Why are 6 months of my transactions missing from Quickbooks? My bank is synced, but transactions from April 15 (tax day for some reason) to Nov 1 of last year are missing.

I'll give steps to find the transactions, pipabraham.

When you're unable to find the transactions already downloaded in the Transactions page, it may be stuck somewhere. Let's make sure to filter the Type, Account, and Date to view All. Then, look for the transactions from November 1 last year to April this year.

If you're still not able to find the transactions, then you'll want to add them manually. Here's an article that includes the step by step instructions: Add older transactions to QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Otherwise, reach out to our Customer Care Team to investigate this further. You can find the instructions here: Contact QuickBooks Self-Employed Support.

Please know that you can always leave a reply on this thread if you have any additional questions or other concerns. Take care and stay safe.

I have the same issue. From June until Dec 2020, there is no bank information. Then it picked back up. I have paid for every month and there is not way I am going to manually enter in 6 months of data.

Same! I am missing July 2020 to December 2020. How can I get this resolved?

Hello, prkinney.

Thank you for bringing this issue into the Community. Let's manually refresh your bank account. This helps you bring the transaction from your bank.

Here's how to do it:

  1. Click the Gear icon
  2. Select Bank accounts
  3. Press the Refresh all

However, If you're still not able to locate the transactions, we can manually add them. Here's an article that includes the step by step instructions: Manually add transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed

Feel free to get back to me if you have other concerns. Have a great day!

The refreshing does nothing.

The refreshing does nothing, and I am not going to go manually add each transaction for 6 months! Do you realize what a burden that would be? That's why I pay 20 bucks a month, so it automatically imports. Not impressed with QB at all.

I appreciate you for trying the steps shared by my colleagues, HLawson.

At this time, I'd recommend reaching out to our Phone Support team. This way, an agent can do a screen-share with you and verify the missing transactions.

In the meantime, let's manually import the transactions.

Once imported, you can categorize them. I've added this article as your guide: Categorize transactions in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

I'll be around if there's anything that I can help. Keep safe!

I'm having the same issue, but when I went and entered the 5 months of missing transactions, quickbooks said they already exist, and yet they're nowhere to be found. So this troubleshooting didn't even work. Not cool.

Has anyone run into the same/similar issues? What did you do to solve it?

Thanks for letting us know about this issue, @morganebirch

I appreciate you trying some steps to get this resolved. Allow me to step in, so you can find the missing bank transactions in QBSE.

Let’s try filtering your transactions from the Transactions tab. This way, you’ll be able to check if the transactions you’re looking for were already recorded in QuickBooks.

Here’s how to do it:

  1. Go to the Transactions tab.
  2. Change the Type drop-down to All.
  3. Select your bank account from the drop-down, and change the Date to All.

You can also filter the Type drop-down to ExcludedUnreviewed, and uncategorized, etc. to sort out the transactions.

If you’ve already tried the above recommendations, please contact our QBSE Customer Care Support.

This way, we can create a ticket for you and investigate further.

Here’s how to reach out:

  1. Go to the Assistant icon at the top.
  2. Scroll down and type “I need to speak to a human”. When given options, enter “I still need to speak to a human
  3. Click Get a callback or Message an agent

In case you need help with other tasks in QBSE, check this link.

Please let me know how it goes by clicking the Reply button below. I'll be around to help if you have questions about downloading bank transactions. Have a good one.

Banks generally only keep 6 months of transaction activity available online. It's not QB's fault.
QB is trying to sync, but it can only pull what's available to them via your bank.

You need to download transactions more frequently, minimum of every 6 months so that QB can sync.

it auto syncs, it doesn't need us to do anything, it's not the customers fault,

All of my transactions from 5/1/21 through 10/31/21 are missing... 6 months. I just spent 30 mins on the phone with quickbooks, and told i have to manually enter each missing transaction... WTF

This is crazy. They better be giving a refund for these 6mo. So unacceptable.

I think I worked this out. QB only syncs when you login; it does not sync periodically or automatically in the background. I noticed this behaviour over a couple of months. I logged in and say there were ten transactions to review. I do them, and then there are more. As a developer myself, this is a common tactic to avoid system load e.g. You wait for the user to do something, and then kick off the background job. It not however appropriate here.

In other words, it seems the fix is to log in every 4 to 6 weeks (Assuming you don't already) to keep things current.

This is either very lazy programming/development or a massive bug. Either way, it's a lie to say QB syncs automatically with no user intervention.
