The balance in my QuickBooks checking account is not updating.

I had a large deposit this morning that is showing as credited to my account but is not reflected in my balance.

If you're using QuickBooks Payments for the first time, it's important to note that your initial deposits may take up to 5 business days to process, @John 9999

 

Once everything is set up, you can expect customer payments to be processed and deposited much more quickly.

 

Bank deposits for credit card payments take 1-2 business days, whereas bank transfers (ACH) take 2-7 business days. When your bank accepts the transactions, it will determine the deposit date. In this article, you can find additional information: QuickBooks Payments Deposits FAQ.

 

Meanwhile, you can track your transactions through the Merchant Service Center:

 

  1. Log in to your Merchant Service account.
  2. Click Activity & Reports and select Deposits.
  3. Use the Date fields to filter the data.

 

You can also check if the payment is in an undeposited funds account. Unless you physically deposit the funds into your actual bank, the Undeposited Funds account records payments in QuickBooks. Most of the time, banks aggregate all of your deposits into a single transaction. After you have your deposit slip and know which payments your bank has combined, you can do the same in QuickBooks.

 

Additionally, if you want to utilize instant deposits, you'll be able to transfer funds into your bank account within 30 minutes. Note that you need a QuickBooks Payments account. Then, you have the option to set up automatic scheduling for instant deposits.

 

For a one-time instant deposit, you can get your money on the same day if you request 3:00 PM PT. After that, it will be processed the next day. You can request a deposit anytime.

 

You have the flexibility to utilize Instant Deposit up to a maximum of 5 times per day. Whether you wish to deposit as little as $1 or as much as $25,000 per day, the choice is yours. It's important to note that your limit resets daily.

This is somewhat similar to how deposits processed via QuickBooks Payments are handled, though these services operate distinctly. 

 

To elaborate, QuickBooks Payments processes incoming payments before they’re deposited into an account like QuickBooks Checking, which functions like any other banking service but integrated within QuickBooks for easier management.

 

However, to assist you better, and ensure we cover all possibilities, I’d appreciate if you could provide a few more details about the deposit. Was this a transfer from an external bank account directly into your QuickBooks Checking account, or was it a payment processed through QuickBooks Payments? 

 

Other important aspects to consider are; wire transfers can be delayed, rejected, or not show up due to incorrect account information. If you initiated the wire transfer, please reach out to the sending bank to confirm the transaction details and ensure all information was correct.
But if the transfer was sent by a customer, I advise to have them check with their bank under similar concerns.
