Thank for choosing QuickBooks as your business partner, jemrecycling.

I want to make sure you're able to delete duplicate transactions in QuickBooks. Since you've already disconnected the bank, you have to manually remove each entry through the Chart of Accounts.

I'm glad to walk you through the steps.

  1. Go to the Gear icon at the upper right.
  2. Pick Chart of Accounts under Your Company column.
  3. Locate the bank account, then click View Register under the Action column.
    delete a transaction.PNG
  4. Select the transaction, then Delete.
    delete a transaction1.PNG
  5. Hit Yes to confirm.

If you wish to connect again the bank account, I suggest excluding duplicate transactions instead of disconnecting it. From there, you'll be able to delete multiple entries. Here are the steps you can follow.

  1. Go to Bookkeeping, choose Transactions, then select Bank transactions.
  2. Proceed to the For review tab.
  3. Mark the checkbox of the transactions to exclude.
  4. Click Exclude.
  5. Once done, go to the Excluded tab.
  6. Mark all excluded transactions, then click choose Delete.

I'm also adding these articles for future reference.

I hope you find the steps easy to follow @jemrecycling. Thank you for posting. I enjoyed responding today. If any other questions arise, please feel free to contact me at any time in this thread. May your business flourish!

Is this option only for those who have their bank account connected to QBO?

As I mentioned in my original query I disconnected my bank account due to the problems.  I don't have an option to go to Bookkeeping > Transactions > Bank Transactions > For Review in my QBO program.

Hi there, jemrecycling.

Thanks for getting back to us. Allow me to jump in and share information about deleting duplicate bank transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Yes, that is correct! Since you already disconnected your bank account, you can delete those transactions directly in your bank register. However, the option to delete them in bulk is currently unavailable. You'll need to do it one at a time.

Here's how:

  1. In QBO, go to the Gear (Settings) icon at the top right.
  2. Select Chart of accounts.
  3. Locate the account name, then click View register under the Action column.
  4. Find and select the transactions, then choose Delete.
  5. Hit Yes to confirm.

If you wish to connect your bank again in the future, you can refer to this article for the detailed steps on how to do it: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.
