Parent and sub credit card accounts

We set up our business about 6 months ago.  We linked a subordinate credit card as the main card for the primary sales and installation person.  The main card is assigned to another person who is going to start selling and installing.  When I set up that main parent card it pulls in all of the transactions that have occurred to date.  We want to be able to track activity by card and in total.  How should I reconcile this and set it up so its useable going forward?  Do I unlink the original card from the bank account? How do I account for the over 200 transactions that have been reconciled on the subordinate card? Thanks in advance

Parent and sub credit card accounts

Welcome to the Community, John. I appreciate you for reaching out to us.

Some banking firms may display the overall bank balance at each subaccount level. It is because the bank provides us with a static balance of the entire account rather than the balance of each subaccount.

I suggest contacting your bank to know their way of linking the parent and subaccount and if they permit both or only one.

You may visit this article for a more detailed explanation about setting up a bank or credit card account with multiple subaccounts. You'll learn how to easily connect it to your bank and reconcile downloaded transactions in QuickBooks Online: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.

To learn how to review downloaded bank and credit card transactions and put them in the correct accounts, check out this article: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
