Reconnecting my bank account to Quickbooks Online

Hello,

My QuickBooks Online account disconnected from my bank account. I logged in to QB and went to the bank transactions page. I entered in my credentials for my bank account but it is not reconnecting. Any tips?

Reconnecting my bank account to Quickbooks Online

Hello there, Sarah. I want to ensure you can reconnect your bank account to QuickBooks Online.

Before anything else, ensure that you're entering the correct login credentials for your bank account. Double-check your username or password and validate if the bank's URL is correct.

Also, it's a good idea to visit your bank's website and check for any alerts or notifications from your financial institutions that might impact your connection to QuickBooks Online. Sometimes, banks experience service issues or need extra verification, which can stop QuickBooks from connecting.

Once you confirm this, let's connect your bank:

  1. Head over to the Transactions menu. Select Bank Transactions.
  2. Click Link Account.
  3. Enter the correct URL or name of your bank in the Search field. Choose your financial institution.
  4. If you can't find your bank, you can manually upload it. However, you'll need to request first a CSV file of your bank statement from your financial institution.
  5. In the Login and Password fields, sign in. Continue
  6. Press the account you want to connect, including the date to pull transactions from the dropdown ▼. Then, select Next.
  7. On the Account type dropdown, pick your account type. Hit Next.

If the issue persists, you can use other browser troubleshooting options to help us determine if this is a browser-related issue. Excessive browsing history can lead to errors and affect QuickBooks performance.

Moreover, I'd like to ask the name of your financial institution and if there are any errors you encounter while reconnecting your account. This way, we'll be able to check if there are any reported cases related to this.

Once you've successfully reconnected your bank account to QuickBooks Online, your transactions will update automatically. The process of updating transactions depends on the bank, but the system generally updates it every night. This process will ensure you can match or categorize them with your existing records.
