Welcome to the Community space, MandieJH. There are various reasons why you're unable to add back to QuickBooks Online your bank account.

If your account was deactivated in QuickBooks Online (QBO), one possible reason could be its inactive status. In such cases, you might face difficulties in re-adding the bank account to QBO. It's essential to verify the account's status and take necessary steps to reactivate it if needed, ensuring seamless integration and management of your financial data within the platform.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Settings ⚙ and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Find the account you want to delete.
  3. Select the Action ▼ dropdown and select Make inactive.

Furthermore, to confirm if your bank is supported, go to your bank's website and copy the URL from the address bar. Then, log in to your QuickBooks account and proceed with the following steps:

  1. On the left pane, select Transactions.
  2. Press the Add transaction dropdown, and choose Add Bank Account.
  3. Paste your bank's URL.
  4. Enter your ID and Password, then click Connect.

If you're still having trouble locating your bank, request assistance by following these instructions:

  1. Go to the profile icon and select Connect Bank.
  2. Search for the name of your financial institution. Since you are unable to find your bank, you'll get a message. This includes helpful tips to try and locate your bank account.

So the problem is not linking the bank.
The bank account no longer exists. So I’m not trying to re-add the bank account.

I have “uncategorized assets” that are from the bank that I can not longer add.
I need to know how I can move the transactions from the uncategorized assets to a different chart of account ?

if anyone has any advice, I’d appreciate it

Closed Account Uncategorized Assets

Hello there, MandieJH.

When a bank account is closed, it becomes inactive in QuickBooks Online (QBO). To move the uncategorized assets, reactivate the account, and reclassify the assets to ensure proper recording and categorization.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Transactions menu and then Chart of Accounts.
  2. Click the Gear icon beside the Print button.
  3. Put a checkmark beside Include inactive.
  4. Locate the bank account, then click Make Active under the Action column.
  5. Choose the Uncategorized Asset transaction.
  6. From the Action column, click the drop-down arrow, then tap Edit.
  7. Assign it to the correct account in the Account window.
  8. Hit Save and Close
