My bank transactions are not updating

Thank you for raising your concern here in the Community, lolcomat66.

Let's manually update your bank account by toggling the Refresh all button. Let me guide you how.

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Bank accounts.
  3. Click the Refresh all radio button a couple of times to update your banks.

If the issue persists, you can manually import your bank transactions using a CSV file.

Additionally, I encourage categorizing your transactions in QuickBooks. This ensures your books are accurate.

Please let us know in the comment section below if you have other banking questions or concerns. I'd be glad to help you out anytime. Take care!

There is no "Bank Accounts" under the gear icon.  At least, not for online quickbooks

My bank transactions are not updating

Thanks for joining this thread, @Achilles. It's my priority to ensure you'll be able to update your bank transactions.

In QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE), you'll see the Bank Accounts option in the Gear icon under the Transactions column. If you don't see this option, you can select the Connect bank button instead. This will route you to the Bank Accounts page. Once done, you can now follow the steps outlined by my colleague, CharleneMae_F to update your bank connection.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), you'll only see the Transaction or Banking menu. This will route you to the Banking page and from there, you'll see the bank or credit card accounts connected to your QBO. Then, refer to the steps below in updating your bank:

  1. From the Banking page.
  2. Click the Update button.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).
  4. Then, click Continue update.

For your reference, please visit this article: Download the most recent bank and credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online. This also includes links on how you can resolve banking errors.

In case you have to enter past transactions in QuickBooks, you can browse through these articles for detailed instructions:

Then, to ensure your transactions will be allocated to the correct categories and accounts in QuickBooks, you have to categorize them. The following are the links that will guide the process:

I'm always around in the Community if you have any other banking concerns. Don't hesitate to post again here. Take care.

My bank transactions are not updating

I'm having the same problem. Am using Quickbooks Online.

My account quick updating on 3/25. The bank balance in the blue box reflects the balance on that day and has not changed in 6 days.

I click "update" and it says "updating" even past the site timing out to where I have to log in again.

When clicking the "Link account" button, it shows I am linked and today's correct balance is in grey. So the account is connected.

My bank transactions are not updating

Hi, Laura. Let's isolate the issue you had with your bank transactions not updating to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

To get started, may I know the name of your bank account? This way, I can gather enough details and check for possible investigations on our end.

Usually, updating the bank manually by clicking on the Update button should fix the issue. If not, you may sign in to your bank's website to check for notifications that need attention or review any ongoing maintenance. If you're getting the same result, you can follow the next solutions provided in this link to isolate the issue: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

For the time being, you may utilize the web connect feature by bringing your bank entries to QBO manually.

  1. Get the transactions from your bank.
  2. Review the file format and size.
  3. Upload the transactions to QuickBooks.

Once done, you're now ready to match and categorize your transactions. In case you find duplicate records, you can always exclude them from the For Review section.

If you have other banking questions, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!

My bank transactions are not updating

I don't feel you are giving a actual solution.  You're just telling them how to manually update it.  We all know how to manually update.  The issue isn't that it's not updating. The issue is we're having to manually do it when it should be doing it automatically!

My bank transactions are not updating

Thanks for joining in this forum, @nwa. I understand that you need your transactions to download automatically in QuickBooks.

Please know that our system will always depend on what your bank send us. If the transactions are updated in your bank but not in QuickBooks, we advised customers to manually update it in QuickBooks instead.

However, if nothing comes up even after manually updates, we recommend you log in to your bank's website to check for notifications that need attention or review any ongoing maintenance.

In case you're getting the same result, you can follow the next solutions provided in this link to isolate the issue: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to message again should you have additional banking concerns. We're always here to guide you some more. Take care!

My bank transactions are not updating

Almost every time I open my QBO account, the bank accounts are already 'updating' (meaning that the pinwheels are circling consistently).  It never actually complete and is just stuck in this mode for extremely long periods of time (over 45min).  I usually just give up and try again the next morning.

