The QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018 loan manager "Alert me 10 before a payment is due" reminder does not work. This also has been a longstanding issue in my previous QB versions. All of my other QB date driven reminders work flawlessly.

I use a to do note that I update the date on every month as a reminder. Last month I made a typo on that date field which caused me to miss the loan payment due date.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct this nuisance?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Good Evening, @fillgas.

I'm here to give you some insight into your reminders. To properly assist you, can you provide me with a screenshot of the first reminder that you referred to as " The QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2018 loan manager Alert me 10 before a payment is due reminder does not work?" I want to make sure we're on the same page, and this will allow me to determine the best answer to your question.

Here's an extra link that provides additional information about the Loan Manager feature.

I want to ensure that we get this issue resolved as soon as possible. I'll be on standby.

Thanks for providing a screenshot, @fillgas.

May I ask who is having this issue? Is it just you or all the Users? No worries, I'm here to provide you troubleshooting to isolate the issue.

Let's begin if it's just you having this issue. We can run the Repair Tool for your QuickBooks. Here's how:

  1. If you haven't already, back up your company file.
  2. Restart your computer. This makes sure there are no programs that may affect the repair.
  3. Open the Windows Start menu, then pick the Control Panel.
  4. Select Programs and Features then Uninstall a Program.
    • If you don't see Programs and Features, press Programs > Program and Features.
  5. Choose QuickBooks from the list of Programs, then Uninstall/Change.
  6. Hit Continue, or Next.
  7. Press Repair, then Next.
    • The repair should start right away, but it may take a while to finish. You can leave it running, and come back once it's done.
  8. Once it's done, select Finish.
    • You may have to restart your computer to complete the repair.
  9. Update your QuickBooks to the latest release. This makes sure you have the most recent fixes and security updates.

If multiple Users are facing the same issue, then we can Verify and Rebuild the data for your QuickBooks. If you have Assisted Payroll, I recommend reaching out to our Desktop Payroll Support for further assistance. I've provided the steps below on how to do the Verify and Rebuild with ease:

  1. Press Window then Close All.
  2. Click File > Utilities > Verify Data.
  3. Once completed, then we can move on to Rebuild the data.
  4. If you haven't already, back up your company file.
  5. Choose File Utilities > Rebuild Data.
  6. You will receive a warning message to backup your company file, press OK.
  7. Select where you want to save your backup, then select OK at the bottom of the QuickBooks Desktop Backup window.
    • If a message asks if you want to replace another backup file, select NO. Enter a new name in the File name field and click Save.
  8. The Rebuild Data utility starts as soon as the backup is finished.
  9. Hit OK when you get the message "Rebuild has completed".

This should make the Alert message come back to life! If you need further assistance, just know that I'm always here for you. Have a beautiful day.

The issue was occurring on both machines. However I ran both the repair tool, which found no issues, and the verify & rebuild data. Now unfortunately the loan manager has disappeared. I looked for the lmr file in the QB data file and could not find it. Should I restore the company file from the backup? Unfortunately some additional work has been done in QB since the backup. Therefore I would rather not do a complete restore.

Unfortunately the previous minor annoyance is now a significant issue.
