Buy nowI am the bookkeeper at my church's ministry. We have several different groups donating to our ministry who would like us to show how we've spent the money they sent us. I originally set it up as income (for the donations) and expenses (how we spent it) but it is not easy to tell from this how much is left of the donations. I can eventually figure it out with how I have it set up, but I'd like to set it up in a way that makes it easy to see how much is left of a deposit. Can anyone give advice on how to do this?
You should utilize the class tracking and jobs feature to separate "groups" and "projects". Make sure you are using QB Desktop Premier, not Pro edition.
I actually only have Pro, so I assume that is not the same in this version?
Explore the following reference. Can you create Jobs on QBD Pro?

Hello there, @a_f_m1. You're right!
QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) have different versions available with unique features.
The Job Costing and Class tracking features are available only in Premier Plus and Accountant Desktop. Thus, in QuickBooks Desktop Pro, it's not an option. I'd suggest checking out these articles to learn how these features work:
In addition, you can visit this page to see the comparison between the Premier Plus versions. Plans & Pricing. It helps you select the program that suits your business needs.
For future reference, you can read this article if you want to see a snapshot of your business: Understand Reports.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm here to help you anytime. Have a great day!
Thanks! I don't think we want to upgrade for now. The Jobs and Classes do work on Pro but as I'm playing with it a bit it doesn't seem to be working the way I want it to. I may just have to try things out till we get a solution.
Thanks! I can create jobs but it wasn't showing up in the jobs for some reason. I may just have to play with it and see if I can get it to work.
