do you people on the QB team not know what your company has done??
Please let us know what you find as an alternative, and if you can download/import?
thanks so much
fellow disgusted QB user
yes apparently when we bought our software, the discontinuation was embedded with a date of May 31, 2022.
They are trying to get more money out of us. Don't do what the yahoo who replied to your post says, just an INTUIT employee doing their job to force you to pay subscription fees. You can still manually enter your transactions from an excel file. You can print them using google sheets, or just split your screen. No worries, there will be a lower costs solution from a 3rd party app. You are not alone!
Fyi, these softwares import the transactions into the GL, not into the bank feeds for reconciliation. I upload the bank .qbo file in order to see which transactions I have missing from the GL and to automatically mark as cleared the matching transactions.
Those softwares import transactions into the GL, not into the bank feeds. I import .qbo files so that the transactions go into bank feeds to see which transactions are missing and to clear matched items automatically. I don't want to import the whole statement to the GL because it will duplicate already posted transactions.
Has anyone found a desktop software comparable to Quickbooks that we can purchase from another company that we can purchase now that Intuit only has a subscription model. I refuse to signup for this scam!
You can still purchase the one time license for QB Desktop 2021 Pro/Premier/Accountant or QB Desktop 2022 Accountant from several partners.
Have not found a Quickbooks 2021 yet and am not sure if I want to give my business to this company at all at this point.
Click our username and you will find our website address to send a direct message. We can help to provide the license from Intuit later.
i found one on ebay, and i can conffirm that you can still download a qbo file from your financial institution and upload into QB desktop via bank feeds. Typically Intuit has allowed this for three years. The one I purchased was 300, so it will pay for itself. (hopefully)
I suspect that one of the recent updates (in 2022) to QBD 2019 set the QBO important disabling for May 31, 2022. Is it possible to reinstall an unupdated version of QBD2019 from my original download, turn off updates, and be able to import QBO files again? We'd never be able to run the updates, but I don't think I need any of them.
I do pro-bono accounting for small local non-profits (think little league teams and neighborhood block watch groups) and can't really afford to have their prior investment purchasing QBD2019 disappear.

Ask your institution to contact TechSoup. If they are eligible, they can purchase QB Desktop 2021 at special price.
I attempted to download my bank transactions in QuickBooks format but it gives me an error message stating QuickBooks was not able to complete my request. Please contact my financial institution "(OL-222)" is the error code. On top of everything else. Please advise.
Also, I am curious why the self-employed version doesn't have an option to track projects (classes). Don't they realize that that's what a lot of freelancers do? I'm an artist with various commissions I need to track. But with this meager income, I certainly don't need a full-blown QuickBooks package.
I get it - they need to make even more money. But I'm super bummed at the options for small businesses.
This isn't the experience we want you to have, Bcouv.
The error OL-222 you're getting is a coding error in your .qbo file (like spelling, punctuation, or label error). It is also possible that the downloaded .qbo file isn't compliant with the Open Financial Exchange (OFX0 guidelines. Let's go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this.
Before we start, please ensure you do the following:
Then, let's check and correct some invalid characters in your .qbo file which cause this error.
Here's how:
Also, you can read this article: Fix Web Connect import errors. It contains additional troubleshooting steps for resolving import problems in QuickBooks Desktop:
On the other hand, only QuickBooks Online Plus, Advanced, and Accountant have the Projects feature. I recommend switching to QuickBooks Online if you want to take advantage of this feature. QuickBooks Self-employed may not be suitable for your needs because it only allows you to track your income, expenses, mileage, and tax information.
Once you've successfully imported your bank transactions into QuickBooks, you can review your entries in QuickBooks Desktop by adding and matching them to avoid duplicate transactions.
I'm all ears if you need further assistance importing Web connect files. Always here to help.
Hello there, Bcouv.
Appreciate you for following the suggestion above. Also, I see how important to get this fixed as soon as possible.
The & must be removed from the text because it is an invalid character. Since there's no & in the file, I'd recommend creating a backup of your QuickBooks company file first. Then, update QuickBooks Desktop to the most recent version. Also, make sure that you have the most recent version of QuickBooks installed.
Once done, you can go back to the steps shared by my colleague. If the same thing happens, I recommend giving us a call. In this case, customer support would be really helpful because they have the capacity to check into your personal account in-depth, see what's going on, and even screen share with you if necessary. Within your QuickBooks Company file, select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu.
You can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help panel. To route you to the correct support expert, we need to know what type of question you have. Give a brief description of your issue and click Continue.

I was told that I could use this upload functionon the 2019 QuickBooks (the transactions in quickbook format from the bank in a download vs individually through QB which they discontinued). Is that incorrect?
Hi Bcouv
I couldn't have said it better myself! I am also an artist. You can continue to use QB, but you will have to download an excel file of your transactions, upload it into google sheets and print out and enter manually. If you can find a version of QB desktop pro, (I found one for 300.00 for a biz i do the books for) you will/may have another three years of being able to download and upload with bank feeds. They won't tell you this of course, and this is just profiterring by Intuit in my opinion.
You can also look at posts by @Fiat lux, there are many other bookkeeping programs, and depending on what you use QB for, one of them might work. For me, I transfer my sales from my point of sales into QB so I can continue to use it that way. It's just the bank feeds that they built in to disable on May 31 2022
@Bcouv wrote:HI - I did troubleshot a few things. There is no "&" or "&" in the file. I checked.I don't think QuickBooks is for me any longer. The amount I would have to spend per month for the Cadillac version of QuickBooks is more than I can afford as an artist.Just a small business trying to do everything myself & having to spend precious days fooling with this malarky instead of marketing and production is ridiculous, as you can understand.I think a desktop version is best but then y'all cut it off too soon.At least put in the request to have projects on the self-employed so others who keep QuickBooks may use it.
give it up sarahann, he or she is fed up with all Intuit products. Transferring to QBO isn't just Intuit profiteering, it's an undue burden on customers who both the software in good faith, that is just now a headache. Tell your supervisors, we are mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore!!!
yes it is.
The bank feed feature is disabled on QBD 2019. You can utilize an importer tool as I mentioned earlier or purchase a one time license for QBD 2021 to upgrade your version.
Hi,
According to your post I should still be able to import my bank feeds. I have been doing so with no issue up to 5/31/22. However, today I followed the exact steps you outlined above, but when I selected the qbo file it just pops an error that says "Quickbooks is unable to verify the financial information for this institution". It's not giving me an option to select my account. Please help.
Hello, 1982kitty.
I recognize the significance of importing your bank feeds into QuickBooks Desktop.
If you have QuickBooks Desktop 2019 version, all access to add-on services will be discontinue. It includes Payroll Services, Live Support Online, Online Backup, Online Banking, and other services.
If you want to use the online banking feature, I recommend that you upgrade your QuickBooks Desktop to a newer version. It ensures you can import your .qbo file and avoids the error message.
Here's how:
Alternatively, you also look for a 3rd party application capable of importing your bank feeds. You can visit this link to find one: QuickBooks apps.
Once your bank transactions are inside QuickBooks, you can categorize them and reconcile your accounts. This way, we can ensure you have accurate records. Check out these resources to get started:
I'll be available if you have additional concerns or questions about managing your transactions. It's always a pleasure to assist you.
Unfortunately these steps fail. Please advise on how to import bank transactions are edit your response above to be accurate
Which step do you mean? Are you using an outdated QBD version (e.g 2019)?
