Please ensure that the $300 is not on a pending status from your bank as QuickBooks will only recognize posted items.
Also, security updates, connectivity issues, and data transmission interruptions are possible reasons behind the unusual behavior. When this happens, I'd suggest adding the missing transaction to your account register.

Thank you for the advice. I have "manufactured" an import transaction and the books balance as they should.
I still have no understanding of the reason that QB Online cannot (or will not) import the singular transaction from the bank. On Tuesday I will take up that question with the bank.

Following your advice, I have "manufactured" a banking transaction that stands in place of a normal import. Now, the books balance as they should.
