Can you tell me if you found a comparable accounting software that won’t rip us off every 2 years then force us to a subscription?

If your bank provides *.csv files, you will need to use a 3rd party tool to import it into your QBD 2021. It's a $199 one time license and you can get $100 cashback to purchase the license via a partner.

Another option, you can use the trial version of QBD 2022 Enterprise to run the bank feed again.

How can I Find that trial version of desktop 2022? I can use the trial to do bank feeds?

The bank feed feature works in the QBD 2022 trial version. Contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA to get the the trial version.

Even if I can use it “for good” I am now told by 2 different quickbooks support people that the trial will not allow bank feeds. Who is this Fiat Lux? A person? A company? Are they doing something illegal with quickbooks?

When using the trial version of QuickBooks Desktop, you can download your transactions using the Web Connect feature. Allow me to guide you on how to do it.

Here's how if you're using the QBDT:

1. Go to Banking.
2. Select Bank Feeds, then select Banking Center.
3. Find your bank and click Download Transactions. This opens a browser window to your bank's website.
4. Sign in to your bank's website to download the Web Connect file.

I self-educated on IIFs back in 2017 to migrate from excel to QB. They're incredibly flexible and dumb---making them dangerous. Some of the things that can go wrong: any typos will create spurious accounts, vendors, etc.

This guy's freeware has a feature to load a CSV file of existing transactions against which the new ones are screened for duplicates. It works but there are extra steps.

You and me both. He wrote in Python and I'm very tempted in collaborating with him to make this software better and free for others in the same boat as us.

His software does work with account numbers. In other words, in the pattern editor (rules), you can enter 1234 if that's the account number for Meals and Entertainment.

By “this guy” you mean Fiat Lux?

I looked into Transaction Pro but it dumps bank transactions directly into the check register instead of into the bank feeds transaction file. This means all waiting must be done perfectly before import and with no help from quickbooks. If it went into the bank feeds file, we would have the opportunity to edit and check each transaction before sending to the register. Why don’t they do that???

No, I’m referring to Adam. He wrote a freeware to emulate the Bank Feed workflow. See link to it in my previous posts. Basically, it reads QBO files, applies rules (you create your rules) and makes an IIF file for import
