I'm here to share some insights about correcting W2s.
If you need to correct a Form W-2 that has already been filed through QuickBooks Online Payroll Enhanced, you need to manually create and mail a Form W-2c to the SSA. To be guided doing the process, I recommend reading the General Instructions for Forms W-2c and W-3c. You may use the payroll reports in your QBO account as a reference in filling out the W-2c tax form.
On the other hand, if you haven't filed them yet, you can directly fix the issue within the program. Then, file your W-2s as you normally would.
For QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, Elite, and Full Service, you’ll need to contact us to request a correction. We'll be the one to correct your tax forms and file a Form W-2C to the SSA, then send a copy to your employees. Here's how:
- Go to the Help icon.
- Select Talk to a human from the Here are some ways to get started section.
- Enter "Talk to a human" again in the search bar.
- Choose I still need a human, then click Get help from a human or Contact us.
- Select Get a callback or Send a message to start a conversation.
