HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

I need to edit a packing slip.  Is there a way to add the SKU to the packing slip or add or remove other information?  Really need this feature if not.  Packing slip currently offers very little information and includes shipping charges as a line item.

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

Hello, @Lmatt.

It’s nice to have you with us in the Community today. I’m here to share some information about QBO’s packing slip.

The ability to edit, add or remove information on a packing slip is a great idea if added to QuickBooks Online.

Please share us your insight and opinion by clicking the Gear icon and selecting Feedback. This way, our product team would know what you liked and what we can improve to make it better.

You can also send your product request via this link: https://feedback.qbo.intuit.com/forums/168199-quickbooks-online-feature-request.

In the meantime, you can only create a packing slip out of a customer’s invoice or sales receipt, then preview and print them. For more information about packing slip, check out this article: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/community/Payments/How-to-create-a-packing-slip-or-packing-slip/m-p/18....

We’d love to hear from you. Don’t hesitate to reach us out if there’s anything else you need. I’ll be here to help.

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

Horrible answer.  More fluff just to get to one link we can find ourselves, yet it does not tell how to change individual line items on the packing slip.

I can't find how to change the ship date!  Seems it would be easy, but you can't simply change it.  Please help!

What a lazy answer you gave and way too much fluff.  They did not ask on how to print a packing slip.  READ THE QUESTION:

HOW DO YOU EDIT, EDIT, EDIT A PACKING SLIP.

Did you get that....edit.  Not print.

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

Hello there, @Oreo13.

Currently, the option to edit packing slip isn't available in QuickBooks.

I can see how useful it is to have the ability to edit the ship date of the packing slip. As mentioned by my colleague KhimG, what we can do right now is to create a packing slip out of your customer's invoices.

But I want to let you know that your voice matters and I'm taking note of your feedback and suggestion to improve the experience we're providing.

For now, you can visit our Blog to learn what new updates are being released, as well as additional references while working with QuickBooks.

Please don't hesitate to get back to me if you have any additional questions about QuickBooks. Have a great day.

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

How is it possible that verbiage can't be added to a packing list.  Our customers do not want their receiving departments to know what our products cost.  The only way to include payment terms and conditions of the sale is to have it included on the invoice.  If verbiage is not included on the packing list at the time of sale, it is almost as if the terms and conditions of the sale do not exist.

Make this a feature immediately!!!!!

seems like you should be able to find the packing slip by clicking the back arrow under the MAIN tab

above the FIND button.

Keep clicking on back arrow until you get to the pkg slip you need to edit.

Then change whatever.

Here we are in mid 2020 and there still does not seem to be a resolution to this.  The other feature that should ABSOLUTELY be on a packing list is the SHIP TO ADDRESS.  I don't even see a tick box where I can tell it to add the ship to address.  If this is being handed off to a shipping department, we cannot simply hand them the packing list without including other paperwork that then has to come back to the accounting department.  You have made your "styles" way too limited.  In desktop QB, I could edit limitlessly any document I wanted and make it exactly what I NEED.  QBO, you have removed so much functionality with what should have been upgrades.  Please PLEASE make packing lists editable as well!

I just migrated to QB online. I am having the same problem. On desktop version we used to reformat the packing slip to company needs. Now I have no way to do anything to packing slip. I modified the invoice to what our needs are but why packing slip does not pull the same formatting or allow us to modify the format.

Every customer is looking for basic information but few additional info should be able to add to these forms to make it easy for all customers, We need help with Packing slip formatting

I agree! Having a Packing Slip or BOM without a SKU is absolutely worthless. The field is there, available and should be simple to program so you can print with the form.

Here we are almost 2 years later and Quickbooks still didn't bother to make this function available to customers.

Not being able to add SKU and add/modify other information on the packing list is nonsense!

Please fix it asap, Quickbooks!!!

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

I created a custom template for a packing list only to find that I have no way of editing once I click to create a packing list. Customers order 100 of something and we ship 5 additional but currently I can't type anything in the "Quantity Shipped" column that I created. This seems so silly and I figure there must be something I am doing wrong to not be able to edit before printing. Looks as though this issue has been talked about for over 2 years with no update. :(

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

Hello there, @Rapidtags.

Let me share some insights about the packing slip in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The packing slip is a standard format and cannot be edited. However, you can customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts to make it personalize and add the information that matters most to your business.

In the meantime, I'd encourage checking our QuickBooks Blog from time to time to stay current with the latest feature available in QBO.

You may also check our help articles in case you have any other QuickBooks concerns: Help articles for QuickBooks Online.

This is not a answer. This is a problem. A packing slip is pointless without the SKU data. Tracking and defining is impaired. To wish it away by saying it cannot be changed is not an answer.

