Problems by connecting UPS with Shipping Manager (QB Desktop Enterprise)

Hello Community,

we want to use the shipping manager in Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise.

We have never used the Shipping Manager. Now we would like to integrate UPS.

After we have accepted the terms and conditions and entered all our data, the error message appears:

Oops! Something went wrong...

Account registration failed

PostalCode and/or CountryCode input does not match those associated with the AccountNumber [9570103

The Postalcode and the account number definitely match. We have also tried it with our second account. It doesn't work with that either.

Do you have any tips for us on how we can solve this problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

UPS states that QB is using an outdated version of Ship Rush and that QB needs to update it.

We are currently in the process of switching providers for our shipping functionality, @TheSound. I'll explain more information below.

The reason why you are seeing this error because UPS no longer supports the Shipping Manager software currently in QuickBooks. As a result of this switch, we will have a new system for managing shipping, called the Shipping Manager, which will be available starting in May. If you have not set up shipping with your carrier yet, you will not be able to do so until the new system is launched in May. You might also start seeing pop-up messages in QuickBooks about this upcoming change.

For more details about the new and improved shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop, refer to this article: Get ready for a new shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop.

For now, if you need to generate shipping labels, we recommend doing so directly through the UPS website.

Additionally, consider updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the most recent version in order to access the latest features and product enhancements.

Let me know in this thread if you have any questions about the shipping manager in QuickBooks Desktop. I am here to provide assistance and address your concerns effectively.

JeraldR..... Is there a way that we can be notified when the new Shipping Manager is available in Enterprise 2024?

We are still using Enterprise v2022. We understand that we will be forced to update to v2024 by the end of May. To avoid losing use of the old shipping module, we are awaiting the rollout of the new Shipping Manager. Losing the shipping module would be devastating to our business.

Hey there, @TimL

Thanks for chiming in on this thread about QB Shipping Manager.

We’re working on making the new experience available to you as early as possible. Till then, you can continue using the existing shipping experience until May 31, 2025.

The best way to review what's new in the system is through our QuickBooks Blog. You'll be able to look over details about what's coming in the future for the system.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to lend a hand!

Thanks for the quick response Candice, but what does "as early as possible" mean?

My nightmare scenario is that on May 31, version 2022 stops working (as promised -- unfortunately) but the shipping module still isn't ready.

Candace, Do we have any updates regarding availability of the new Shipping Manager?

You previously directed me to the Blog, but I don't see anything new in there since March. If I search the blog for "shipping" the most recent entry is from 2023 and is unrelated to this item.

I am very concerned that we will be required to upgrade from Enterprise v2022 to v2024 by the end of this month. Obviously, we will lose the current UPS module if we upgrade Enterprise and the new shipping module is not yet ready.

PLEASE help us with this! We are very concerned.

It appears that UPS has stopped supporting the Shipping Manager add-on because they had not updated since 2011, and was using insecure communications.  The error that I started getting Monday for missing password indicates that UPS is expecting OAUTH level communications and Quickbooks didn't invest in time.  It took me 15 hours of debugging, multiple calls, rebuilds, etc to get a straight answer from Intuit.  No, they didn't fess up to the OAUTH, insecure communications, part above.  But a conversation with UPS made this clear.

All users on Desktop can no longer ship via UPS from desktop until they fix this problem.  Unless somehow they prevented updates from QB.

As a general comment, I would caution anyone considering using QUICKBOOKS desktop to rethink this.  I don't think Intuit is ready to admit this, but the age of this product has probably made continued support extremely expensive.  They have likely shifted all investment to their online product and will milk desktop as long as they can.  I believe this because I was the Product Manager of an IBM product what was being milked but not reinvested in.  Frustrations like this are likely to grow as their technical debt continues to grow.

I was told that Intuit would be sending out weekly updates on this.  I registered my email.  Is this true, and if so, may I get a copy of the last one sent?  And I don't mean the march announcement that says we can continue to use our current shipping manager until the new one is available.

