there, you can edit, assign, and categorize them. You can use this article to learn more about this process: Categorize Bank transactions.
I'm always here if you need any more help working with bank transactions. Have a great day!
From the Bank they are Downloaded Separately - Main Account and all Sub Accounts. Promo Credits and Payments are downloaded from the Main account. Card Transactions are Downloaded from the Sub Accounts. So the Bank Downloads Separately for the Sub Accounts as well as the Main Account. The Main Account Balance at the Bank Will not match Quickbooks because Quickbooks will not allow Connecting Sub Accounts and Main Account at the Same Time. So that leaves me to Manually Maintain the Main Account (Least Transactions). If QuickBooks would remove that restriction then all would work great.
OK, I see now. Set up the main Account as a Sub account along with the Cards to account for the Payments and Setup a Main Account for Reconciliation that is not Connected. Thanks for your help...
I'm having the same problem with BofA Corp and Employee accounts not downloading all transactions in QBO. The one card uploads all transactions, but he employee card only uploads the payments received and finance charges. No purchase transactions posted. It appears as though this problem is not fixed.
Unfortunately for me, I did not discover this issue until just now and apparently all of 2019's transactions for the one employee card were not uploaded so none of those expenses were filed with 2019 taxes. Now, with the Oct. 15 tax filing deadline 10 days away I have all of 2020 transactions from the one card to figure out how to download so I can deduct expenses.
Pending a fix of this issue, I've discovered it's a nightmare to convert from Excel to CSV format so the uploading file process will work as promised by QBO. Converting to CSV does not delete photos or other unnecessary data from the Excel file, so I'm having to manually delete all that data. Also, the columns are jumbled in the CSV converted documents so when mapping the data from my document to QBO's upload specifications, there is nothing to match to it, so I cannot make this happen.
I cannot believe this continues to be a problem for QBO customers... for two years!! I will now be late with filing my taxes. Yes, I was down to the deadline anyway due to issues... but now I'm really screwed.
I'm looking for other bookkeeping software.
Thanks for nothing.
