Chase bank no longer supports Internet explorer and hasn't for over a year, yet the newest 2020 QB Pro still has IE set as its default browser, with NO WAY TO CHANGE THE DEFAULT BROWSER. I spent about 4 hours bouncing between QB and Chase support teams today and found that the QB online support teams in general are not trained to know this, or tell the customer upfront, that this is a major issue. Chase customers have to multi-step-- download from Chase each file, then import each web connect file, into QB. What a colossal pain! Aren't there thousands of Chase customers that QB deals with every day? Why is tech support not trained to tell me this info in the first 5 minutes (vs hours)?
Then I heard the greatest. The QB team is working on updating the default browser to EDGE. OMG, how un-customer friendly can you get? We don't want EDGE any more than we wanted IE. What you can do to please your customers is GIVE US the ability to choose our browser. Fix that now!!! I'm mad I had to upgrade to 2020 and didn't get any more functionality from this new program.
Hello, @everclimber.
I understand that you need to bring your Chase transactions to QuickBooks. Rest assured our engineers are now working on this so customers using Chase account can use the banking feature seamlessly. At this time, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) only supports the Internet Explorer 11 (32-bit) browser. Since your bank doesn't support this browser anymore, we can manually import your bank transactions to bring them to QBDT.
First, log in to your Chase account and download your transactions as a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) file, then import it to QuickBooks.
After these steps, you can go to the Bank Feeds Center to review the transactions. I've also added this article to learn more about Bank Feeds for QuickBooks Desktop.
If you have any other questions, mention me in the comment section below. Keep safe, @everclimber.
Is there any update on QuickBooks changing the default browser? QBO files are a complete pain to use. Canandaigua National bank also has not supported Internet Explorer for a year. I have 10 companies with over 40 bank accounts. I too have been wasting hours and have had to hire additional employees to get work done that usually took a quarter of the time. Any update?
I understand this wasn't an easy process for you, Leah93.
As of now, changing the default browser isn't possible. QuickBooks recommends using Internet Explorer (IE) when downloading bank transactions.
If your bank doesn't support IE, you have the option to bring the transactions manually.
Here's how:
For your reference about the process, I suggest checking this article: Import Web Connect (.qbo) Files.
Once you downloaded your bank transactions, review and categorize them to ensure your books are accurate.
If I can be of any additional assistance, please don't hesitate to share your concerns or questions.
Explore this connector as a workaround to import data from PDF, CSV, Excel, .QIF, and even Web Connect files. Created especially for QuickBooks Online users who need to convert and directly import transactions from PDF Statements or other sources into QuickBooks Online. It supports all editions of QBO and QBSE.

For what it cost to own this, work on adding Chrome. Those steps are not the same as just running bank feeds. its a crappy bandaid.
WHY???????????????
Hey there, sullyerdem.
As of this moment, QuickBooks only support Internet Explorer (IE) (32-bit), so you can smoothly integrate your data. Check out the System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2021 page for more details about how this operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QuickBooks.
Furthermore, you can follow my colleague's steps if your bank doesn't support IE when importing transactions.
After that, please follow and make sure not to skip any of the steps outlined in this article: Import Web Connect (.qbo) files to prevent issues during the migration process.
Let me know if you have follow-up questions. Just mention my name, and I'll get back to you. Stay safe!
AileneA, I am also having this issue. My bank doesn't support IE anymore and I've tried to
Import Web Connect (.qbo) files but I get a message that the file is not supported (it is a .qbo file) and it won't import either. So frustrating!
Which QB Desktop year version do you have?
QB Desktop premier 2019
I am using a range of years 2018 - 2021
Hi there, xpedrosa and Leah93.
Thank you for coming back to the thread. This isn't the kind of experience that I'd like you to have when downloading your bank entries into QBDT. With this. I'll ensure to share details so you're able to achieve what you need.
As mentioned above, QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) only supports the Internet Explorer 11 (32-bit) browser as of now. Since you've got a message while trying importing data using our Web connect feature, there may be an issue with Web Connect. This feature issue can occur for several reasons. Sometimes, files from the bank are incomplete or in the wrong format. Changes on your bank's end can also create problems. To fix common Web Connect errors, you can start following the steps below.
To begin with, you'll have to create a backup of your company file. Then, make sure you're using a supported version of QuickBooks Desktop and Update Internet Explorer to the latest version.
Then, download your Web Connect file quickly from your bank, not from inside QuickBooks.
Here's how:
When you see an error when you download or import the file, there may be an issue with your bank. I suggest contacting your bank for help.
If you still see an error, you can click this article to view further troubleshooting steps to be performed to fix the issue: Fix Web Connect import errors.
Additionally, I'm adding this article to view detailed information on how you can add and match Bank Feed transactions in QBDT to avoid double entries on your end: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

Please let me know if you have any other questions about importing transactions. I'm always here to help. Wishing you all the best!
I am not having issues downloading QBO files. My issue is that in the time it takes to download and upload the QBO files for 40 bank accounts and logging in to the bank online repeatedly because of being timed out. I may as well enter the transactions myself. Not to mention the cost of having to hire employees and the increased cost to my clients because now it takes longer for us to do the bookkeeping. I am so disappointed in QuickBooks and wish there was another option.
Yes, we have had the same issue, and now it won't work for all of our credit unions and banks. I can't believe Intuit doesn't make this fixable. Only supporting a browser version that does not work is ridiculous, and feels like robbery considering how much the software costs, and they force you to buy a new desktop version every three years if you want to use Bank Feeds. It's been at least 5 years that this has been an ongoing problem, and they still have not fixed it. Not good!
Why is it taking over a year to solve this browser issue?
Quickbooks - get with the times, make the changes and updates your users/customers are requesting.

I just was forced to purchase QB 2022 Desktop Pro and guess what -- the browser has still NOT been updated. My bank has not supported IE for years now. So disappointing. QB get your act together.
The fact that QB requires IE is a NON-ANSWER. Microsoft has been warning for years that IE was going away. There's no excuse not to have a solution to this problem.
This is the problem with QuickBooks and Intuit as a company. Intuit has grown arrogant and complacent. THey have cornered the market on bookkeeping software. IE 11 was announced for EOL years ago and QuickBooks drug their feet because they don't want to PAY for additional development. NOW they have announced for the third time they are forcing everyone to use QB on-line. The last two times they received backlash from their customers BECAUSE QUICKBOOKS ONLINE IS GARBAGE!!! No one wants this. If you are using quickbooks and you value security do not go to quickbooks online. When QuickBooks stops using AMAZON WEB SERVICES to Host online files and services this may improve. QUICKBOOKS is not SOCII certified and they house financial and customer data from millions of accounts. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! Boycott QuickBooks online and do not link your bank account for Payroll to QuickBooks you will regret it.
