I'm running QB Desktop Premier Pro 2019. I download QBO files from the bank to add into quickbooks, and as I'm reviewing and adding charges, sometimes I want to mark the charge as a bill payment. However, only some of the time does "select bills to mark as paid" show up in the action drop down. I don't understand why this is. Sometimes I only have the options to match, add, etc. but not anything about bills. If it doesn't show up, I have to go to bill payments, enter the transaction, then come back to the bank feed to match the transaction. Does anyone know how I can get "select bills to mark as paid" to show up all the time?

One of the reasons why some functions are disappearing is when there's damage to the company file. You need to repair it by running the verify and rebuild data utility.

I followed that steps and found no errors in the file. Unfortunately the rebuild did not work to solve my issue. When I went back to add from the bank feeds, the "select bills to mark as paid" option was not there.

I'd like to share an idea about the option available in the bank feeds.
You'll need to make sure that the downloaded transactions have the same amount from your bill and it's under Payment. This way, the Select Bills to Mark as Paid option will show on the bank feeds.
If the bill and the bank transaction have the same amount, I'd suggest reaching out to our QuickBooks Desktop team. They'll be able to check your account in a secure environment to identify the root cause of it.

I was searching more online to see if anyone else has this experience, and found on a third party website with quickbooks tips that the "mark bills as paid" feature in the bank feeds only shows up for banks not credit card downloads. Is this correct? If so, that explains what's going on for me. It would be great if quickbooks gave the option to mark bills as paid by credit cards too, especially since over the last year we've been paying more bills paperless. Thanks!

Yes, you're right. The mark bill as paid only shows up for bank transactions. I can see how it would be useful to have the ability to mark the bill as paid for the credit card downloaded transactions, I'd suggest sending feedback straight to our product developers/engineers to be considered in the future. I am having this same issue more than a year later. It's a silly assumption that a bill can be paid only from a bank account and not with a credit card. It would be very good if QBDT fixed this issue. I'll submit a feature request but that has not produced any result so far.
Wow. I entered my response. Then this page required me to log in. Then select a screen name. Then enter my security code. Then brought me back here where my response is no where to be seen. So I'm starting over. Not a good customer experience so far.
