How do I fix the bank connection issue? thank you

Which bank? Have you tried open your QBSE account on private/incognito browser?

How do I fix the bank connection issue? thank you

I want to ensure you'll be able to connect your bank account to QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE) seamlessly, @aimee-es-aol-com.

Do you mind sharing the name of your bank? This way, I can check if there's an ongoing investigation related to your concern.

In most cases, bank connection issues happen when:

  • The bank is performing system maintenance.
  • There are notifications from their website that need your attention.

To isolate this, you can start by logging into your bank's website to review if there are alerts that need your attention. Once signed in, perform the following steps:

  1. Review your account page for messages, notifications, or alerts.
  2. Check your bank’s website for any announcements.
  3. Perform the needed action (if there's any).
  4. Go back to QuickBooks, then connect your account.

You can also connect your account using a private window. This way, we can determine if this a browser-related issue. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If this works, you can clear the cache and cookies of your browser. If not, you can use another supported browser. Possible that your current browser may have a temporary issue with QuickBooks.

Once resolved, let's go to the Transactions tab and categorize the transactions to ensure your financial records are correct. To learn more about this process, visit this article: Categorizing Transactions

Be sure to keep in touch by leaving a comment below. We want to ensure this matter gets resolved. Have a good one

Come on...

This is a quick books issue that you haven't sorted out for nearly a year.

It's not only a pisstake taking our money but it's also very frustrating that you will prefer to blame it on all three of my banks.

Sort it out

Same issue with Macatawa Bank here. Says I have to sign in on my online banking app and manually download transactions?!

Let's ensure that you connected to the correct link, Shane616.

You can try connecting your bank account using a website instead of using the app. If you connected the bank through the website and you still get the same message, you'll want to reach out to the bank and verify how they manage their bank transactions.

You'll want to check out these links that will help you handle your bank feeds if you're using QuickBooks Self-Employed or QuickBooks Online:

Let me know if you have other questions about banking or need anything in QuickBooks. I'll be right here if you need anything else.

@Shane616

Utilize the trial version of MT Online to isolate the issue. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QB, so there is no specific setting needed. If the same error persists, there is an ongoing problem at your bank or connection.

I joined QBOnline almost a year ago and still can not connect to my bank. I have called customer support (several times) and been given a ticket that they are working on it, but its still not fixed. So frustrating. No communication, no follow up, nothing except paying for a service that doesnt work.

Hello, if you do not mind sharing, what is the name of the bank?

Royal Bank of Canada. When I sign in it asks me one of my security questions. I answer but QB tells me it's not the answer it was looking for. Which is incorrect. I know it is the correct answer. To make things worse, every time I try this, it causes me to get locked out of my actual business bank account and I have to reverify my security questions.

I have exactly the same thing with Royal, and am going to leave both Royal and QB because of this. QB, this is the most basic of functions for an accounting software package. Why do I have to be searching a forum to find this? And Royal certainly isn't an obscure bank...

Thank you for letting us know about this banking issue for Royal Bank of Canada, Dave.

Not being able to use the banking features in QuickBooks can be a deal-breaker, especially if you have other tasks. With this we want to make sure this issue is being looked into.

If this is a recurring issue and is ongoing for quite some time now, I do suggest that you contact us directly to report the problem to our engineers. Our live representatives can help escalate this issue to our Financial Services Department. Here's how to contact Support:

  1. Go to the Help menu in QuickBooks, then choose the Search tab.
  2. At the bottom click on Contact us.
  3. Enter the keyword Banking, Account Management and Billing in the What can we help you with? box.
  4. On the next screen, scroll down to How would you like to connect with us section.
  5. Choose your contact option to initiate a discussion with a live agent.

In the meantime, try doing the following steps and see if makes any difference:

  1. Log into your QuickBooks account and go to the Banking tab.
  2. Click on the account that's having the issue, then select the Pencil Icon to edit.
  3. Select Edit Account Info.
  4. Fill in the details of your bank account and try to re-establish the connection with the bank feed.

To learn more about fixing online banking issues, see this article: What to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error?

For now, if the transactions are not coming in and you're in rush to get bank transactions in your account for reconciliation, upload them manually. Download the data from your bank then map the transactions in a CSV file.

Once it is ready, start importing the file to your QuickBooks Online company. Follow these steps:

  1. Open your QBO account and tap the Banking menu.
  2. Click the Link Account drop-down.
  3. Tap the Upload from file option.
  4. Press Browse and choose the file you want to upload.
  5. Choose an QBO file from the list, then Open.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to map the fields.
  7. Select the transactions to import.
  8. Click Yes then Let’s go.

When the online banking connection is reconnected, the bank might re-download the transactions that were not fetched before. To avoid any duplicates, exclude them in the For Review tab. Here's how:

  1. Go to the For Review tab.
  2. Mark the box next to each transaction you want to exclude.
  3. Select Exclude from the pop-up at the top.

Excluded transactions are then moved to the Excluded tab, and won’t be added to QuickBooks or be downloaded again. To permanently delete duplicate entries, put a check mark on them, then hit Delete.

To learn more about mapping and uploading bank entries, see the following article:

Kindly update me with the result of the call, as I want to make sure this banking concern is fully fixed. I'll be more than glad to share additional insights and assistance if you need it any time.
