Join nowSo two of my credit cards have stopped syncing. I can see the PDF for some of the statements but they are not importing to QB.
A QB rep told me that I need to get a "file" from the credit card company to download transactions into QB.
Seriously? Have you ever tried to do that? I've spent the morning talking to visa card people who keep sending me to yet another clueless person who can't help.
Isn't there a way to add each transaction into QB as a credit card transaction?
I'm not a big company just a small, semi-retired person running out of patience and wondering why on earth I pay for this system.
Solved! Go to Solution.
My pleasure to have you back. I can definitely help you add each of your transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @KrisTalk.
You can enter your transaction manually through the +New icon. Then, select the transaction type you want to record from the options available.
Alternatively, you can add them directly to your register.
I'm also adding this article as your reference: Manually add transactions to account registers in QuickBooks Online.
If you wish to, you can also prepare an Excel CSV file for your bank data, then upload them to QBO. These materials will guide you through the process:
Once your transactions are available in QuickBooks, it's time for you to review and categorize them so you can proceed with your reconciliation.

I'm here to ensure you're able to get your bank feeds working again, @KrisTalk. This way, you can keep your accounts updated and manage your transactions accordingly.
Before we start, I want to make sure I've got everything covered. Can you share the name of your financial institution and any error message you've encountered while downloading your bank transactions? This way, I can provide the exact solution for this matter.
Your credit card company is either performing system maintenance, or there are notifications on their website that need your attention. That's why they stop syncing transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
When your financial institution performs system maintenance, you can manually update your account. This refreshes the connection between your bank and the program. Here's how:
Then, you can sign in to your credit card's website. This is to check your account page for messages or alerts that need your attention. Once you make changes on the website (for example, login credentials and account information), you'll have to update QuickBooks as well. Here's how:
Once your transactions are downloaded, all you have to do is review and/or match them to the existing entries in QuickBooks. This will keep your account updated.
Also, I encourage you to reconcile your accounts in QBO regularly (every month). This helps monitor your income and expense transactions and detect possible errors accordingly. You may want to check out this article as your reference to guide you in doing and fixing reconciliations in QBO: Learn the reconcile workflow in QuickBooks.
I'm all ears if you have other banking concerns or questions about managing transactions in QBO. You can drop a comment below, and I'll gladly help. Take care always, @KrisTalk.
Another option, use MT Online or one of the converter tools (e.g csv2qbo) as a workaround.

I need to know how to add each individual transaction since they didn't download. I do not have many, so it is not a problem. I just cannot figure out how to add them.
Thank you inadvance.

Thank you for your previous assistance. I am moving along, finding new issues I don't know how to resolve.
Can you tell me how to go about changing an opening balance in the reconciliation section? I overpaid on a credit card. Now te opening balance to record is a credit.
Thanks for getting back here, @KrisTalk. I'm here to help you change the opening balance in the reconciliation section in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If the reconciliation is not yet saved, you can simply edit the balance. If it's already saved, you'll have to undo the reconciliation and enter the correct beginning balance. If you don't have an accountant, you need to manually unreconcile each transaction.
For reference, check out this article: Fix issues for accounts you've reconciled in the past in QuickBooks Online.
Then, to record the credit card transaction, just use the Credit Card Credit feature. Here's how:
Once done, you can now proceed in reconciling your account.
After that, the program will automatically create a report after the session. You can use this as a reference to avoid mistakes when doing reconciliation in the future: How do I view, print, or export a reconciliation report?.
Keep me posted if you have any concerns managing your reconciliation in QuickBooks. Have a good one and stay safe.
Allow me to chime in on this conversation, @KrisTalk and clarify things so you'll correctly edit your opening balance.
The steps provided by my colleague above is both for new and current accounts. However, when it comes to the opening balance of your current account or the account you've had for a while, I'd recommend starting your opening balance on the same day as the beginning of your next bank statement.
You may refer to this article for more information in editing your opening balance: Edit an opening balance in QuickBooks Online.
Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you in case you need to make changes after you reconcile: Edit completed reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

I’d be happy to join this thread to assist you, @KrisTalk.
Since you have overpaid your credit card, we can create a Credit card Credit transaction instead of changing your account’s opening balance. This way, the transaction will show as credit and balance your account. Here’s how:
After the process, you can reconcile your account to keep your books accurate, I'd suggest doing it every month. Please refer to this article for further information on the specific steps: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online. It also contains information on how to edit completed reconciliations.
Feel free to add a reply if you have more concerns about balancing your account. Have a great day!
I am working in QB Desktop Pro Plus 2023 and one of my credit cards stopped syncing in the bank feeds. I have disabled the feed in QB. I have disconnected the link from the Chase website. I have reset everything up again, and it still doesn't work. My other credit cards (also with Chase) are syncing fine. Please advise.
Thanks!
Greetings, @RachelCL.

I hope this helps. I'll be waiting for your response!
Thank you for this info. You are correct, I have not received any error messages. And when I do the "verify data" it comes back clean. So should I still "rebuild" my data? Or is there something else that will fix my cc not syncing?
Thanks!
Rachel
