Latest version of online payroll service doesn't support NC W2 and W3 filing. I can't download a file if I choose NC as a state. How do I efile without having to enter data manually?
Good day, @HebaBotros.
Welcome, and thanks for dropping by the Community. I can provide details about e-filing W-2 and W-3 forms in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
If you use QuickBooks Online Payroll Core, Premium, or Elite, the automated tax payment and form filing feature is enabled by default. This may be the reason why you can't e-file. If this is the case, here's how to turn it off:
For more information about managing automatic tax payments and form filings, check out this article: Manage automatic tax payments and form filings.
After that, let's proceed with e-filing the forms. Here's how:
Once we’ve processed your W-2 filing, we’ll send you an email letting you know it’s complete. You can also check the status of your filing on the status page:
For further guidance about submitting your W-2 forms to the Federal and state agencies, please refer to this article: File your W-2 forms.
I'll also add this article that tackles how and when your W-2s are filed: Understand the timing for W-2 filing, delivery, and access for you and your employees.

If you have additional questions about e-filing W-2s or anything else, please let me know in the comment. I'm always around to help. Take care.
I am having the same issue. NC State e-file shows in the forms and I was able to submit for one store on Monday. It was processed no problem. When I tried to do the second store I got a duplicate error. Normally, I add both stores together and upload but I thought since they added e-file, it would work the same as Federal w-2. I was wrong. I spent 1 hour on the phone regarding this. NC DOR says it is a quickbooks issue but I would be able to upload the second store on the NCDOR website. But, NC requires e-file and Quickbooks has now taken away the option of creating the file. Two different phone conversations with Quickbooks. One said an update on Thursday will add back in the excel form. The other said Quickbooks was asked to remove the form and not put it back. I am waiting to see if it shows back up tomorrow. . Otherwise, I am lost. Using Quickbooks desktop 2020. Any advice would be appreciated.
