How do i add/change unit of measurement on QB online?

I can't believe that we are now in 2023 and quickbooks have not even bothered to sort out such weaknesses in a system like that. Its so annoying that I prefer to laugh about it. lol

How do i add/change unit of measurement on QB online?

It's been close to a year since I posted this issue on QBO and even suggested a pathway to allowing users to add their own units of measure. Instead of a progress report, we get a cut and paste answer from nine months ago. Intuit's use of chatgpt customer support must be putting in the hours addressing these seemingly, annoying requests from their users.

I guess we should all be thankful that this rudimentary online bookkeeping program still costs an excessive $85.00 per month... wait... what?  Oh... they raised prices to $90/month as of 8/1... Oooookay then. Maybe the extra money will allow me to have the functionality of referring to our customers as "guests" instead of "units" on their invoices.

Honestly... not holding my breath. I'm going to start examining other alternatives to this very clunky, outdated, featureless system.

How do i add/change unit of measurement on QB online?

hi ,

We are looking for " Delivery Note " + "Measurement Unit" feature in QBO.

We purchase QBO subscription , without above features we cannot proceed to making transactions.

Please advise.

Hello there, @Shabbir. I recognize that the Delivery Note and Unit of Measurement features are very important when shipping goods to your customer.

You're right that these functionalities are currently unavailable in QuickBooks Online. Don't worry, there are workarounds that I can offer for you to achieve your goal. First, you can create and print a packing slip as an alternative to a delivery note. Here's how:

1. Go to Customers & leads and hit Customers.

2. Pick the customer's name to display a list of their transactions.

3. From the Transaction List tab, tick the box next to each invoice or sales receipt for which you want to print a Packing Slip.

4. Click on the Batch actions dropdown, then choose Print packing slip.

5. The print preview screen will open so you can select printing options, preview, and print.

Second, utilize the Description section and add the Unit of Measurement from there. Kindly review the screenshot below for reference:

Furthermore, I'd suggest providing feedback on this. Your ideas are highly useful to our Product Development team, as they enhance your experience in QBO. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Gear icon at the top-right, then hit Feedback.
  2. Fill in with your comments or product suggestions.
  3. Then choose Next to send feedback.

Feel free to explore our QuickBooks Online Feature Requests webpage for any feature request updates.

We recognize the importance of your company having the Delivery Note and Unit of Measurement features when shipping goods to your customer, Shabbir.

At this moment, we're unable to provide a specific time frame for when this option becomes available. We can follow the workaround provided by Mich_SFurthermore, you can visit his page to stay up to date on the latest software improvements and enhancements with QBO: Customer Feedback for QuickBooks Online.

You'll want to check for a third-party application that can help you with this one. To ensure you'll be able to get the app that is compatible with QuickBooks Online (QBO), I recommend visiting our QuickBooks Apps store. Here's how:

  1. Head to the QuickBooks Apps store at this link.
  2. From there, enter the keyword or name of the app you're looking for in the Search bar.
  3. Once done, press the Enter key on your keyboard.
  4. You'll be given a list of the app related to the keyword you input.
  5. To verify the app you can use, you can check the reviews for that program.

We can also do it in QBO by following the steps below:

  1. Go to Apps on the left side menu.
  2. Search for the app in the Find apps to streamline your work field.
  3. Look for an app that supports the Batch feature.

Any questions about integrating the app into your Online account should be directed to the app's third-party provider. Also, to assist you in managing your account and growing your business with QBO, I recommend visiting one of our support websites: QuickBooks Help Articles. It includes topics about account management, banking, and expenses, to name a few.

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section below. I'll be always around ready to help.

@kevinkeever

After what they did with TradeGecko, don't expect too much. You should consider having an inventory management app with UoM feature to sync with QBO.
