I am having the same issue on our Business Bank of America Alaska Airlines credit cards. QB tells me to call BofA... BofA tells me to call QB... so frustrating.
Ultimately the bank feed system is working, but only pulling in the payments and not the transactions.
BofA has the credit card system setup so the Corporate account is where payments are made, but credit card transactions are made on individual cards. When doing the Bank Feed transfer it only pulls over the payments made on the corporate account.
I can create 2 separate bank feeds one for the corporate account and one for each credit card, but this doesn't remedy the problem. The corporate account would then always show payments and the individual cards would always show charges, they would never balance out...
I can only imagine what you've been through, @KSchadel.
I recognize how beneficial it is for you to have your Bank of America transactions downloaded seamlessly from QuickBooks Desktop.
Before you begin, you have to ensure that you back up your company file, update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release, and make sure you have a supported version of QuickBooks to have the latest info from your financial institution to update the Financial Institutions list.
Let's now proceed in updating your Financial Institutions Directory in QuickBooks Desktop:
Solution 1: Automatic update
QuickBooks processes the update for you.
Solution 2: Manual update
If you need to update manually, confirm that you update each file location for every QuickBooks version you use.
Once done your Financial Institution list is now up to date.
In addition, since you mentioned that Bank of America has the credit card system set up and that the corporate account is used for making payments, but individual credit card transactions are made on separate cards, I recommend coordinating with the bank to learn how Bank of America downloads transactions into QuickBooks.
Additionally, you can refer to these articles to help you speed up the review process of categorizing and matching your bank and credit card statements so you can manage and keep your account balanced In QuickBooks Desktop:
Should you require additional assistance with any of these steps or have other concerns regarding your bank transactions, leave a comment below and I'll get back right away. Stay safe, @KSchadel!
I have hard time to download bank of american business credit card transactions to QBDT 2024 accountant version , the worst is so hard to call in to get QB live support , I have been calling more than 4 times this morning from one to another and none of them can help, they transfer my call from one to another , the last one picked up ,my call, sounds like she is sleeping in bed , use a very blur mic phone not even able to hear, when i repeated my question three times , she still not get it and ask me again , and finally she told me if i still not able to hear from her bad connection call , i can hangup to call another agent , i guess she can sleep back, this is WFH , not sure QB knows how poor their support is now.
I completely understand the frustration. It seems like a lot of employees at that level haven't used the software and don't truly know how it works... which is very unfortunate.
Just a heads-up that I'm using the desktop version so my instructions will be from that viewpoint. What I ended up doing was
1. Created a Chart of Account (COA) called "12. BofA Credit Cards". This account will be the main account for the credit cards to encompass both purchases and payments.
2. Then I went into Bank Feeds (Banking/Bank Feeds/Bank Feeds Center)
3. "Add Account" (at the top left of the window) and added both the Employee Card 6902 (where charges come through) and the Main Account 6379 (where payments are processed).
4. Then I downloaded transactions like normal for each account.
5. I then went back into the COA and found the BofA cc's that were added (6902 and 6379) and made them subaccounts of the "12. BofA Credit Cards" COA. (See screenshot attachment)
6. When I go to Reconcile (Banking/Reconcile) I pull up the COA "12. BofA Credit Cards".
