How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

This is my exact experience as well.  I now have the desktop trial and hope I can get my QBO data into it just to file my taxes.  Unbelievable.  I'll be looking for alternatives.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

I have 3 seperate companies and have been using Quickbooks Online for many years now. I was advised to switch from Quickbooks Desktop version to Quickbooks Online by Intuit, because of the inability for it to update when using multiple machines. I knew it would be more expensive in the long run, but made the switch. I was using Turbo Tax at the time and did not realize that QBO was not compatible. A year ago I stumbled upon this thread and have been following along silently, waiting for a solution.

'theaccountableartist' said it perfectly, direct and very professional in their post. This individual even addressed a Quickbooks Team Member that previously concluded, "if you need anything else. I'm here to continue helping...". Why no response to his post, Quickbooks Team Members?

I am Pro-Advisor (only because I have 3 seperate Quickbook Online Accounts) and spoke with another Intuit Pro-Advisor staff member and he came to the same conclusion that 'theaccountableartist' suggested. You need to generate Profit & Loss statements and manually enter that data into Turbo Tax. It will get the job done, but is not a solution to the problem and is time-consuming. Not to mention, no Quickbooks Team Member has managed to suggest generating P&L statements. The Trial Desktop/Export 'solution' does NOT work anymore, because of the lack of support for IE. This is a serious problem for us QBO users that has not been fully addressed by Intuit.

Why has Intuit not implemented an actual solution yet or at least indicated that it's something currently being worked on?

How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

Hi there, visionbranded,

I appreciate you sharing what you have experienced with our QuickBooks Online product. And, how you want the importing process to be available.

The current option is to transfer your data to QuickBooks Desktop, then import them to TurboTax.

While we haven't received reports about this feature being implemented, I suggest checking out the Product Updates link. It will tell you what's new and coming in QuickBooks to keep you updated.

Thank you for joining this thread. Don't hesitate to post again if there's anything else I can help you. I'm always around to help you out.

This does not work for the majority of users using non-outdated Microsoft software. What a joke of a company/solution...

These "how to" links don't work. Does anyone know of an online alternative to quickbooks? If we have to manually move everything when it comes times for taxes it seems like an almost useless service.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

Hi

If I have not completed reconciling my Quick Books online, should I wait or will it update automatically in turbo tax as I make changes to the online version?

Let me provide some information about importing the file to Turbo Tax, hillsidefire.

Whatever file you have in QuickBooks Online (QBO), those are the only data that will be imported to Turbo Tax. Cases like this, it would be best to complete the reconciliation first in QBO. Just follow the detailed steps in this article to reconcile your account: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online

Once done, export and convert your Online data to QuickBooks Desktop. Then, import them to TurboTax.

If there's an update about importing QBO data to TurboTax Desktop directly, it will be posted on our QuickBooks Blog. You can visit this link to route you over: The QuickBooks Blog.

I've got a link here where you can find articles about managing your bank accounts and transactions: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/banking/07?product=QuickBooks%20Online.

I'm just one click away if you need a hand with migrating your data file to another QuickBooks product or any QBO related. Keep safe always.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

It seems quite clear to even a first time QBCommunity member that there is a chorus of frustration that Intuit QBO data cannot be downloaded directly into Intuit TurboTax directly. When can we expect this functionality to be available?

It is truly reprehensible that it has been over a year since the OP asked his question and a straightforward solution has yet to be implemented within Quickbooks. Not only that, but now the ONLY workaround of transferring the data to a trial of QBDT no longer works!! Internet Explorer is a joke and Quickbooks is quickly heading down the same exact path!

QB support is a joke.  I keep seeing the same responses by them.  It leads me to believe they are clueless and just following their user manuals when addressing the issue.  Clearly they have not tried going thru with the process themselves.  QB should be ashamed of themselves for charging so much money and not investing a single dollar into developing a solution.

Hello, this functionality is no longer available, the article to convert QBO to QBD is no longer at the above link. Can these instructions be updated for 2020?

Hello there, @Total Access Solutions.

The last thing I want is to see you leave because of the importing limitations. I'd like an opportunity to help walk you through bringing your QuickBooks Online data easily to TurboTax Desktop for tax filling.

Currently, the ability to directly import your data to Turbotax Desktop is not yet available. As mentioned by @Anonymous, you'll have to convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop using a trial subscription. For a step-by-step importing process, you may check out this article: How do I import QuickBooks data into TurboTax Business?

Hi there, Rooben.

The link to transfer your files from Online to Desktop is still working. You can click on this article: Export and convert your QuickBooks Online data to QuickBooks Desktop and follow the detailed steps about converting your files. Then, import QuickBooks data into TurboTax.

I have included these links about the limitations when you migrate your Online data to Desktop:

Feel free to post again here if you have any other concerns.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

I have both QuickBooks online & Desktop, but when I try the TorboTax QuickBooks import function, I get the error message "Import script error: Failed to Start QB request processor. Please have QuickBooks running with the company file open"

I have the desktop QuickBooks  running so why is there a problem?

Let's fix the error, Lacasabiancawinery.

You can only import data from QuickBooks Desktop. Then, your QuickBooks Online has to be exported to QuickBooks Desktop first before TurboTax can import it.

With regard to the error, please update your QuickBooks and restart your computer after. Then, expert import your data again.

No kidding!

There is no "error".  Just the lack of support and features one would expect from a company the size of Intuit.  The inability to import our data into Turbo Tax is BS.  The lack of this feature is unacceptable. We were promised increase functionality, features, and ease of doing the migration when enticing us to switch to QBO from Desktop.  Lies!  Not nearly as functional.

Intuit keeps telling us to start a trial of QB Desktop, import our QBO to it and then import to Turbo Tax.   NO, I am not starting a trial and NO I am not even attempting to import back into QB Desktop.  We should not have to do this.  It should work properly.  They are all Intuit products.  Make it work.  There are lots of things that are not as controllable with QBO as they were with Desktop.  We will be cancelling our account hopefully sooner than later.  Intuit doesn't care and has done nothing to fix the issues except tell you this ridiculous work-around.  My advise is don't use their products.

QBO offered sales tax filing and payment, but only very few were using it so they removed the feature. Now, people have to use Turbotax again. It could have been so easy.

How do I import my quickbooks online data into turbotax business desktop?

Lie everyone else has found, there is no TurboTax integration. I too was enticed into QBonline, wasted an entire day setting it all up, downloading from Quicken, and my bank, catigorizing, and prepping for taxes that are due soon!

then did the same thing when I discovered the issues and tried to move everything to QB Self Employed, which won’t work either.

I gave up on QB and went back to Quicken Home and Business Desktop.

call customer service!!  I demanded a refund on the crap products, and got it.
