I cant get more than 90 days of transactions to load from my bank account

Most banks only provide the last 90 days worth of transactions when connecting it in QuickBooks Online, demon-moose.

As a workaround, you can download the older transactions from the bank's website in a CSV, QBO, or Quicken file format. Then, import them QBO so you can bring them in and assign categories. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card’s website.
  2. Follow your bank’s instructions for how to download transactions to your computer. Some banks call this WebConnect. Every financial institution has different steps. Here are steps for Bank of AmericaChase, and Wells Fargo.
  3. Make sure the date range for the download is at least one day before your oldest transaction.
  4. Download your transactions. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your desktop.

Once done, follow these steps on how to import them in:

  1. Go to the Banking or Transactions menu. Then, proceed to the Banking tab.
  2. Click the drop-down list beside Update ▼ and select File upload.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions on how to map and successfully import the file.

Now that your transactions are in QuickBooks, it’s time to match and categorize the transactions.

How do I do this in Quickbooks Desktop version? I have the QBO file from my bank for all transactions, but I do not have the option in QB for Banking  Update ▼ and File upload.

I got you covered today, sbelletti.

I'm here to show you how to download more than 90 days old transactions in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

You can use the Web Connect option if your bank has this feature. This will allow you to set a date range for downloading bank transactions that are more than 90 days old. There are two ways to do that. First, in QuickBooks and the second is outside QuickBooks.

Inside QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Go to the Banking menu.
  2. Hover over Bank Feeds and select Banking Center.
  3. Find your bank and select Download Transactions. This opens a browser window to your bank's website.
  4. Sign in to your bank's website to download the Web Connect file.

Outside QuickBooks Desktop:

  1. Open a web browser and go to your bank’s website.
  2. Sign in to your bank account using your normal process.
  3. Download your transactions as a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file.

Note: Every bank has a different method for downloading QuickBooks Web Connect files. If you're not sure how to do it, visit your bank's website and look for their steps. If you can't find any, reach out to your bank for help.

  4. Once you have the Web Connect file, follow the steps to import it into QuickBooks Desktop.

More details about downloading bank feed transactions in QBDT can be found in this article: Download Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

I cant get more than 90 days of transactions to load from my bank account

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately, this is not working for me. I can confirm that my bank connection works as I am able to connect and download the latest transactions. I then tried to import my QBO that I created on my bank website containing all 2021 transactions. The import fails with an error message that it cannot connect to my financial institution. But since I know the connection itself works, I'm not sure what to do next.

I have also tried creating a QBO file for one month at a time rather than an entire year, and it still does not work. The only transactions that will connect and import are from September onwards. Any thoughts?

@sbelletti

Check with your bank if they are allowed to share another file format. You can try migrating it with another method.

Can you be more specific? What other format could be used to import bank transactions into QB Desktop? I have a CSV file but I understand that it cannot be used for bank transactions.

Hello, sbelletti.

Let me share some information on how QuickBooks Desktop handles importing of your bank transactions.

To start with, importing your bank transactions into QuickBooks Desktop using CSV file is not yet available. On the other hand, if your financial institution supports WebConnect (.QBO) file, then you can import it to QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the File menu and Choose Utilities.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Select Web Connect Files.
  4. Choose the QBO file, then click Open.
  5. When prompted to choose bank account, choose Use an existing QuickBooks account if the account is already set up or Create a new QuickBooks account if it's not yet added.
  6. Press Continue.

When you see a window telling you that the data has been successfully read, click OK. Then go to the Bank Feeds Center to check the imported transactions.

For additional insights, I'm adding this article: Import/export CSV files.

You may check this article for additional reference: Troubleshoot Bank Feeds Web Connect import issues and errors.

Please be sure to let me know if there's anything else I can do to help you succeed. Stay safe!

@sbelletti

Utilize the converter tool as workaround. i.e CSV2QBO
