Join nowI am using my QB Cash envelopes to track my estimated tax payments I need to make quarterly for my business. I transferred money into the envelope before the quarter end so I don't spend that money. Once I transfer the money back to QB Cash from the envelope to pay my quarterly taxes I am done with that envelope. If I were to delete that envelope, will the transactions that had been in that Envelope be deleted as well. I have zeroed it out. I used the envelope only for a short period if time.
Hello, smbcpa42.
Thank you for reaching out to the Community. You can simply disconnect the account if it was connected online. I'll also show you how to completely remove the electronic feeds if you don't need the data from the bank.

Yes thank you for that information but that's not what I was asking. I use QuickBooks cash and I set up those envelopes to set money aside. When I'm done using the envelopes and I've transferred the money from the envelopes back into QuickBook cash to be able to use the money those envelopes sit there zeroed out but I wanted to know can I delete them and if I delete them will those transactions be deleted from my QuickBooks permanently. I completely understand how to disconnect bank feeds that's not what I was asking. But I do appreciate your insight.
Thanks for coming back, smbcpa42.
The option to delete an envelope is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO). However, we can edit it or change its name and ensure you have transferred the money out from the created envelope. Here's how:

Hello smbcpa42,
I'll be happy to answer your question on the effect of deleting an envelope account. Yes, envelope accounts can be removed. As for your original question, the transaction history will also be deleted when you delete an envelope.
I remember the days when we used white envelopes to set aside funds for certain purposes. I hope that you like this feature in QuickBooks, and send us feedback if you want to suggest something. You can also check about using money from envelopes to pay for payroll in QuickBooks Online for your additional reference.
Feel free to go back to this thread if you have additional questions about the feature. I'll be more than happy to assist you again. Take care!
Thank you so much for actually answering my question. That is what I thought but I wasn't 100% sure. I just wish there was a way that once you transfer the money out of the envelope and or you reach the envelopes goal that there is a way to quote unquote close it out so that it can be reused as another envelope. I have several envelopes that I just wanted to consolidate but now I can't do that because of the history of the transactions. But I do appreciate it thank you.
Thanks for getting back with the Community, smbcpa42. I'm happy to hear JessT was able to help you find an answer to your question.
I can certainly understand how an ability to reuse an empty envelope as a new one could be useful and have submitted a suggestion about it as of today.
You can also submit your own feature requests while signed in.
