QBO Online Advanced: Online banking question

I have been searching the community for information on how to void a Online Banking ACH that was returned due to the vendor's bad routing number and how to update the vendor banking information.

In the process I see many references to "go to Bill.Pay" and instructions after that reference options that I do not have. Is that supposed to be an selection on the menu? I do not see it there, and I do not see anything in Settings/Account & Setting.

Also, I am confused between "online banking" and the "bill pay" option that utilizes bill.com. In any event, I do not see anything that references online banking or bill pay. When I choose the pay a vendor, I have options to Schedule a Payment or Mark as paid. Scheduling a payment take me to a simple screen with our bank info (and the option to Add a Bank).

I have rebooted my computer using Windows 11 for business and Chrome.

I also tried logging in incognito but no joy there either.

Thank you in advance for any insight you can give me!

Elaine

QBO Online Advanced: Online banking question

Surprise!

I opened Pay Bills from NEW on the left hand menu, and saw where bills paid by Bill Pay live, just enable the feature and there they are. Disable the feature and it is back at the normal bill page.

It is entirely possible this has always been available and I didn't notice it, or it recently became available. In any event, I can do what I need to do now, and thank you greatly to everyone here who contributed to solving the issue!

QBO Online Advanced: Online banking question

Hello Elaine!

Allow me to assist you with this returned ACH payment.

Your question is about Online Bill Pay. Online banking is a feature in QuickBooks Online that allows you to connect your bank to automatically download the transactions. You can check this article for more details:

Please follow these steps on how to void the payment to the vendor.

  1. Go to Transactions or Expenses, then select Expenses.
  2. Select Pay Bills Online, then the Payments tab.
  3. Find the payment, then select Track Status.
  4. Click Void, select a void request type, and enter a reason.
  5. Tap Submit Request.

Also, here are the steps on how to update the vendor's bank information:

  1. On the Pay Bills Online page, click the hyperlink under the Payment Method column.
  2. Update the vendor's bank account details.
  3. Select Save.

In addition, the settings for Online Bill Pay can be found on the Pay Bills Online page. You simply need to select the Gear icon to access the Online Bill Pay settings.

I also added this article to learn more on how to use the Online Bill Pay: What is Online Bill Pay?

QBO Online Advanced: Online banking question

Thank you, AlexV!

Oh, THAT is online banking. Been using it forever, just didn't realize what it was called.

For the steps below I can finish Step One.

For Step two, I do not see anything on the page that says Pay Bills Online.

That is where I am stuck. I know we have it, I signed up for it myself.

Any suggestions? I've learned from this community to log out and log back in will sometimes refresh everything for you, but that does not work in this instance.

Again, thank your for taking the time to help out.

QBO Online Advanced: Online banking question

Hi eemahaffey!

You're always welcome. Thank you also for the reply. Let me provide more details on how to access Online Bill Pay.

I added screenshots to see where you can locate the Pay Bills Online. The first is in the Expenses tab, and you can also find it on the Vendors tab.

If you still can't find them, you'll want to use an incognito window and check it from there. Incognito won't save your browsing history which can result in an error.

These are some of the shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: ⌘ + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

In addition, you'll want to clear the cache and make sure you're using a supported and up-to-date browser. This can fix any browser-related issues.

I also added this link if you need help in linking your bank account to easily import your bank transactions: Connect bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Keep on posting here if you need more help with this. Thanks!

QBO Online Advanced: Online banking question

Hi AlexV,

Thank you for the screenshot, it was helpful to make sure I was not overlooking anything.

And ---the screenshot shows the items missing from my view.

I tried the incognito but went one better and opened QBO on a computer that had never accessed it before, and there was no change.

I am not sure where to go from here. Yikes.
