Scan Manager discontinuation

This is what I sent to the office of Sasan Goodarzi:

"There have been hundreds, if not thousands, of complaints regarding the removal of Scan Manager from Quickbooks. Yes, we know you all sold this to Microsoft - but can Intuit not develop their own Scanning feature? This was a very useful tool and many of your long-term customers are upset that they have had to find another option outside of Intuit - yet pay increased rates for QB updates, with fewer features."

The provided a case number and said that someone would contact us within one business day.

Actually I owned 3 of those Fujitsu, I was a big fan, but you will never know how nice the Brothers ones are till you try one. So many better things to list. I do not think Fujitsu have there own software package. That part was always a pain. I will never go back. Fujitsu did last a long time. But we did have to replace the rollers too many times. They turn to gum.  Not easy to replace.

Well glad you found something you like. I've never had a roller turn to gum or had to replace one. And they do have their own software, its really easy. Maybe next time I'll check out a brother, but it'll be a while. Have a great day!

LOL Hope I did not jinks you on the rollers, LOL here on ebay, 1500 sold 

Rollers are not that much money but installing them is really difficult and I am a really handy guy.

Beyond PO'd about this. Not only I am forced to upgrade to a inferior product so my payroll will work. The price went up like 7 times what it was for a product that does less. You clearly have no idea who your customers are and what they want.

I have been paying thousands for Quickbooks Enterprise per year for seven accounts. I have been unable to upgrade to the current version because of a bad decision on Quickbook's part to discontinue the scan manager, which is a vital part of our operation. I run an inspection company that scans thousands of documents annually into the program. I'm now stuck using Enterprise 2021, which will end if you stop supporting that version.

We are currently looking for other programs to meet our needs. Quickbooks has now regressed and has become a nightmare to thousands of users who have been trying to get someone's attention at Quickbooks over this subject with no reasonable explanation for years.  

If you remove a part of the product's function so vital to the program, you should offer a discount or refund on your now sub-par product or create a better version of scan manager and put it back into the program to fit our needs.

I expect a response.

Why should this be sent to the President's office:

 

 

 Quickbooks doesn't seem to understand they have removed a vital function many businesses use in their everyday operations.

Your Quickbooks community is there for a reason. Maybe someone in Corporate should read all the angry posts on this subject and do something about it.

This is the worst idea ever.  Who thought it would be easier to take a photo of a stack of supporting documents?  My supporting documents could be over 20 pages including invoices and proof of deliveries which is tremendously helpful to our salesmen.  No way I am taking 20 different photos.  I fail to see the logic.

Software updates, such as the discontinuation of Scan Manager, come following carefully considered decisions that we do not make lightly. We understand the uncomfortable position it may put you in and, while we are unable to promise that the Scan Manager feature will be returned, we do feel it important your feedback is shared.

Scan Manager was replaced with Attach Documents in the QuickBooks Document Center, as you may be aware. Chris, please lift this up to the people who make the decisions.  Scan Manager was a wonderful tool that did NOT require so many extra steps to get the job done.  I understand there is a "work-around", but please know that work-arounds are usually meant to be a temporary solution until a permanent fix can be put into place.  We want that Permanent Fix to this as our solution and that would be to bring back Scan Manager or something similar that is not so cumbersome to use.  Thanks for lifting this up for all of us folks who are suffering because it was taken away.

The mobile attaching is not practical for most of the users. Also, using the scanner software takes so much longer, that it severely affected our work load.  3 Hours of scans has now doubled to 6 hours.

Is there not another software company that can figure out how to attach a file as effective as Scan Manager?

If you have spent any time reading through this thread, you will see that this affects many companies.

Thank you for your response, but it does not appear that anything is or ever will be worked on to properly correct such an important feature that was taken away. 

I feel that this decision was taken lightly, as does most of the customers here.

Please share this thread with the appropriate parties.

