I spoke with WellsFargo and they told me that they had just updated their data feed and that it did not support Quickbooks Desktop for anything older than 3 years. I ordered the new Quickbooks 2021 for a one time charge (not the yearly subscription) and it fixed the problem once the new version was downloaded. I couldn't find the one time order for QB 2021 online so I had to chat with them and then someone called me. Problem fixed! I will have to upgrade again next time the bank upgrades their feed/security but that could be 3 years or 7 years from now.
I have the identical issue also.
Hello folks,
I'm a former Intuit tech support rep (my id on here was MattS), way back in the day...
I dont mean to be harsh, but most of the Intuit rep answers here are way off (that is my polite way of saying it...)
Verify and correct the FEIN? Same with the Customer ID? Really?!? No, that is Not what the issue is.
So, I'm working on a similar issue. Getting the FEIN error. And the Customer ID error. My issue: Shows the Lightning bolt in Chart of Account. Account Does Not display up in Bank Feeds. When editing account, there is no Customer ID and disabling account access doesnt work. When I try, it gives either FEIN or the Customer ID error. THAT is data damage, plain and simple. Rebuilding the data did not fix my issue.
And most likely folks, it is not Program issue with QB. It is data damage. It happens. Now, Catherine B rep
is on the right track... I'm going to try merging the old account with a new account. That has the possibility of stripping the damaged online account info....
MattS (former Online Intuit support from the late 90's, early 2000's!)
That fixed the issue. I am now able to download WebConnect files into that checking account.
Hi - I'm having some FEIN issue. Tried Verify Data -> Rebuild Data -> Verify Data. Couldn't fix it. Still same error.
I'm try to reconnect a bank account in QB - old account that was taken offline.
Are there any other tips?
I'm here to make sure you're able to reconnect your bank account in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @ReetuGupta.
You'll first have to keep your QBDT software updated so you always have the latest features and fixes. Then, set up your bank feeds again. Follow the step-by-step guide in this article to complete the process: Set up bank accounts for Bank Feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.
In case the FEIN issue persists, I'd recommend creating a new account and then merging them after.
Once you're done performing the tips above but the error continues, I would encourage you to contact our Technical Support team. They can create a case to further investigate the cause of this banking error and guide you with a fix. To do this, here's how:
Also, you'll want to add and categorize your transactions to make sure your account is updated. Then, you can perform the reconciliation process every month to ensure the accuracy of your books.
Please keep me posted in the comments if you have other banking concerns and questions about managing transactions in QBDT. I'm always ready to help. Take care, and I wish you continued success, @ReetuGupta.
I believe I have found a fix after a full day of support that was of no assistance, go to the account that is no longer syncing, in the bank feeds settings delete the account customer ID fully and then you should be able to deactivate all online services after that. :D then you can merge the new account. be sure to backup first!
I too have spent hours. I've gone round and round with this. Every which way we go about it, I hit a blockade. Bottom line, I need to deactivate and reactivate bank services for an account because there's something wrong with the current connection. I am unable to deactivate without an error of some kind. I too have spent hours on the phone with QuickBooks. Peruzing into it forum. It's pretty clear that this is a an issue for many more people than I would have thought. My tech hadn't run into it before though. I Even sent them my file so they could go through it with a fine tooth comb and make any repairs etc. They sent it back to me and I still have the issues. We try to additional troubleshooting as well. This makes QuickBooks pretty much useless to me in the number of hours I've spent on this already is insane. Basically it thinks it's connected but it's really not. The bank says there's nothing wrong on their end.
WORKING SOLUTION!
Here is a solution that worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you.
I created a new account in QuickBooks (same type) and set up this new account with Bank Feeds. The new account now had "NotApplicable" in the grayed out Account Customer ID field. (It might have something else written for you, like your login ID, depending on your bank and type of connection).
Then, I went to the problematic account, Edit Account, looked at the Bank Feed Settings, and it miraculously already had the same thing filled in there as for the new account I just created! I went back to the General tab and changed the Account Name of the problematic account to match the new account. It asked me if I wanted to Merge and successfully allowed me to do so (it didn't allow this before).
Hooray for me, because it worked!! Hopefully, the above solution will work for you too.
If it doesn't, (I haven't looked because I didn't need to) but perhaps you can try QuickBooks' article "Solution 3: Deactivate bank feeds using Excel" or maybe try exporting all of your transactions from this account to CSV, then delete this account, then create a new one and import the transactions back (but this should be the last resort because it might mess up your reconciliations for this account and might mess up your reconciliations for other accounts as well).
Solved! Or got lucky! I kept getting the same errors as everyone else. I was finally able to deactivate all online services! I changed the Account Customer ID to be blank. When I hit the save and close button, I received the same pop errors I always got. However, with the Account Customer ID now blank, I was able to then select the Deactivate All Online Services button. Before when I tried to hit this button, I would get the same two errors. The key is to make the Account Customer ID blank and hit save. After the error pop ups, you should be able to hit the deactivate button. I was able to do this for two different Accounts.

I'm using QB DT Pro Plus and this became an issue when QB upgraded my data file from QB DT Pro 2020. Verify data showed no errors. Just delete all the text in customer id, click the checkbox to disable, then save. It's unfortunate they can't seem to fix know errors.
