Hello there, earmsby. Let me provide information about deleting your data and starting over in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If the data in your QuickBooks account is less than 60 days old, you can choose to purge it. This option is available for QBO Essential, Plus, and Advance subscriptions. When you purge your account, all your data under that company file will be deleted permanently.
To purge your account file, follow the steps below:
However, if your subscription is 60 days or older, or you're on a Simple Start plan, you'll need to cancel it and purchase a new one.
These are the steps to cancel your plan:
Then, here's how to avail of a new subscription:

Hmm... that doesn't seem to work. When I load that URL, green dots spin around for about 3 seconds, then a pop-up message appears for less than 1 second. I could not read it since it disappeared too quickly. The only word I could capture was "embedded." After that some code appears on the screen with asterisks and the words "command" and "start." That is only on the screen also for about 1 second before the screen refreshes back to my main dashboard and all my bad data is still there.
I only created my account yesterday so I am well within 60 days. Is there any other way to do this other than paying for a second month with a "new" company?
Do you have QBO Simple Start or Essentials?
It appears I have Simple Start according to the Subscriptions and Billing screen.
Also, I noticed that the articles about purging the imported data indicate you have to be logged in as an admin. There is only me, but is it possible that somehow I am not an admin of my own account?

Hi there, earmsby. I'll share insights on what to do according to the details you've added to this thread. Confirming the plan you're using also helps me determine the righteous steps to start rectifying the
The same as what my colleague, Ivan_G, mentioned above, the option to purge an account is only available for QuickBooks Online (QBO) Essentials, Plus, and Advanced. This explains why you were not routed to the steps or expected instructions as the options aren't available on your plan, which is QBO Simple Start.
Since you're dedicated to eliminating the current data you have in your company file, we can follow the other suggestion outlined above, which is to cancel your current subscription and start a new company file. Here's how:

Thank you for that. I did end up canceling the subscription for that company and creating a new one for the same company but without importing from Desktop. That's working better. My only regret is that by canceling, you still have to pay for the entire month. So, I'm paying twice for only one usable company file.
I seem to be having trouble posting replies to this forum. When I reply, nothing happens. So this may end up being a double post as happened above.

Hello there, Earmsby.
I'm aware of the difficulties and appreciate the effort and patience you've put in to undo the imported file in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Upon canceling your past subscription and subscribing to a new one, you discovered a charge for the previous subscription for the entire month. That said, you can request a prorated refund for your first subscription. Please note that the application will be subject to approval.