This is just more words with ZERO ACTION! I chose QB because of the ability to scan and attach the bill to each entry. Of course, they would STOP that the year I chose to switch over to it. Companies NEED the ability to attach their docs EASILY. We use the Right Networks version and that makes this even worse for us. Not having the ability to scan directly to QB is INSANE! This is 2023, not 2003. Why are you going back in time? Scanning one page at a time is NOT a solution and whoever dreamed that up should be FIRED!

I am on Right Networks as well and agree it is a much bigger problem for us. I believe I was one of the first people to complain about this over a year ago. My son in law works for Quickbooks and can't get an answer. It would be so nice if someone at QB would explain their rationale or at the very least just tell us to go to hell instead of extolling the virtues of their worthless mobile app.

Well the answer is they used Nuance software to run the scanning program. Nuance sold. Quickbooks didn't get a replacement program They left us flapping in the wind. Its really hard to be loyal to a company that makes decisions like this by what: taking counsel with those of us with boots on the ground? or some software engineer who thinks those of us in the office run our businesses with little 'app-y' like software. Nonsense!

It had to be financially feasible for them to not continue the app. So financially feasible that they don't care about their subscribers.

Thanks for your email. Your email does not indicate why the Scan capabilities were removed from the QuickBooks enterprise edition after 2021. I am currently paying for the Diamond edition. I cannot upgrade to the 2023 edition.

Please give me an alternative to scanning documents directly into Quickbooks, as a mobile device is not an option. I do not want my employees to have company documents on their devices. If the original Nuance program is not available, please find a replacement.

We've always aimed to give you the QuickBooks features so you can conveniently use the program for your business operations. Please feel free to submit a feature request to our software engineers, so they'll consider adding the scan capabilities in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) again. Here's how:

 

  1. Select the Help option, then click the Send Feedback Online option.
  2. Tap Select the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window appears.
  3. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  4. Hit the Send Feedback button. 

 

Moreover, you'll want to reply to Chris and share your sentiments about this matter through the email you received. 

 

As a workaround, you can search for a third-party app you may integrate with your QBDT to assist you scan receipts and other documents. Check out this website to locate apps: Apps for QuickBooks Desktop Marketplace.

 

I've also included this article for your reference in upgrading a newer version of your QBDT in the future:  Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro, Premier, or Enterprise.

That has been done MANY MANY TIMES! There has been ZERO action on it. That speaks volumes to me. We have scanners. We have Adobe and other software packages. There should be the capability to use them to scan docs DIRECTLY into the program with a SINGLE push of a button. NOT having that NEEDED feature is a HUGE FAIL on QB's part and their complete LACK of care about their customer's needs says all we need to know about these empty platitudes the QB employees leave. YOU know the need for it. DO IT!

I will be amazed if it ever comes back. I have been requesting very simple features / fixes for years and nothing ever happens. I don't think the request feature link even goes anywhere. It always makes you feel warm and fuzzy when you keep paying more and more for a products that does less and less!

 

Does anyone have suggestions for a good alternative? I would be happy to spend my money elsewhere.

Too late for me. I already left the platform.  I am keeping a single user account for the time being.  What a shame that they did this in the first place and a shame that it took them this long to bring it the scan function (if this is in fact what they are doing).  It is also a shame in how they handled the discontinuation in the first place.  Intuit is a big company and I assume every move was thought out and what we saw was how they indended to manage the product.  All the more reason to be dissatisfied with the product.

@Haresh I am the last one that wants to rain on this parade...and with QB I always say, seeing is believing, because I've had 'yes' from them that was inaccurate. That article link the agent gave referenced barcode scanning in advanced reporting. Which is different from scan and attach.

I really really really want the scanning back and to do away with the foolish impossibility of taking photos...and I'm running QB Enterprise 21 until they stop supporting it and then I'll use the work around others suggested (scan to a folder, drag the scan over to attach).

But reading that online chat, I'm not sure the agent understood what you were asking.

Would someone else read that and tell me I'm wrong? I would be so happy to be wrong in this case
