manually input credit card transactions - not upload

We are making the move from Quickbooks desktop to Quickbooks online.  We do not want to connect our credit card to the program to download the transactions.  How do I manually enter credit card transactions into the online program.  When using the desktop version you just selected input credit card charges.

I'd be glad to help you enter your credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), dag.

In QBO, it is possible to input credit card charges manually without the need to link your account to online banking or import transactions. To do so, we'll have to enter them as expenses. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to do this:

  1. Go to the + New icon and then choose Expense.
  2. Enter the Payee name and select the Credit card used for the transaction from the Payment Account drop-down.
  3. Select the Credit card type under the Payment method drop-down list.
  4. Fill in the other necessary information.
  5. Once done, click on Save and Close.

Please know that I always welcome you for further inquiries about managing and tracking your transactions. Have a great day ahead!

Welcome back, @dag-76. I appreciate your follow-up concerning the credit card transactions you want to enter in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You can pull up your credit card transactions to ensure it balances by running a QuickReport. Before that, make sure first to enter the credit card transactions by entering them as expenses. You can follow the steps shared by my peer above.

Once added, you can go to the Transactions menu, select Chart of Accounts, and look for the account. From the Action dropdown, click Run report

Moreover, when you record a transaction in QBO, you need to categorize it. This way, you'll be putting them on the correct accounts. After that, it's recommended to reconcile your accounts every month so they always match your bank and credit card statements.

If you have any other questions concerning your QuickBooks credit card transactions, please let me know by adding a comment below. I want to make sure everything is taken care of.
