Currently, there isn't an option to upload/import your company file from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE). The QBSE platform is a stand-alone product and specifically designed for freelancers and self-employed individuals. Whereas QuickBooks Online (QBO) and QBDT are for small-businesses.
You'll have to manually enter your invoices and payment transactions in your QBSE account. Then, you can connect your bank or import older transactions to categorized them accordingly. You can refer to these articles below for the step-by-step guide:
You can learn more about the basics of QBSE through this article: QuickBooks Self-Employed Overview. It answers the most frequently asked questions about the program and self-employed taxes, to name a few.
Also, QuickBooks products are designed to address specific business needs. Each platform can help you manage your business' account efficiently. Here's an article that'll provide the overview of each QuickBooks product, service, and version to guide you in deciding which is best for you: See which version of QuickBooks is right for you.
Let me know in the comments below if you have other importing company data concerns in QuickBooks. I'm just around to help. Take care always.
I would recommend migrating your data from QBD to QBO Simple Start as the lowest plan or Essentials if required.

Otherwise, deploy a private cloud for your QB Desktop.