Is there any way to stop the update and start afresh because clearly the account sync is frozen.  This happens ALL THE TIME, but rarely happens in my client's accounts.  Please advise how to work around this issue to get my bank accounts updated in a reasonable amount of time. (PS: the bank is the same as some accounts in other QBO companies I have, so that can't be the issue.)

My bank transactions are not updating

I appreciate you chiming in on this thread.

When you connect your bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO), it will automatically download your most recent transactions. However, consider disconnecting your online bank account from QuickBooks if the update seems stuck.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking from the left menu.
  2. Select the appropriate bank account you want to disconnect.
  3. Hit the pencil icon, then select Edit account info.
  4. Put a checkmark in the Disconnect this account on the save checkbox.
  5. Click Save and Close.

Please note that if you notice a bank connection error, do not disconnect the account until the online banking errors are resolved. When you reconnect it after disconnecting with errors, it may download duplicate transactions. You may read this article for reference: Disconnect accounts connected to online banking in QuickBooks Online.

I'm adding this page if you want to automatically categorize transactions, feel free to view this article for the detailed process: Set up bank rules.

Additionally, if you encounter an error with your first and last reconciliations, use this articles for your guide on how to fix them:

Please leave a comment below to let me know how it goes. I just want to make sure you're ready to re-categorize your transactions. I'll be there to continue assisting. Have a wonderful day.

My bank transactions are not updating

I have gone a whole month in October without the bank feed updating. It was escalated to the developers who after 4 weeks 'fixed' the issue and the bank feed started working again. They did not access our accounts and said it was a problem behind the scenes.

It worked for about a week and now the same problem has occurred and no feed updating again.

I did do a manual download from our bank and updated QBO this way, but when the feed started 'working' again, I ended up with 300 duplicate entries that I had to manually delete. This is causing us a lot of wasted time manually entering daily transactions now and still no updates from QBO about a fix.

Why are we paying for software that doesn't work and causes more headaches trying to work around this problem.

My bank transactions are not updating

Hi, @chelleon. It isn't the kind of experience I want you to have while working on your bank transactions. I'll make sure to fix your issue in no time.

I can see that your bank is downloading entries intermittently. I want you to have a seamless flow while working with your entries. First, I'd like to know the name of your bank. Second, have you received error messages or pop-up notifications when the system stops bringing your entries? This way, I can gather enough information and look for any open investigations on our end.

More information and your reply are much appreciated. Keep safe always!

My bank transactions are not updating

I have been having the same issue.  I spoke with support and they said their engineers were working on it.  It worked for about a week and now it has been 15 days and it has not worked.  I have two accounts at the same bank and one feeds perfectly and the other does not.  I don't see that this is a bank issue, it is a Quickbooks issue.  We pay way too much for this product for the continued problems it causes.

My bank transactions are not updating

Hello there, jlthomcpa. I understand the importance of keeping track of your bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.  I'm here to help you figure this out so you can update your bank transactions in QuickBooks.

Beforehand, I'd like to know the name of your bank and if you encounter any specific error message when updating your bank transactions. This way, we can check if there's an ongoing investigation into this issue and provide a resolution that fits your situation. A screenshot would also be a great help.

For now, we can perform the basic troubleshooting steps. This helps fix your browser to work better and faster caused of stored cookies and cache, that block you from updating your bank transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Restart your browser.
  2. Try uploading your transactions in an incognito or private browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts to launch a new private window:

Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If it works, you can return to your regular browser and clear your browser's cache. Then you may see if it fixes the problem and gets started on the tasks at hand. However, if the incognito window didn't work, you can use other supported browser.

You may also check your bank website to see if there's any service maintenance since it can also enable you to update your bank.

Please let me know in the comment section if you need more help. I'll be around. Take care!

My bank transactions are not updating

@GebelAlainaM I am not using Quickbooks Self-Employed, I am using QBO Accountant.  The bank is Ontario Shores FCU.  The savings account updates with no issues but the checking will not.  There are not any errors.  I've tried everything you have mentioned many times and keep getting the same thing.  When I called support I was told the engineers are working on it.  It seems to me they are not working on it.  This has gone on way to long!

