QBO and QBSE are two different products. You can only convert data from QBO US version to QBD US version. If you are using QBO non-US version, you must convert your data to QBO US version as the stepping stone.
Hi
What is QBSE?
I want to change now. Please connect me to a person now.
Give me a working phone number!
QB Online US version to QB Desktop US version, or else?
Thank you for joining this thread, fred61.
I can help and provide answers to any questions you may have about QuickBooks. But, I have to ask for more details on what you're experiencing to ensure a timely solution.
May I know if you're trying to migrate your data to another QuickBooks platform? Can you provide the specific product? Also, did you encounter any error codes or messages?
I appreciate additional details you can share. I'm looking forward to working you again, fred61.
Hi -
QBO Tech/support could not provide us the data file to transfer to QB Premier and recommended to use a 3rd party vendor https://www.exportmybooks.com/ to do it. Has anyone encountered similar issue?
Thanks in advance!
Pia
Let me provide some information when migrating QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop, ELB2023.
In QuickBooks Online (QBO), your data is hosted securely on our systems in an active/passive configuration in multiple regions across the US region. Though we're unable to provide your QBO data, as long as your QBO subscription is active, you'll be able to migrate it to QuickBooks Desktop without a third-party application.
You'll want to make sure to download and install QuickBooks on your computer. Then sign in to QBO and download the migration tool. Once done, start preparing the file for export and select your data in QBO. To give you complete steps on how to do the process, I've added this article for your guide: Move Your QuickBooks Online Data To QuickBooks Desktop.
Furthermore, you'll notice differences in how your books appear when converting from QBO to QuickBooks Desktop. Go through this article to know how your books move: Learn How Features And Data Move From QuickBooks Online To QuickBooks Desktop.
Aside from that, once you're able to transfer your data, check out some of the QuickBooks Desktop information in this article: Get Started With QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know if you have any questions about conversion. The Community is always here to help all the time.
Thank you Maria. We followed all those steps and still Data Services Tech was not able to convert our file and recommended the 3rd party vendor
https://www.exportmybooks.com/ Have you used this vendor? Are they reliable. Do you have another recommendation on how we should proceed? Appreciate your input!

AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! I migrated a couple of weeks ago to see if I would like QB online. I don't. It is too slow and cumbersome, and not intuitive. So, I decided to go back to the desktop. I migrated all of my On-Line data to QuickBooks Desktop, and OMG! None of my bank accounts are reconciled, going all the way back to 2017 in one of my accounts. QuickBooks' answer to this is to go back and reconcile your accounts one year at a time. Are you kidding me?! My "trial" period is about to expire, and now I am stuck. I think the best thing I can do is re-enter everything I have entered in my desktop app this past couple of weeks. I will not allow Intuit to enslave me into using their online application.
Why don't you use the last backup file to restore on QBD and migrate the rest of data from QBO?
I have followed the instructions to create the QB Desktop file from QB Online and I get as far as answering the question on the certificate, hit done, and then I get the error message "1009 Internal Error Unknown Exception."
I have tried using chrome browser as well as edge. Both have resulted in the error message. Last year, I was able to create the QB Desktop backup file without problems.
Hello there. Let's figure out the possible cause of the error and work together to fix it.
I appreciate you sharing details about the steps you've performed. First, allow me to provide the possible causes of getting error 1009:
To fix this, refer to these steps:
Once done, perform the migration again. If this doesn’t solve the issue, you can use the standalone tool.
If you still encounter the same error, I recommend reaching out to our Technical support team to further investigate the root cause of the issue. They can provide an additional set of steps to help you complete the migration process and get rid of the error. Here's how:

It is US QBO to US QB Desktop
I appreciate your reply and confirming the clarifying question asked by Fiat Lux - ASIA, Stephanie.
The 1009 Internal Error Unknown Exception is a technical error that can occur in software applications, including QuickBooks. It usually indicates that there is an issue with the code or programming of the application.
I've also read your previous post and noticed you already tried using other supported browsers. Since the error persists, we can perform some additional troubleshooting steps.
Access the QBO account in a private browser. Here are the shortcut keys:
Then, try creating the desktop file again.
Additionally, you can clear your browser cache and cookies. It can improve your browsing experience. Afterward, try creating the desktop file one more time.
If the issue persists, I suggest contacting QuickBooks support for further assistance. They can provide you with specific steps to resolve the issue or escalate this to their technical team for further investigation.
If you already have QuickBooks Desktop installed, select QuickBooks Desktop Help from the Help menu. You can also press F1 on your keyboard to bring up the same Help panel.
Alternatively, you can also use this link:

Interesting that I was able to successfully perform the transition for another client but still not for the one that I need to after being in a private browser. (I presume that I could
I contacted QBO support as you indicated and they informed me that they only assist client with converting clients from QB Desktop to QBO and that they had no information on error code "1009 Internal Error Unknown Exception."
So... where do I go from here.

Apparently you did not see my last post. I did contact Desktop customer support and they told me that they could not help me. I needed to contact Online support instead. Online support already told me that they could not help me and that I needed to contact desktop support.
So in the end, there is no support for QuickBooks once again
Make sure you are using a supported QBD version (i.e 2021-2023). Last resort, purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
Yes, I was trying to use both 2023 and 2022 Premier Accountant versions. I was able to successfully perform the process on a different client.
What conversion service do you recommend?
Contact me in private and we can share the trial license for QBD 2020 Pro to try the conversion again. We found that sometimes the conversion process failed to run on QBD 2022 or 2023.
Thank you. I've already advised the client he will need to just download excel reports for any data that he wants to archive. I do still have the 2020 Accountant Premier Edition of QB so in the future if I run into the error I will try that.
Thank you again for responding.
I am not seeing Export Data in Gear Icon. It will be available only for the Admin ?
