Only thing I see is how to delete transactions before they are in the register. I need to delete the ones are already added to the register. Also, even when I delete them one by one, they are still there when I reconcile.
Hey there, shelleys.
Welcome to the QuickBooks Community. I'd be glad to help point you in the right direction.
Deleting multiple
transactions in the register is currently not available in QuickBooks Online (QBO). We'll have to
delete them on an individual basis. Being able
to delete multiple transactions at once would be very convenient. I'd encourage you to submit feedback for
our product engineers to look into and I'll
do the same thing from my side.
Here's how to let them know:
You can make sure any suggestions you have get to our developers.
On the other hand, it's possible the transaction you are deleting has already been reconciled. Deleting your changes put you out of balance the next time you try to reconcile.
Fill me in if you have further questions, I'll be around if you need any help. Have a great day.
This is infuriating. I literally have to sit here and click delete manually on each and every entry, hundreds of times, because you don't have the most basic of functionality? You can't even filter just the entries you want to delete, the actions disappear when you do that, so each time you have to scroll down to find where you last were. This is one of the worst product fails I've ever seen.
Welcome to the Community, @humble226.
The option of deleting multiple transactions in the register isn't available in QuickBooks Online (QBO) yet. You'll have to delete transactions one at a time.
I want to ensure that customers like you are having the best possible experience while working with QuickBooks. If you think this option is what you need for your business, you may submit your feedback/product suggestions straight to our product engineers for future update.
To submit your suggestions, go to the Gear icon, select Feedback, share your feedback or suggestions under the Feedback page, click Next, and send your message.
We value your feedback and want your voice to be heard by addressing all concerns. Feel free to add a comment or drop a post if you have further concerns. We're always here to help you out. Wishing you continued success!
I am having the same issue, having to individually delete each transaction is ridiculous. It would be great if you could add some actual QB users to your development team. This is a very basic function. I have already left feedback for this feature and other very intuitive features that are lacking in QBO (undo reconciliation). I need to delete several years worth of transactions that were downloaded when I switched from Desktop version, there are literally 10,000+ transactions that will take days to delete manually one at a time.
Hello there, @Asch18.
I appreciate you taking time to share your ideas and feedbacks. I can certainly see how deleting your transactions by bulk would be useful to your and your business.
Currently, the ability to exclude your transactions would allow you to have a record of it on the system but will not affect your bank balance or reconciliation at all.
On the other hand, for you to undo a reconciliation you'll have to manually edit each transactions.
We'll be sure to keep adding app features that will help you save time, stay on track, and earn deductions. Check out our blog to see what's in store: https://intuit.me/2L2zqTv.
Thank you for your patience! Feel free to leave a comment below if you have other questions about managing your transactions.
Yes, this IS possible and I have done it before. It requires you to have the local version on your desktop: http://http-download.intuit.com/http.intuit/qbowinclient/download/index.html?referrer=qboApps
Thought I could do it online, as I am now having to do this again after QB was down for over a month, so as soon as I get the steps again I will post.
I'd appreciate if you could let me know. that would be awesome!
are the tech devs going to code us some magic or what?
Hi everyone.
Thanks for joining this thread. Allow me to address your concern, so let me get this straightened out.
As what my colleagues mentioned above, QuickBooks Online (QBO) doesn't have an option to delete multiple transactions in the register. For the meantime, you can delete them one at a time by following the article provided by juVielL. I can see how this feature would be helpful for you in order to delete the register conveniently. You may want to submit this idea to our product developers so they'll be able to include this in their next product update.
Here's how you can send feedback:
Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other questions about bank register. Wishing you and your business continued success.
I am sorry, but this software is terribly thought out and not ready for use. It's just not. There are way too many bugs and you are missing so many features that are available in desktop. Why? Seriously, please give me a reason why this version is so incomplete.
I have an account with over 100 transactions in it and I need to delete them.
Can you please have one of your support staff do this for me? I don't have the time?
P.S . Most of your online support staff are so inexperienced with your software.
Is this feature in the works yet? This is a major missing piece. I spent DAYS manually deleting over 7000 transactions recently. I have left feedback for developers and posted in these threads, I am wondering if this function will be added soon?
Hi, Asch18.
Thank you for following up on this thread. Allow me to provide a little information about deleting multiple transactions in the register via the QuickBooks Online.
I can definitely see how this feature would be useful. As a team with a massive road-map, we have to pick new features based on the value they’ll add to the most users possible.
I can pass along all the feedback you have to the appropriate channels so you're able to reach a point of resolution as quickly as possible.
As always, you can contact our customer care agents if you need help with QuickBooks in the future.
Here's how:
You know where to find me if you have any other questions. Have a great rest of your day.
Please tell me you're joking. This is not a feature request. This is a glitch that is going to cost me an expensive audit.
Your software is not ready for use especially for anyone who migrated from desktop.
My issue is rather severe.
I need to remove some bank accounts with personal expenses so that my P and L can be accurate. When I try to make the account inactive (BTW, it said "delete" up until recently, now it says "make inactive"), it gives me an error telling me I have scheduled liablity payments and recurring transactions. I do not have any.
Hello, brotherjug.
The error when deleting or inactivating an account is what our engineers are currently working with. It’d be best to reach out to our phone support team to add you from the list of affected users.
Here’s how to reach them:
I’ll keep an eye on their investigation and will let you know in this thread once there are updates.
Visit us again if you have other concerns with QuickBooks Online.
Not sure if this helps, But you can go to Banking. then go to the Reviewed section, and undo transactions. Then they can be excluded, and/or deleted.
Saved me over 7000 transactions. (Somehow everything got downloaded twice.)
I do however agree, that this NEEDS to be a feature, because if you don't link your bank - or can't - you are up the proverbial creek. . .
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I don't have the account in banking anymore so adding it back in probably wont' work. I wish I hadn't removed it from the banking tab!
Why couldn't someone at QB online suggest this? it's such a good workaround.
Im using one of the apps that can batch modify transactions. Seems to be working.
Hello there, @brotherjug.
I’m here to provide additional information on how to view the actions made or history of the transactions in QuickBooks Online.
If the transactions are no longer listed under the For Review or Reviewed tab, you can view the audit log in your account to check the changes made to the transactions recorded in the system.
Here’s how to view the audit log:
On the other hand, when a transaction is excluded, it is totally removed from your reports.
You can easily include your transactions again in your Banking list without manually adding its details. Here’s how:
I understand how important it is for you to have the ability to delete the unwanted transactions recorded in your QuickBooks account. I’d personally forward these suggestions to our Product Engineers for consideration in future updates.
If you have any suggestions, feedback and product requests for improvement, you can directly send it to us.
Here’s how:
I appreciate your patience, but feel free to contact me here if you have other questions about managing your transactions in QuickBooks Online. In the meantime, stay tuned to our Community page for new product updates and releases.
Yet another reason that Quickbooks Online is just awful. I should have listened to my accountant and switched to Xero sooner. Way better solution.
Thank you!
This comment saved me a ton of time. I agree with everyone else that shouldn't be an issue, but I'm very grateful that this workaround did the trick in my situation.
I'm glad the provided workaround works for you, Tivo.
I'd also recommend sending feedback to our Product Development Team. They'll put your suggestion into consideration for future product updates.
Thanks again for letting us know about this. You can always reach out to us if you need anything else.
Also, I want to add for anyone else, I found out one of the main reasons for my issue was all of my bank rules that were set up to automatically send transactions into the register. When I accidentally imported 2 years worth of transactions rather than the 1 month I intended, the bank rules sent all those duplicates into the books. I first had to change those bank rules to not automatically add to the books before I could use this workaround successfully.
