Hello,
I'm slowly starting my business, so haven't logged on to QB since late March 2021 (and my husband logged in once 2-4 weeks ago and may have simply categorized a single transaction as "business"). Now, I am missing random bank transactions from April and May 2021 (possibly also in June, July, August, but I haven't gone through those yet).
Refreshing updates current transactions but does not bring in those missing transactions.
I know how to use a CSV file to add in the missing transactions. My bank will only allow me to export 45 days at a time.
What I want to know is WHY this happened. Is there something about my not logging on and refreshing on at least a monthly basis that compromises the transaction download such that some random transactions but not all are downloaded?
I count on QB to reliably reflect my bank statements so that I only need to categorized and attach receipts. Not very helpful if it lacks that reliability.

I appreciate you for providing detailed information about your concern.
I'm here to share some insights into why some of your bank transactions are missing.
You may have issue with your bank connection at the time you uploaded the transactions
Not being able to log in to your QBSE account won't affect your transaction as long as your bank is connected.
In this case, you can verify with your bank if there's an ongoing issue and you can update your bank manually.
Here's how:
On the other hand, you can manually download the transactions before the 90 days from your bank's website to a CSV Excel file.
I'll be adding this article that tackles manually adding bank transactions to QBSE and avoid duplicate transactions: Manually import transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed
For more information, I added some articles about handling your banking, taxes, tracking, and logging data.
Come back to our forum for other questions or clarifications with your bank transactions. I'm always here to help. Have a nice day!

I am experiencing this problem with some old transactions on QBO, I click Update but it still missing a transaction, what can i do? I can't find Bank Accounts under Gear Icon at all
Thank you
I’m here to provide instructions so you’ll be able to locate your missing transaction, @vnwind.
The steps provided above are intended for QuickBooks Self-Employed users. This is why you’re unable to see the Bank accounts option under the Gear icon.
Please know that QuickBooks Online (QBO) only downloads 90 days of your recent transactions. Since you’ve mentioned you’re having an issue with your old transactions, you can review your account's history to check the missing entries. I’ll show you how:
You can also run a report for uncategorized accounts to look for your missing transaction. Here's how:
Check out this article to learn how to find missing transactions downloaded from your online bank and credit card accounts: What to do if you can’t find downloaded transactions.

