Looking for the Unreconcile function in QBO, logged in as Admin... still can't see it

Thanks for posting in the Community forum, @userhagar.

The undo reconciliation feature is currently available in QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) only. If the Undo option on the Action drop-down isn't showing, probably you're not using the QBOA version. Thus, if you're using the regular version, you'll have to manually unreconcile each transaction.

Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon at the top.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Locate the appropriate account for the transaction.
  4. Click View Register on the Action column.
  5. Identify the transaction to edit.
  6. In the reconcile status column (indicated by a checkmark), repeatedly click the top line of the transaction to change the status, then Save.
  • - Cleared.
  • - Reconciled.
  • Blank - Not cleared or reconciled.

For more details, check out this article: Undo or remove transactions from reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.

Also, here's an article to learn how to undo a reconciliation using QBOA: Undo a client’s reconciliation in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about the reconciliation process in QBO. I'd be glad to answer should you have any follow-up questions. Have a great day.

Thanks for joining us here today, @EHS2.

Let me share some insights about undoing a past reconciliation. In QuickBooks Online (QBO), only the QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) version has the option to do it.

As mention by my peer @MirriamM, you can manually unreconcile each transaction or invite an accountant to do it for you.

To invite an accountant:

  1. Go to Gear.
  2. Choose Manage Users.
  3. In the Manage Users page, select the Accounting firms tab.
  4. Enter your accountant's email address.
  5. Click the Invite button.

Once you're done inviting, your accountant can proceed to undoing your entire reconciliation. Refer to this article for details: Undo a client’s reconciliation in QuickBooks Online Accountant.

I'm adding this link here in case you need help managing bank-related tasks. It has our general banking topics with articles: Find help with bank feeds and reconciling accounts.

Please know that you're always welcome to drop by anytime if you have follow-up questions or concerns with bank reconciliation. I'll be around to assist you. Take care and have a lovely day ahead.

I am trying to fix  entries on a past reconciliation that a so called trusted book keeper made on an early reconciliation. I am not an accountant but have been doing my books on QuickBooks for years and it drives me nuts that I am carrying this discrepancy in my books. I want to re-reconcile that account but can't un-reconcile  what he has done because I don't have the button on my software that allows me to do so. I am told there is a one time over-ride that you can give me to undo a reconciliation. Can you help me with that?
