I am trying to find the NEW Quickbooks Online App for Mac. But I'm afraid that there is a sea of topics out there that link to the old app. For example, this community topic, last updated four weeks ago, has a link to the old app, with the huge banner saying that the app will stop updating after April 20, 2021.
When I log into my QBO account on a Mac, I can go to the gear icon and click the "Get the desktop app" link on the menu. But that downloads the Windows version, which obviously won't run on a Mac. There's a button "Download for Windows," but not one for Mac.
Where is the definitive location to get the Mac app? (And to be clear, in this morning's In the Know webinar, a Mac version IS available!)
I'm afraid that I'm probably looking right at it, but just don't see it. And my Google-Fu so far is failing me.
Thanks!
Don
I'm here to elaborate on some details about the QuickBooks Online app for Mac, donkiely.
Intuit has stopped updating QuickBooks Online App for Mac after April 20, 2021. You can still use the app as long your browser supports it. However, even if the QuickBooks Online Mac app continues to work, we still recommend that you switch entirely to a web browser since Intuit won't be fixing any security vulnerabilities moving forward.
Furthermore, you can also search for another app that works well with QuickBooks. You can check the description and overall reviews to see how this app works. I've added a sample screenshot for your visual guide:
I've got this link for your reference: QuickBooks Online Application.
Let me know if there's anything else that you need about QBO App for Mac. I'll always be right here to help.
Thanks.
Then you might want to put out a consistent message about it. At the In the Know - QuickBooks Online Product Updates webinar this morning, as I said, they talked about the new app that was available for both Windows and Mac. So the Intuit people talking about what's new in QBO are putting out incorrect information.
Don
I received the link to the recording of yesterday's In the Know - QuickBooks Online Product Updates put on by Intuit employees. Attached is a screen shot of the relevant slide that talks about the app that is now available for Windows and Mac.
So, someone is putting out incorrect information. Who is it?
Thanks! I really do appreciate your responses and help, and would love to have an app for the Mac.
Don
I am never switching to an online browser. I would rather switch to another software. Ridiculous this isn't supported.
I'm also looking for the MAC app.. this a screen shot from the "updates" screen showing the app is available for MAC. I'm also unable to find it! @MariaSoledadG please let us know what you can find out.
Thank you!

@MichelleBh unfortunately neither of the links you shared lead to a downloadable app for mac.
Hi @BBABS, thanks for updating us on this.

The download works but it the app spins when you open it. I have no idea why Quickbooks has decided to stop supporting this BUT provides an app if you spend $200 month.
Hi there.
I recognize your worry regarding the new QuickBooks Online App for Mac.
After you downloaded this, we can wait for some times for the application to load properly. Then, let's clear the application cache on your Mac to speed up the process the next time you open the software.
Here's how:
If the issue persists, we can close and reopen the application to refresh the page.
This program has been upgraded with improved dependability, support for multiple tabs, and a fresh look. Now that the update is available, you may easily access all of your online data from the Applications folder.

I cleaned the Cache and it still doesn't work.
When I click on your link, it takes you to the option for the $200 per month plan.
@Rubielyn_J @MichelleBh thank you both for the guidance! The link worked to download the app but like the other commenter the app doesn't appear to work, it just spins.
I tired the suggestion to clear the cache but the library folder doesn't exist on my computer.
Hello there, @fallinphotography and @BBABS.
I appreciate you both for getting back and providing updates on the results of the troubleshooting steps you've done to resolve the issue with the QuickBooks Online for Mac app.
In the meantime, I suggest resetting the app's data to re-establish its connection. The app store data can be the reason behind the hurdle you've experienced. Here's how:
Unusual behaviours, like spinning circles and unresponsive pages/windows, are caused by the accumulated cache in the app. Since you've done clearing the cache, this time, let's reset the app's data to re-establish its connection. The app store data can be the reason behind the hurdle you've experienced. Here's how:
However, if the issue persists, you can uninstall and reinstall the app to start over fresh. To install the app, visit this link: The QuickBooks for Mac is here.

Sadly, these links are for an ancient version of the QBO Advanced app - that doesn't work at all. Clearing App Cache, Reset App Data - nothing fixes the spinning and lack of page loads in this version.
There is a release available for download currently that uses the newer underpinnings that match the Windows version of the QBO Advanced app available from a partner preview link that unfortunately is backstopped/stuck at version 1.7.2 which doesn't allow copy/paste. I won't dare post the link here because that's a breach of partner terms if I recall. The file that downloads is named QuickBooks Online.zip instead of a .dmg file which brings down the very old version that was previously discontinued.
This thread is incredibly confusing for most people because there are references to the Mac-specific product instead of QuickBooks Online Advanced App for Mac which is the only link that anybody cares about - because the links provided to partners are outdated, and the links provided in this article take you to either old or incorrect application.
There have been many additional new releases for the app on Windows, but the .zip file link continues to bring down the older 1.7.2 version instead of a more current build. The link even says tango static latest within the URL, but clearly someone is forgetting to update the zip file to whatever is truly the latest version.
Please, ask QSP team and/or developers to escalate this to get it resolved. The app works very well now in Windows, and Mac users are still stuck using the browser version.
@Rubielyn_J @Nicole_N @MichelleBh @MirriamM - can someone from QuickBooks team please reply?
@Rubielyn_J @Nicole_N @MichelleBh @MirriamM
Can someone from the QuickBooks team please escalate and provide a reply?
Let me help you deliver this concern to our designated team, @jbbehar.
I understand how convenient for you to access your QuickBooks Online (QBO) flawlessly on Mac. In this, I’d recommend contacting our Technical Support Team. Keep me posted about this topic so we’ll know that everything gets sorted out. Have a good one!
@RoseJillB as usual on this topic just like many others in this community you deflect instead of solve.
I have called, I have chatted, and I have escalated only to get no results because largely what happens in every channel of communication is exactly what you did - deflection...and absent that, it's a fundamental misunderstanding of the simple words explaining a very clear problem with a very clear solution.
It's beyond frustrating to deal with the chronic misunderstandings!
How do we get this matter escalated to someone that actually knows what's going on with getting an updated QuickBooks Online App for Mac download link made available to desktop upgraders?
@Rubielyn_J @Nicole_N @MichelleBh @MariaSoledadG @MirriamM @RoseJillB - all of you have commented on this thread - one of you must care enough to get this matter properly understood and properly escalated.
Right now there is more misinformation in this thread than anything and most importantly, there is no guidance as to a deliverable solution which only consists of one thing - getting the link to the latest "tango" version of the QuickBooks Online App for Mac released.
"This way, they can check on your account to see why the performance differs from using Windows." ...
It has nothing to do with our accounts. It's the app. It doesn't work. It doesn't work for anyone. It's broken. We are all reporting the same experience. It's not us, it's the app.
This is correct. They brought back the same exact app but now it's only available for the $200/month plan.
Their reason for discontinuing support is that no one used the app but there seems to be a lot of unhappy.