Thank you Madelync,
Thank you for letting me know that QBO only download 90 days which was the reason why,
Now another problem I found is that if i go
There are two latest transaction of today 15/11 that are there but on my Transactions tab, I can't find them on any tabs and the latest transaction under these tabs is 09/11.
What should i do?
Thank you
I can help you locate your missing transactions, vnwind.
Your bank account listed in the Chart of Account page have the View register option under the ACTION column. Further, when you go to the Banking page, you'll see on the bank tile that there's a number that indicates the number of downloaded transactions sitting on the For review tab. If you're still unable to see the transactions made outside, it's possible that the bank hasn't cleared them yet.
However, f you’re not getting the latest transactions, or updates seem stuck, we can do a manual update. I'll show you how:
This updates your connected bank accounts. The number of transactions in each account tile will increase if QuickBooks downloads new transactions. You can click the link for more details on some ways how to find missing transactions: What to do if you can’t find downloaded transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Meantime, you can manually upload missing transactions to keep your books updated.
Keep in touch for updates. I'm still here whenever you need help with QuickBooks or anything else.
hi Catherine,
I dont really see View register option under Action
And there is 0 under For Review tab
If the bank has not clear them up yet then why they are under the Account History?
Should I wait for the bank sync or should i import these two manually? Also what does C and empty means under Account History?
Thank you
Hi, @jennifer-kaionac and @vnwind.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community, I am here to help and ensure that you'll able to view your register in QuickBooks Online.
One possible reason you're not able to access the View Register is you're not the Company Administrator. In this case, you'll need to contact the Master Admin so they can add you as a new user.
However, if you're already a user and the View Register isn't showing, you'll need to perform the basic troubleshooting steps. You can start with opening the browser in incognito/private mode.
Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:
Once you've completed the steps above and you're able to access the payment history, I suggest clearing your browser's cache to start fresh.
Additionally, a cleared (C) transaction means cleared, but not yet been officially reconciled.
Let me know if you have other concerns or questions. I'll be around to help you anytime. Take care!
Hi and hello from florida. that function used to work and stopped where i get 5% of random months or 0% of same under another card. were you able to figure out how to get it functioning. Thank you in advance Scott
I am sick of QB randomly doing stupid stuff and last year was the time i use it - talking to accountant about a replacement program - support sucks every time - every time and i am sick of it
This doesn't solved the problem for me. I use Quickbooks to keep track of my transactions so that I don't have to do it manually. Are you telling us that we can't be certain QB will actually track all of our expenses? That I have to track everything manually and then do the work of comparing the two?
I only by accident realized that half my phone bill payments for the year are missing in QB. They show in my bank account but not here. Likewise, random single transactions are missing. More than half of my student loan payments are missing. It's very frustrating the amount of time it's going to take me to figure out what all is missing and ensure I don't import duplicates. This is a dealbreaker for me unless we can fix this. I provide QB to my accountant, if I'm missing transactions that means my taxes are not accurate, which is a huge deal.
Hello there.
I understand the importance of ensuring that QuickBooks can track all your transactions. I would feel the same way if I were in the same situation.
In the meantime, I recommend manually updating your bank register if there are missing transactions. It will update your connected bank accounts.
Here's how:
I'm also adding this article to learn more on what to do bank transactions won't download: What to do if bank transactions won’t download.
For future reference, you can read this article about categorizing online bank transactions: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.
Feel free to comment below if you have questions about bank transactions. I'm always here to help. Have a great day.
I'm sorry but none of these suggestions solve the problem. First of all, this tutorial is for Quickbooks online, and I'm using Self-Employed. So this isn't helpful in the slightest as this option isn't available to me.
Second, the the solution to the problem of having to manually do this should not be "I recommend manually updating your bank register." It needs to be automatic. Every time. That's what we're paying for.
I have refreshed all my bank accounts and the missing transactions do not show. My bank connections are updated obviously, because new transactions download every day--but not ALL of them. What is the fix for getting QB to AUTOMATICALLY DOWNLOAD EVERY SINGLE TRANSACTION? That is the only solution I'm interested in.
Thanks for checking the suggestions above and adding clarifications, fourbyfive-.
I'm more than willing to offer further guidance to address your concern in QuickBooks Self-Employed (QBSE).
Before we proceed, could you share with me the bank you're currently using with QuickBooks? This will help me identify any potential issues within your financial institution that might be related to the problem you're encountering right now.
In the meantime, let's run some troubleshooting steps to fix the concern and download all of your transactions at once in QBSE. Let's start by accessing your account in a private browsing window. This way, we can determine whether the problem is linked to a cache-related matter. Simply press these shortcut keys to open this mode:
Once completed, attempt to refresh your account again. If it works, return to your regular browser and clear its cache. If the issue persists, I would recommend using another supported browsers.
Additionally, you have the option to manually import your missing transactions into QuickBooks Self-Employed. This approach ensures that your accounts are kept up-to-date. Once the transactions are imported, you only need to approve the way QuickBooks categorizes them.
Should you have any further inquiries or concerns regarding banking matters, feel free to share. I'm here to provide assistance. Best regards!
I am using Wells Fargo with two accounts: personal and business.
I already tried clearing my cache, and previously already tried accessing from an incognito window and missing transactions don't show up there either. I've been scouring forums for this and all I see is people with the same issue and no solution that works.
Again, "manually importing my missing transactions" is not a fix. In order to do that I would need to go through every transaction in two bank accounts for this entire year and cross-reference that with what made it into QB just to even see what's missing. (It's easy to search for the names of bills I pay every month and see that half of them aren't there, but I can't possibly know what all individual transactions are missing from the last 8 months). That is a HUGE time suck and defeats the purpose of having QB import transactions automatically. I'm paying for this feature and now I have to spend my time doing granular remedial accounting work that I already paid to be done? QB should offer to handle this for their clients if this is the only solution, honestly.
Additionally, I've already spent HOURS this year categorizing and editing all of my transactions, so starting over and importing all of them fresh means I have to do all of that work again.
And still none of this explains why some transactions are downloading every night and some aren't.
