Hi there, @Lcan.
There are a few different reasons a recurring transaction won't recycle. However, the most common reason is due to the template not working properly. I'm including a couple of things you can do to try and repair the issue below.
First, let's check that recurring transaction is set to scheduled. Recurring templates will only create transactions automatically when the type is set to “Scheduled” and the template has not reached its end date or maximum occurrences. Here's how:
If everything seems to be set correctly, let's see if the tax code has changed. If some item or tax code used on the recurring template is changed indirectly, the template should update automatically to use the new info.
However, there are some instances when an error occurs and the sales tax used needs to be re-saved on the template.
If continuing to have issues with recurring transactions, it may be that the template is damaged and needs to be recreated.
If this is the case, please follow the guided steps in Fix failed recurring transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any questions or concerns that I can assist with. Take care!
I don't want the transactions to be scheduled. Also, it doesn't just happen to one recurring transaction, it happens quite often.
Quickbooks said they would fix it but they have not.
I don't want the transactions to be scheduled. Also, this happens to multiple different recurring transactions. Quickbooks said they would fix it over a month ago and still have not.
This is not the kind of service we want you to experience, @Lcan. Let me chime in so you can use the recurring transactions seamlessly in QuickBooks Online.
I agree with what my colleague mentioned above. The recurring transaction templates may be the reason why the program cannot recycle transactions properly. With this, I recommend deleting these transactions and recreating them. Before doing so, ensure you review the contents of the transactions carefully before deleting them to avoid any mistakes.
Next, you can start recreating the transactions. Since you don't want the Scheduled recurring transactions, you can choose the Unscheduled or Reminder in the option.
Here's how:

Did you get this resolved? I am having the same issue. Always after the second selection on the recurring transaction page. Once the second transaction is completed the screen will go back to the recurring transaction page very briefly ( about 1 second) and default back to my dashboard. Very frustrating as a do a lot of data entry from that page.
I did not get it resolved. I am deleting my recurring transactions and reentering
them as I get time. I’m not sure if that will solve the problem.

Yes, it's annoying. It automatically closes out the reoccurring transaction list and you have to open it to be able to continue. I also don't like that I can't select multiple payments at once and have to do them individually. My desktop version I just click a box just like in the pay vendors screen.
I am having the same problem. It added about three hours to my data entry last night. You can click on 2 recurring items and then it send you back to the prior screen. You then have to click on the gear icon and scroll back to where you were at in the list just to be kicked back out after two more entries. What a joke. Please fix this. I
Same issue, but I noticed that if you have the tasks widget on your home dashboard, the recurring entries that are due based on the days settings show up there once a day. You can select/process them individually or create the entire batch all at once. It then updates the reminders list accordingly. If I use the reminders list to drive the process, then I have the same issue as outlined in the above thread.
Hope that helps some of you.
Mine are unscheduled so I still have the problem. They were supposed to be working on it 6 months ago but nothing has changed.
Lcan any resolution yet? I am having all the same issues basically....absolutely ridiculous...please let me know when you figure out a solution...even if it is with another provider...adding hours of extra work and stress is not a long term solution for me...I am shocked this is not being taken seriously..I don't understand...Regards..
We are having the same issue. Also a new issue for our scheduled transactions, when I go in to edit the transaction, it doesn't advance to the top of the screen when saved and it also doesn't update to the new amount. This is causing so much extra work. Any help would be appreciated!
It is almost unbelievable how bad this has become...and we continue to wait for a response that agrees this is a problem and when to expect a fix and resolution...please let me know as well if you figure out something that fixes the issue or another direction that you prefer...
Hello, Dwpllp. I'm here to lay down a few suggestions to help you fix the recurring transactions issue.
The issue happens when QuickBooks Online has system updates that need to take effect. With this, I recommend logging out and logging back into QuickBooks Online (QBO). Doing so refreshes your account.
If this issue persists, I suggest accessing QBO via a private window. It'll help us determine whether this is a browser cache-related issue. The search engine you regularly use when working on your books utilizes cached data to load web pages faster. However, excessive cache can lead to problems that cause QuickBooks performance to degrade and affect the account's functionality.
When using incognito mode, it'll assist us in determining its exact cause since this doesn't save your browsing history and doesn't accumulate cache. Here are the keyboard shortcuts:
Once logged in, modify the recurring transaction and save it. If it works, clear the browser's cache. Doing so improves system performance, fixes program problems, and frees storage space. Using other supported browsers also helps us verify if this is a browser-specific problem.
Additionally, QuickBooks allows you to set up automatic payments for recurring invoices. It ensures your customers pay you on time and without any hassle.
Would you like some assistance in managing other information? Or do you need to work on invoices, vendors, reports, and other entries? Let me know, and I'll help you some more.
I tried Edge as well as chrome with all data cleared and also incognito in chrome with same results. I use 2 recurring transactions and QB returns t the last screen I was on before entering the recuring transaction screen.
Its time for QB to resolve the issue!!!

In my clients QBO, the recurring transactions are all set as reminders, since the amount varies. In the past I was able to see what was coming up on the Dashboard. Now, they are not showing on the dashboard and the dates are not changing once I "Use" the recurring transaction under the gear icon. Losing faith in QB and am seeking other alternatives!
