Thank you!
This comment saved me a ton of time. I agree with everyone else that shouldn't be an issue, but I'm very grateful that this workaround did the trick in my situation.
This badly designed website does not say what comment you are referring to
@Malcolm Ziman I was replying to the comment left by @Seth4801 . juVielL's comment with the step by step is helpful too.
This is referring to the online version correct? I can't seem to find "Banking. then go to the Reviewed section, and undo transactions" :( .. .ugh. . I have 800 transactions to delete..
Has anybody successfully have a workaround for this on the "desktop" version? Ugh.. I have 800 transactions to delete.. I believe the workarounds already listed are only available on the online version.
Hello there, @Delmer.
I'm happy to let you know that you can delete a batch of transactions in QuickBooks Desktop. And I'd be glad to help you with this.
First off, we'll need to have a backup file before you delete the transactions. To create a backup file, you can read through this article for the detailed steps and information: Create Backup of the QuickBooks Desktop Company File.
After creating the backup file, you can go to the Banking page and delete the transactions from there. Here's how:
If you're unable to delete all transactions, switch to Register mode to delete the statement.
To switch to Register mode, here's how:
You can also read this article for your reference: Remove Duplicate Transactions.
Please let me know how it goes or if you have follow-up question or concerns just leave a comment below.
Hi Mark_R,
Can you send a screen shot of where "Items Received From Financial Institution" are in the bank feed? I can't seem to find this option on 2019 Desktop Pro.
(note: just to be clear: the items were already imported incorrectly from the bank feed to my register.. I don't need to delete items in the bank feed)
I also called in to the QB help desk and they said that the only way to do this was to either restore a backup (which would overwrite all my accounts to the previous backup, or delete each one manually). I would much prefer to use the method you suggested but I can't seem to find the options on screen to follow your directions.
Hey there, Djelmer.
Let me take over and help you with deleting multiple transactions in your register via QuickBooks Desktop.
The steps provided by my colleague Mark_R above are for transactions still in the Bank Feeds Center. Since the transactions are added in your register already, manually deleting them is the only available option.
You may find this article helpful: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Help-Articles/Remove-duplicate-transactions/m-p/203298.
Should you need more help in deleting these transactions, please let me know. Have a good one.
Sadly, that solution only works for transactions added via bank feed and doesn't help when you've done a manual import.
Thanks for joining us here in the Community, @Chief Butterfly.
I'm here to help share some insights about deleting manually imported bank transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you are using the Pro and Premier versions of QuickBooks, once a transaction is manually added on your register, deleting a transaction can be done individually. On the other hand, QuickBooks now offers the option to delete batch transactions which are manually imported to all QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise users.

This post alone is almost a year old and I'm sure there are posts from before this one... why hasn't this feature been added yet? Does QB support listen to its users? Delete... Confirm... wait for load delete... confirm... wait for load... for each transaction? this is like buying notebook and you can't tear out the pages. A fix for this should have been implemented long ago. This is the only accounting software that integrates with my business software... but it's proving to be a process just to use it for simple tasks that should be included from the get go... oh and the people on the chat know little to nothing about the software. I asked them questions and they just told me to call the number instead of providing me with the information I was seeking... that's bad business. So is not listening to your customers.
Thanks for sharing your idea here in the Quickbooks Community, @Dieselchick.
I understand how deleting multiple transactions in the register would be helpful for you. The product enhancement will be based on how popular a specific feature request is.
I'll make sure to take note of this and will update you once this option is available for our users. In the meantime, I'd suggest visiting our QuickBooks Online Blog regularly. This way you'll be updated with the latest news and updates including product improvements.

@Asch18 wrote:I am having the same issue, having to individually delete each transaction is ridiculous. It would be great if you could add some actual QB users to your development team. This is a very basic function. I have already left feedback for this feature and other very intuitive features that are lacking in QBO (undo reconciliation). I need to delete several years worth of transactions that were downloaded when I switched from Desktop version, there are literally 10,000+ transactions that will take days to delete manually one at a time.
I had about 7000 transactions to delete and came up with this solution. This is for linux but I'm sure there are similar options on Windows and Mac.
I installed xdotool that lets you script mouse moves and button clicks. I then worked out the screen coordinates for the 3 clicks needed to delete a record and set a 1 second delay between clicks. I could then run the script, leave the machine and 5 hours later I was done.
This is the script that worked for me when QBO fullscreen in chrome:
#!/bin/bash
for i in {1..7000}
do
xdotool mousemove 599 599 click 1
sleep 1
xdotool mousemove 2200 650 click 1
sleep 1
xdotool mousemove 1500 820 click 1
sleep 1
done
Hi there, @caffeine.
I appreciate you for sharing the workaround you're using on how to delete multiple transactions that are already in the bank register. It will surely help other users who encounter the same issue.
Please know that you're always welcome to post if you have any other concerns related to QuickBooks. The Community team will always here to help. Have a good day ahead!
I don't know where this magical gear icon is. It's sad when I have to delete my company and start over because that is easier. If QB knows it's users (the people that pay) want the function of deleting multiple lines in the registrar then make it happen.
I know it's not your fault specifically, but I'm sure there people with influence that read the comments.
Good day, socrdude74.
The Gear icon is located on the upper right corner of your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.
We recognize that each company has unique needs, and I can see how this feature would benefit and empower your business. Don't worry, I'll personally submit your feedback directly to them.

Thank you so much! You save me hourssss!
This is exactly why I don't pay for QBO. You want me to spend over $500 per year when the desktop version is $200-$250 for pro and will last me 5-10 years. And on top of that, the QBO functionality is a fraction of the desktop version. This is a perfect case in point.
Is there any update for this topic? If QBO has already a feature that allows to delete transactions in the register by batch?
For the time being, utilize the trial period of this 3rd party deleter tool

I appreciate you checking this with us, jahve.
At this time, the option to delete multiple transactions together from the register is still unavailable. I'm giving the assurance that your suggestion is being worked on. Though I can't give you the exact time of implementation, I will make sure to get back to this thread for updates.

I feel your pain. Exactly what I'm going through right now. First of all, why can't we produce a P&L with only one account chosen? Like you, I have both personal and business accounts, so it just mixes everything up. So I had to open up another QBO account for just personal use. It TOOK 8 hrs of cust service to copy data from one account to the other. Now i have to go in and manually delete the entries of the accounts i don't want to overlap? Geez QB, why can't i just delete an account?? seems to simple, what a failure in software. how simple would it be to allow us to delete an account or delete multiple transactions at once. It took 3 calls and 5 hours w diff reps for me to figure out i couldn't produce a p&l with only my business account. they kept trying to walk me through it, until i googled it and realized it wasn't possible. wish i could delete certain accounts, what the heck does making it inactive help me out? that just means i don't see it on my screen. anyway, i feel ur pain bc I'm in it right now so just wanted to respond to u.
Over two years later and this basic functionality still isn't in the system
How do I delete reconciled multiple transactions for the Desktop version? I don't want to delete the transaction, just the reconciliation check. It wasn't reconciled correctly and is a big mess. I only see where you can undo the last reconciliation. Please help! TIA.