Thank you for getting back on this thread and providing an update, @jlthomcpa.

Beforehand, I appreciate you for clarifying the product you're using. Thus, my colleague GebelAlainaM already updated her response above.

I know this hasn't been easy for you to perform all those fixes to get around this query with your bank not updating the transactions.

Since the issue persists after trying the steps above and you didn't encounter any errors, I'd suggest reaching out to the Ontario Shores Federal Credit Union support team. There's a great possibility that there having system maintenance.

I'd also understand that you've already contacted our QuickBooks Accountant Online Support team. Still, you can contact them again to ask for updates since the engineers are already working on a fix.

If you're still unable to receive updates, you can log in to your bank's website, download an updated list of your transactions, and upload them to QuickBooks using a CSV file. You can check this article for the detailed steps: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Furthermore, you might find this resource handy in adding your transactions: Manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Please keep us updated on your progress in resolving this issue. It's my priority to ensure that your issue is resolved. Keep safe always.

I'm having the exact same issue- they said it's an engineering problem with quickbooks. This should be first priority for your customers because it is tax season. We all pay good money for this software for this time of the year specifically. Please resolve quickly.

My bank transactions are not updating

Hi LollyNino_C,

I have already spoke twice now with support and problem has yet to be resolved. They placed me on a ticket, but it is tax season and from all the other comments in the forums I'm reading, this is a common problem that doesn't get fixed. This is ridiculous, already did 9 months of categorizing transactions and now decides not to work. And no one is able to directly fix it. Quickbooks help is just passing around the problem and not fixing the issue.

My bank transactions are not updating

My checking account stopped updating 1-9-23.  If I do a manual update it spins for several minutes and then stops - no error message.  I have tried on multiple browsers and the iPhone app. Is there any known issue with PNC bank?

Mich_S

My bank transactions are not updating

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this banking issue, @kbtx. I'm here to help you isolate the issue.

Currently, there aren't known issues about PNC Bank transactions not updating in QuickBooks Online.

Normally, the most-visited pages in QBO open in 10 seconds. Although QuickBooks Online is a web-based service, it also depends on the processing speed, RAM size, and Internet connection bandwidth of your computer or device to function as intended. Performance might be impacted by weakness in any area. System requirements for QuickBooks Online might help you identify the cause of weak performance, so be sure your system satisfies them.

Make sure your internet is stable. Then, log in and manually update the transactions to your QBO company using an incognito page to check if it has something to do with the browser. See below for the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If this works, then you'll need to go back to the main browser and clear your regular browser cache. This helps prevent any unusual browser behavior moving forward.

If not, try using another compatible browser you haven't used yet. Otherwise, get in touch with your financial institution to check if the trouble comes from their end. They'll also advise you on the best resolution.

Once everything is in order, you may also find these guides helpful when handling bank transactions in QBO.

Hope this goes well so you can get back into business soon enough. Let us know if you need more help with banking or QuickBooks. We're available 24/7 to back you up. Stay safe and have a good one!

My bank transactions are not updating

My bank is not having a maintenance issue. This is a quickbooks problem. I have called 4 times and no one is able to help.  I was told my case was escalated multiple times but no one has called back and no one has helped.  It has been 5 weeks in my American Express Credit Card is no longer updating, and none of my bank accounts are updating.

Absurd.  Also, your customer support is horrendous.  No help on the phone and certainly no help in this forum.  You may as well employ robots as customer service agents because your customer service agents simply read the same script over and over and don't actually understand how Quickbooks software works.

Many of us are on our way out the door, and attempting to find new accounting software.  Your software has turned into a complete disaster and you owe all of us refunds for at least the last 30 days.  Your software does not work.  Stop blaming the banks. QB is the problem. Fix yourselves.

My bank transactions are not updating

I am having the same issue.  QB reads that the transactions were updated "moments ago" but I cannot find a new transaction since 01/09/2023.  I have tried all of the solutions outlined in this discussion thread.

My bank account is from Peninsula Federal Credit Union, if that helps.

I just talked my non-profit into switching the QB so they're watching how it is working and this is not looking good.
