I have a chase parent credit card and a child credit card. I only want to reconcile at the parent level. Which card should I link to the bank feed?

The details of your concern are cleared enough to answer it with ease, ghostf4ce.

You'll want to connect the parent account to QuickBooks Online. This'll allow the system to downloaded the bank transactions including the ones on the child credit card.

  1. Select Banking on the left menu and go to the Banking tab.
  2. Click Connect account or Add account.
  3. Search your bank and click Continue to log in to the account.
  4. Select the parent account and connect it to the account in QuickBooks. You can create a bank account if necessary.
  5. Set a date range of the transactions you want to download.
  6. Click Connect.

From there, you can Add, Match, or Transfer the downloaded bank transactions. You can use this link for the detailed steps: Download, match, and categorize your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Thanks for the reply. I've done that and I still get just the balance and no transactions. Someone on reddit suggested checking the statement from the credit card account and that the account number on that statement may be different from either credit card #. They suggested putting that # in once we have it. Does that make any sense?

Hello there, ghostf4ce,

It seem that the transactions are all in the sub-account. You'll want to connect that instead. Furthermore, after reconciliation, it will follow-through on the parent account.

Just follow the steps provided by my colleague above in connecting the account.

I've tried connecting it three ways now.. parent account only, child account only, and both accounts. In every instance, the current balance initially reflects correctly but then no transactions are downloaded and no updates happen to the balance over time even when I press the update button to refresh the bank balance. Any other thoughts?

It could be that you're unable to connect the correct account, Ghostf4ce. I'd like to explain how it works.

When connecting the parent account and its sub-accounts, we'll have to know how your bank sends the transactions. If they're downloaded to one account, you'll have to connect the parent only. If they're downloaded to the child accounts, you'll have to connect them instead. For more information, let me share the article about bank or credit card subaccount setup

Although, if you've connected the right account, you can check this article on what to do if bank transactions won’t download or there's a bank error