I appreciate the detailed information you provided with your concern, @TwoSkunkyBeers. Let me provide you some insights about discontinuation of UPS and how you can receive updates in QuickBooks.

Yes, you're correct. UPS has discontinued support for the Shipping Manager software. Intuit is in the process of transitioning to a new Shipping Manager platform, which you can expect to see this May. In the meantime, if you need to create shipping labels, it's recommended to do so directly on the UPS website.

Also, since you’ve registered your email, keep an eye out for any updates that will be sent to you. Additionally, our QuickBooks Blog offers the latest information on new features added to QuickBooks.

For further information on the new shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop, refer to this article: Get ready for a new shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop. It features a completely new interface designed for all your shipping needs within QuickBooks Desktop.

Furthermore, to see the newest features and product improvements, consider updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the latest version.

Moreover, if you're seeking assistance with setting up and managing your inventory to enhance cash flow, boost efficiency, improve customer satisfaction, cut costs, and facilitate better decision-making, I suggest checking out the article: Set up Advanced Inventory in QuickBooks Desktop.

Thanks for the additional information EdwardA. Can you guys please provide an update regarding the release date for the new Shipping Module?

TimL

Problems by connecting UPS with Shipping Manager (QB Desktop Enterprise)

Thanks for confirming that the new module has not yet been released. We are still using Enterprise v2022 and have avoided recent maintenance updates on three of our workstations after discovering the UPS issue on two PCs that accepted updates. We will be forced to move to v2024 by the end of the month which will cause those remaining workstations to also lose UPS functionality. I was hoping to hear that the new module was already working in 2024. Your comment confirms that it apparently has not been released.

As you described, trying to get information was (and continues to be) extraordinarily frustrating. I also initially spent three days on the phone going back and forth between UPS and Intuit. UPS high-level tech support finally shared with us an article explaining issue. Trying to get updates out of Intuit has continued to be ridiculously frustrating. At this point, I just with that they would postpone the forced v2022-2024 upgrade until the UPS module was functional.

I upgraded to Enterprise last year, and I have been using the shipping manager for years in quickbooks desktop. I seen the new manager requires a subscription of $75 a month to print my shipping labels and allow me to use my UPS/FedEx account negotiated rates. The old one was included. I am not happy that they want to change me more for just using their system.

I assume now they get a rebate back to QB for the use of the "exclusive" shipping partner on every box I ship.

I am so tired of the nickel and diming of quickbooks.

As of today 5-12-25, the old shipping manager still works and I made labels for UPS.

The old manager never worked great but it does work.

Where did you find updated information? I've never heard of the $75 fee. But the newest information from Intuit is now over two months old. It sounds like you found something newer.

Okay. I found a SUPER simple resolution. After you enter the account nickname, account number, zip code, and country - the next pop up is the log in page to allow ShipEngine access. Do not enter your email. Maximize the pop up and click on the "Log In" button in the upper right hand corner of the window. Enter your UPS or UPS My Choice username and password.

This worked for me after hours of scouring the webs for fixes. I updated Quickbooks Desktop (2024), changed crazy registry keys, tried running as Admin.... you name it. This was my last ditch effort before going Office Space on our PC. Thankfully, it was spared the baseball bat.

Using UPS was a pain in the you know what.  I had to load the addresses.  30 minutes one time to get this done.  Then I worked for 2 hours on and off the phone with UPS until we figured out they they stopped supported the label printer I use.  Then we had to print and tape on to 19 boxes.  Cut and paste tracking numbers back to invoices.  Unnecessary except for gaps in the software technical backlog investment by Intuit.

I really need to stop taking updates.  I am going to turn it off.  It seems that every update I get, I have 1-2 days of back and forth with your tech team.

I appreciate your responding to folks.

That sounds hopeful!

But what release are you running? The fields you described aren't the same as what we are seeing with Enterprise 2024 R14P.