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

The packing slip 'feature' is a tease that makes users more mad than if there were no Packing Slip, because what is does is pathetic.  There should be the ability to customize packing slips like one can for invoices.   And creating/editing a packing slip should be an easy part of the invoice workflow, not the totally separate hunt through the Sales interface it is now.
I just migrated from another small business accounting system that also ignored packing slips...why is this such a blind spot for accoutning SaaS businesses?   B2B companies that sell products cannot get paid without successful receiving against PO line items at customer docks.  The way this happens is via packing slips, not invoices!   Come on Intuit, you've been doing accounting software for decades, why is this feature implemented as a bug, instead of in a way that is actually useful to users?

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

Hello, @davidmoschella.

I can see the importance of being able to modify certain things, such as packing slips to suit your business needs. Currently, the default template format of the built-in packing slip in QuickBooks does not include the SKU column.

In the meantime, you can create a customized Packing Slip in your QuickBooks account. Here's how:

     1. Go to the Gear icon.

     2. Choose Custom Form Styles.

     3. Click the New Style drop-down.

     4. Pick either a Sales Receipt or Invoice.

     5. From the Design tab, enter the name of the custom sales form.

     6. Select the Content tab.

         a. Double-click on the Header portion of the Sales Receipt.

         b. Change the name of the form to Packing Slip

     7. Hover to the middle portion of the sample sale form.

         a. Mark the following tick box: Date, Product /Service, SKU, and Quantity

     8. Click Done.

Now, you can manually create a customized Packing Slip. Just make sure to select the Packing Slip template you've created.

Keep me posted if you have other questions about customizing your sales forms in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help.

OK, the workaround above to create a custom sales receipt form almost solves the problem...please implement the following features:

1.  In the custom sales receipt form Content:Footer editor, provide a check box to disable  and remove all the financials from the form.   My customers do not want the receiving department to know what the prices are of the products arriving at their docks.   IOW, a packing slip is NOT the same as an invoice.  They serve a different function, namely reconciling quantity of goods delivered against individual line items on a purchase order.  Receiving departments only get access to the item information, not the pricing information.

2. Relatedly, add the ability to place multiple custom fields in the Content:Table editor.   I need the ability to input information about the number of cartons associated with each line item quantity, e.g. Box 1 of 3 or other information like this, which can only be determined at the time of shipping to my customer for each line item.    Ideally, I'd like to get to a result like the excerpt from my present Packing Slip that is the result of custom code I had implemented from my company.

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

I want to cry.   Sales Receipt is not a solution for creating Packing Slips because you cannot create one from an invoice for the transaction you want to ship against!  Sales receipts are just another way to book revenue from a customer (immediately), therefore using them will double count the transaction.   :-(

So the only solution for users who want real packing slips is:
Intuit to get off your arse and implement customizable form for packing slips!   If you are unsure what features to provide, ask me your other B2B business users!

AGREE... We need a fully editable packing slip and a way to print the one we created - not the one that QB thinks we should use.  I miss Quickbooks Desktop!   I see another 2 weeks has passed since the last "solution" was suggested - which wasn't a solution at all since it essentially creates a duplicate.  How hard can this be????

Officially adding my voice to the list of people that require a custom packing slip for my customers.

Honestly, its crazy that this isn't an option. We will be forced to create custom packing slips outside of quickbooks now. Kind of starts to defeat the entire purpose of having a system like quickbooks.

I agree we need the ability to edit a packing slip.  I don't like the idea of modifying an invoice and saving it as a packing slip.  The pricing and invoice total cannot be removed and it is confusing to the end user to have to change form from invoice to packing slip.  Too many mistakes can happen with this recommendation.

I will also add my voice to the need to have editable packing slips.

My issue was a surprise. I operate under different trade names and had created a custom invoice.

When I went to print my packing slip under the custom invoice, my default company logo is in the pack slip.

I assumed that if you created an invoice with a particular logo, that very same logo would appear on the packing slip. :(

HOW TO EDIT A PACKING SLIP

Hello Newtguy!

I understand that you also need to add an option to customize the packing slip. While this isn't available, you'll want to consider the workaround shared by my peer. Create and customize an invoice, then rename it as Packing Slip.

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Custom form styles.
  2. From the New style drop-down, select Invoice.
  3. Click the Content tab. On the Form section, change the Form names to Packing Slip.
  4. Tap Done to save it.

Also, I encourage you to send feedback about this. From the Gear icon, select Feedback.

I've added some links you can check. These will help you to make your templates more presentable:

Keep on posting here if you have other concerns. We'll respond as soon as we can.

Consider having an additional app as a workaround.

More work-arounds

We don't want work-arounds

We want simple features and options

Features and options which existed in Desktop

The packing slip is practically useless

Does not contain most of the information that we, or the customer needs

This packing slip seems to be designed by someone who has neither shipped, nor received a single good in their life
