Don't want to track credit card balance

I have a personal credit that I use from time-to-time to collect points and what not. I've logged a couple payments towards my credit card and now it's keeping a balance of it.

Anyway to stop tracking the balance but still log a payment towards the card?

Don't want to track credit card balance

Let me provide some insights about tracking balance in QuickBooks, @userpetitlawncare.

If you don't want to track your bank balance, you can disconnect your online banking in QuickBooks. Let me show you how:

  1. Select the Banking menu on the left pane, and then choose Banking at the top.
  2. Choose the account you want to change, and then click Edit (pencil icon).
  3. Select the Edit account info button.
  4. In the Account window, check the box next to Disconnect this account on save.
  5. Once done, click Save and Close.

For more information, feel free to check out this article: Disconnect or delete accounts.

Then, you can import your bank transactions manually. This way, it will not track your bank account balance.

After you download the transactions, you need to approve and categorized them. If you have concerns downloading or see errors, here's how to fix them.

I appreciate the option but that won't help when I need to tell the system about payments towards the credit card you want me to disconnect.

Don't want to track credit card balance

Hi there, userpetitlawncare.

I appreciate your coming back to provide additional clarification with your concern to stop tracking the balance but still log a payment towards the card.

Currently, there's no option to remove or stop tracking the balance for the credit card that used to collect points. This is because the card has transactions associated with it. Unlike, the bank account has the option to remove this balance.

You can check this article to see steps on how you can add and match downloaded transactions to avoid duplicate entries so your account stays accurate: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Please refer to this article to see steps on how you can pay down a credit card in QuickBooks Online: Record your payments to credit cards.
