Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser. If the same error persists, use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo) as a workaround.

This solution worked! I basically disconnected the bank link and reconnected Chase.com under Firefox browser and it worked. Thanks much!

I am also having this problem establishing a new connection with Chase Bank. We are able to connect to the savings account, just not the checking account. When we establish the connection, it shows two accounts able to connect, but the next step, "making the connection" only shows the savings account. Also, on the screen where QB asks which account to connect to, there are check marks, both are checked and I cannot uncheck either one, or any of the check boxes for that matter.

We have tried incognito, different browsers, clearing cookies, restarting, etc. We do get a message from Chase that the connection is established, just not all of the connections we need!

Tech support confirms this issue.

Same.  QB is a hot pile of garbage. Seriously, my spreadsheets were easier and didn't cost anything.

I can see your frustration. Are you also not able to connect your bank account with QBO?

I've been a QBO user for nearly 15 years and certainly, the learning curve was frustrating. Hiring someone to help me understand the workflows and back end of how the data is being captured was a big help.

Back in the day when the bank feed functionality was introduced, I was afraid to use it. My style is I like to see everything that is happening so I can confirm it is working correctly. Fast forward to today and I appreciate the functionality of the bank feed, especially that I can see my client's cash position relatively close to up to the minute. However, without the functionality of one of their banks and having to keep a log documenting the dates I am manually importing the transactions, it's those extra steps that are starting to make me consider other options.

This known issue put me on the email list for updates on this topic. At first, I was happy about this because I felt progress was being made; however, that happiness was very quickly gone when I received an update that my issue was resolved, when very clearly the issue still persists.

My thought is that QBO does not fully understand the extent of this persistent issue. It's like they're saying "it's not a problem," when I can confirm it still is a problem, as confirmed with every attempt I make to connect the Chase account, including those attempts that are made under the advisement of their tech support team.

My only hope is that someone on the appropriate team reads this and re-opens this investigation. The amount of time and resources I have spent trying to resolve this issue (including writing this post LOL), has resulted in a significant cost to my client which is extremely unfortunate.

Every month I have to deactivate the auto dl.  Then I go the chase and dl the transactions for the month/statement that I am working on. Open the file and bank fees pops up and Then I pick the correct account to d/l to and it works. Until the next month.  I can’t use the bank feed connection because it doesn’t work at all

I'm assuming the person previous is having the same trouble. I get "connection needs to be reestablished" in the bank feed for the ONE chase bank I've been able to connect. It's not worth my time to try to reconnect because A. it doesn't usually work and B. it isn't always accurate.

I've attached a screenshot to show what happens. QBO finds the accounts, but then when it goes to connect, it "loses" the checking account and then doesn't get all the transactions from the savings account it DOES connect to.

I have been importing the bank activity manually and paying VERY careful attention to ensure I do not overlap any dates; however, if any transactions are sitting in "pending" on the bank side, these transactions get missed making reconciliation WAY more time intensive! My client loves Chase bank, but at this point, it is costing her more money for the additional workload.

I've considered switching to Xero, but fear this issue may persist there too.

See attached.

My feed from Chase broke the account into two accounts in quickbooks and for some reason I can't find some of the expenses even if I manually put them in, should I merge them together? They both show different expenses in them and when I go to reconcile they both have the correct starting balances.

Thanks for dropping by this thread, beckie05. You can merge the accounts to handle your situation accordingly. I'll go into details to help you out.

Before merging, ensure there are no duplicate transactions to keep an accurate record after merging the accounts. You can refer to your bank statement to examine for duplications.

Moving on, you'll need to double-check and have an identical Account NameAccount Type, and Detail Type for both accounts to merge. We can proceed by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and then Chart of accounts.
  2. Locate the account you want to keep and click the dropdown arrow under the Action column.
  3. Pick Edit and take note of its Account Name, Account Type, and Detail Type.
  4. You'll also need to review if it's a sub-account or parent account. If it's a sub-account, take note of its parent account.

Once you have all the needed details, let's merge the accounts by navigating to the one you don't want to keep:

  1. Kindly go back to the Chart of accounts and look for the account you don't want to keep.
  2. Click the dropdown arrow under the Action column and select Edit.
  3. Modify the Account name and Detail Type fields so their information matches the account you want to keep. It's also important to know that:
    • If the accounts you're merging are both parent accounts, ensure they don't have sub-accounts linked to them.
    • If both accounts are subaccounts, ensure they have the same parent account.
    • If only one account is a subaccount, edit its Account Type to match the other account's (parent account) type. Doing so makes it a parent account.
  4. Once done, hit Save, then Yes, merge accounts to finish the process.

For additional reference about merging accounts, please review this link: Merge duplicate accounts, customers, and vendors in QuickBooks Online.

Finally, it's essential to reconcile your account regularly to ensure your QuickBooks data matches your bank or credit card statements.

I'll keep this thread open should you have more queries regarding your accounts and the merging process. Just hit the Reply button so I can get back to assist you promptly.
