Paypal automatically adding transactions into GL

The paypal bank feed is automatically importing transactions into my GL into dozens of our accounts with seemingly no rhyme or reason without going to the Review tab in the bank feeds. I don't have any rules setup that would be doing this. Is there a way to fix this?

Hey there, @dealmachine.

Thanks for following up with us and letting us know what you're exactly looking for.

From reviewing your concerns, I think I see what's going on here. It sounds like you're connected by bank feeds and through a third party app.

Essentially, when you're connected via app, the transactions will come in automatically. Whereas, if you're solely connected through bank feeds, you'll have the option to review/approve the transactions.

Therefore, if you're connected to both, then the transactions are going to automatically add in due to the app. If you'd like to see what apps you're connected to, check out the steps I've included below.

  1. From the left menu, select Apps then My Apps.

If you decide to disconnect the app, you can use these steps:

  1. Click on the Action dropdown menu, then Disconnect. Please Note: If you can't find Disconnect in the menu, tap on Settings, then locate the Disconnect button on the settings page.
  2. Complete the short questionnaire.
  3. Select Confirm Disconnect to remove the app from your company profile.

You can see more details about this process in Disconnect an app from QuickBooks Online.

I hope this helps. Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have further questions or concerns. Take care!

Paypal automatically adding transactions into GL

Hi dealmachine,

Welcome and thank you for posting your concern on your PayPal transactions.

Yes, there's a solution to this. Let me share a thread with a similar concern, and you can follow the steps given by my colleague. It's about removing PayPal transactions via the Banking or App transactions page. Please check this out: https://intuit.me/3xHLd0E

She also added articles about deleting transactions in case you can't undo them from Banking or App transactions.

Let me know if you need further assistance. I just want to ensure that you're able to successfully remove your transactions.

The link you provided has nothing to do with my request.

Bank feeds for the Paypal account are automatically importing transactions into many different general ledger accounts, skipping the review process altogether.

This solved my issue. In bank feeds I needed to edit the Paypal Bank and disable "Automatically add transactions to Quickbooks".

Paypal automatically adding transactions into GL

Hi there,

I am not sure you will get this but the same thing is happening to me and QB responses are no help.  Can you clarify what you mean by you had to edit "Paypal bank and disable automatically edit transactions"?  I don't have a rule and I don't see the option under chart of accounts editing Paypal bank.

I'll lay out the details on how to fix the issue you're having with your PayPal bank feeds, @dswazes.

What dealmachine is referring to is editing your PayPal login credentials in the Banking feed. Then disable the Auto-add rule feature which automatically accepts bank feeds transactions.

Since you're not using bank rules, I recommend editing your PayPal sign info to isolate this issue. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions or Banking menu in your QuickBooks Online (QBO).
  2. Click the Banking tab.
  3. Select your PayPal account.
  4. Click the Edit next to the bank name then, select Edit sign-in info.
  5. Enter your updated bank password.
  6. Select Save and connect
  7. Click I'm done, Let's go!.

Once done, log out and log back in to your QBO to refresh the system and for the updates to take effect.

When everything is set, you might want to categorize your transactions whenever you're ready.

In case you need more help with your PayPal and banking feeds, please let me know in your reply. I'm always here to lend a hand.
